The Ultimate Collection of Survival Resources

There are thousands of survival related resources on the Internet which can create an overwhelming experience for anyone looking for related information.

I’ve decided to help by creating a massive list of posts, articles and resources all designed to be a go-to reference for the survivalist, homesteader or anyone interested in becoming more self-reliant. This will be a work in progress and I’ll be updating this list frequently.

I’m sure I’m missing many other links. If you know of a great resource, please leave me a comment below or send me an email to let me know. If I add your suggestion, I’ll update this page with a credit link.

Another good magazine is The Backwoodsman (backwoodsmanmag.com). Heavy emphasis on improvised and inexpensive projects for outdoor living, with most articles submitted by readers.

Bas Rutten is an awesome MMA fighter, but a good self-defense instructor he is not. Most of the stuff on his tape relies on prior training or way too much strength.

I think it's nearly impossible for a beginner to learn much self-defense from merely watching a video. Find a self-defense instructor in a school to teach you self-defense.

Some suggestions: Krav Maga, To-Shin Do, or Non-sport Ju-jutsu. But you should find a place that teaches self-defense specifically, and not traditional martial arts or sports arts.

Most importantly, test what they show you outside of the classroom with a resisting opponent who is larger than you.

Useful self-defense relies not so much on techniques; but on awareness. How to avoid a situation where you have to fight. But if you have to fight you need fighting spirit (guts, chutzpah whatever), aggressiveness and a knowledge of the law; not just techniques

That "better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6" bullshit is no comfort to you in a civil courtroom, where the criminal or his family takes you for all your worth because you used excessive force.
