Police were not expecting the grenade and because officers had promised "no questions asked," no one was charged.
Police asked residents in the future to call ahead if they have any unusual items such as hand grenades or mortars.
Kind of makes you wonder which is more dangerous the guns or these stupid buyback programs which encourage people - most of whom know nothing about firearms or safety - to transport guns to the site, and handling them while there. Talk about endangering public safety.

WHAT COULD GO WRONG?PEOPLE BEING KILLED BY A DUMMY WHO DOESNT KNOW WHAT THERE DOING.FIRST OF ALL THE GUN BUY BACK PROGRAM IS FOR GUNS,RIGHT.SECOND WHERE IN THE HELL DID THEY GET A GRENADE FROM?ANYWAY THIS MY TWO CENTS ON THE SUBJECT.FROM JAY IN NC
I hope the police soiled their drawers when they brought in that grenade. Maybe they'll tell their superiors how stupid gun buybacks really are.
Is there any law against citizens holding their own "gun buyback" programs? I figure these people are brining in weapons worth hundreds of dollars for a gift card or maybe $20 cash. Maybe the next time there's a gun buyback in the area, I'll outbid the police and end up with an arsenal of random firearms (with maybe a grenade or two if I'm lucky).
Round here ( Nova Scotia ) they trade you a digital camera for your unwanted guns and they come pick them up, so no dummies transporting here
