Secrets of Retreat Defense

gunner said…

Just wondering about a couple things. First any start is a good start in setting up for a crisis.

But if you believe something terrible might happen and you intend on surviving…just how do you think you will appear to all the others out and about looking for food, shelter, warmth and a future.

Your chainsaw in running making noise and theirs is not? No saw, no gas. Your location is pouring out smoke for heat and cooking and theirs is not. They are cold and hungry. You are warm and have a full tummy. Your location has the nice warm glow of lanterns at night while they are in the dark.

Think about it for a while. Switch roles. You see everything you lack at another location and it is all yours if you just take it. You team up with a couple others and make a plan to move in during darkness while they are warm inside. Of course you realize that the owners of all that will resist you trying to take it all and end up out there in the dark, cold hungry world. So they must be rubbed out. Truth.

Now that is you in the location and just what are you going to do to protect your stuff? Are you alone? When do you sleep? Who watches while you are? Can they observe 360 degrees. Are they really able and willing to do what it takes to stop a for sure attempt to take what you have?

Remember they are going to try this after dark. If your lanterns or any lights are on your human night vision is zero and you are also back lit. Nice target. How will you observe your perimeter after dark 24/7/365?

Can you? If not you more than likely will not be living very long, so plan on that.

Did you know that night vision equipment is all over the open market and Ebay? It sells by the truck load daily. Net result…don’t even think no one else will not have it and use it to approach you in the dark and terminate you and yours. Much easier than going to all the work you are doing.

Solution…get yourself some Generation 3 head mounted night vision and now. I can observe a target clearly at three hundred yards and more on a dark night where I can hardly make out a tree truck twenty feet away. With the correct flash suppressor I can draw a bead and fire at that range and eliminate the approaching murderers…. and wake up alive the next morning…can you? If not just what are you preparing for? You think survival is a day light only deal and all the bad guys close up shop after dark…you can only wish. Good luck.

Gunner you make some good and valid points for those living after a total Mad Max type collapse and this could indeed happen, but if we take history as a model we are more likely to suffer another 1930’s Great Depression or Soviet era economic collapse than the Mad Max type situation you suggest. But who knows? It’s best to prepare for the worst, that way anything less will only seem like an inconvenience.
Your comment could not have been sent at a better time. For the past several months I have been working on a book that I intend to publish here at Survivalist Blog within the next few weeks. Secrets of Retreat Defense, will cover those areas which are of concern to you and I am sure others that are planning to survive after tshtf.

First good luck with the book. I would prefer a bound edition, autographed, of course. And yes I would be happy to add it to my library. That was a good point about who are you going to defend against. The military would roll over most of us like a rock in the road. I don’t envy any of us trying to come up with the best plan for defense. I guess we just do the best we can, live our lives the best we can and trust in God for the rest.
