Advice on Moving Off-Grid

Living off grid

Mr. Creekmore my wife and I would like to find a place in the country, but a lack of money stands in our way. We really want to do this at least within the next year or so, do you have any suggestions on moving off the grid, with little cash and a strong desire to become as independent from the system as possible. A lot of people dream of leaving the rat race and getting back to a more simple why of life, of moving back to the land where we can be free to live their life as they see fit. To make it on their own without a boss barking orders, or nosy neighbors watching their every move.

But the one obstacle standing in the way is money, the almighty dollar (which is getting less mighty everyday), you need money to buy land build a house construct a barn, drill a well, etc. Or so we have been lead to believe by magazines such as the Mother Earth NewsMother earth news - Living off grid.

Yes it does take money, but not nearly as much as you think. You might sell that extra car setting in the drive way for enough, or trade it for a van that you could live in to avoid paying rent and stash the money away for six months or so and have enough to complete your goal, or maybe you could keep your wage slave job (if you still have one), putting the extra money back until you obtain an adequate amount, then tell your degenerate boss to go screw himself. Now that would be nice…

Whatever you do don’t go into debt! You want to relax and enjoy life, if you are in debt even for a few thousand dollars, you can not be truly at ease. You always will always worry about getting that monthly bank payment up, or risk loosing everything you have worked for. Stay out of debt.

One alternative, after finding your property, is to purchase a good used travel trailer, finding one in perfect shape for under $2,000 is common if you do a little searching around. After getting everything set up, you will have all the comforts of home with minimum cash out lay. Live in the trailer, and work on building your home as finances permit.
