Important – Please Read

We’re making changes here at the blog – not with the content (that will only continue to get better) but with our hosting and blogging platform.

We’re moving to a self-hosted wordpress platform – while most of you won’t even notice, subscribers will need to update their subscriptions by following the links provided.

Update your RSS feed
Update your Email Subscription

Changes will be taking place in a few days so please update your setting now to avoid missing new posts. I’m sure some of you are asking what’s the point and that is a good question.

If you’re blog is hosted on blogger (owned by google) they can delete your blog at anytime for any reason. Say something offensive or not inline with their policy and poof no more blog!

It should be noted that the address (www.TheSurvivalistBlog.net) will remain the same – all links and bookmarks to the site or individual posts will continue to work as always.

The only thing you need to do is update your RSS feed and email subscription settings.

 Thank you.

If you enjoyed this post, make sure you subscribe to my RSS feed!

    Mechanic,

This site explains it pretty well (what is RSS) if you don't want to use the RSS option you can sign up to receive updates by email – remember RSS and email subscriptions are ad free.

Google/Blogger will also review your site periodically and if they don't like what you are posting they will seize nay funds you have generated via AdSense and cancel your AdSense account. If you have a site tracker account you will see the viewer named googlebot come up about once a month. That is googles spy software.

Good for you M.D. Independence is a wonderful thing, isn't it! Sort of fits the philosophy of your site. Keep up the great work.

Blogger info – WOW, so much for freedom of speech.

This further proves to me the value of your site. If some entity decided that you were gaining momentum with the raw truth & did not like it, they simply assassinate the entire site to quell the appearance of a threat or movement.

Please keep up your great work, your research & referenced articles are spot on. Also, I'd suggest that the naysayers who seem to troll the site from time to time may deserve to have their grumblings displayed. I believe it is important to see how the blind are viewing the obvious coming train wreck. It is important because they are the future enemy, so to speak, we need to know how the enemy troopers think.

I will suggest that you personally NOT give them your valuable time to answer their baseless objections – there is no point to this losing battle, let your reading audience do the work. Aside from that, they bring you down to their level which, no matter the outcome, they succeeded.

Believe me when I tell you this because I was one of the opposition trying to get your goat & succeeded BUT clearly saw my stupidity when I read how your readers responded & decided to research the claims being made all.

Again keep up the great work – you greater value than you may know by consistently providing useful information plus, you are on the right track – we must prepare.

I'd be interested in a bit of the details of switching to a wordpress setup.
Such as, cost and any difficulty in transferring what you have from blogger, etc.

I think there are a lot of folks who would be interested in this. I know I've been thinking of it.

    Thanks.

A few years ago, two colleagues and I ran a blog on a specific topic (completely unrelated to survivalism) which became very successful in that little corner of the internet. We used WordPress hosted through a site like Blue Host or LunarPages. We learned a few lessons.

What you have to watch out for on such sites using a WP blog is how much processor time it's taking up – too much and you're visitors will end up with a page saying your quota has been exceeded. Lots of traffic can do this.

Also, if you use any traffic tracking plug-ins that add data to the SQL database (which also stores all your posts, comments, links, user info, etc.), the SQL database can become HUGE.

This is important b/c platforms like WP are dynamic, meaning they query the database for every page load. If the DB is huge, the processor has to work harder. One method to help with this is a plug-in called WP-Cache.

At any rate, WP is an excellent blogging platform with many options. Good luck!
