A complete collapse of government or authority of one over another is the wet dream of many armchair survivalist and teenage boys. They imagine being thrown into the world of Mad Max
Don’t get me wrong the current government could suffer a total collapse leading to loss of power and control, but it’s not very likely – governments don’t relinquish power easily, the U.S. has implemented deep rooted plans to stay in power after even the most devastating disaster.
A disaster so massive and widespread to forego the regime of the empire would most certainly devour you in the process. If you’re better prepared to survive disaster than the federal government, I envy you and plead on hands and knees for you to share your greatness.

Once classified documents detail extensive plans for the continuity of government – massive relocation plans of officials to emergency bunkers, hardened communication networks and plans to seize resources (food, fuel, medications etc.)

No governments wants to give up power… as the economy destructs, the government goes into 'hunker down' mode, storing arms, food, communications, and retaining a central command over the armies and other fighting forces… We the people are often left to fend for ourselves…. so, it is prudent prepare in advance for self survival…. no one else is going to do anything for you… you have to do it yourself…
