1. It sucks to be us.

2. Just ruined my morning coffee and muffin!

• The muffin wouldn’t be good for you anyway.
Time to read “Wheat Belly” and “Grain Brain.”

3. As a “world currency”, the collapse of the dollar WILL affect everyone. Those who are outside of this country, who are “looking forward” to the collapse of “the Great Satan” are in for a very rude awakening. Our spending (and giving) permeate every semi or better society on the planet. Without the US dollar and the potential of US military intervention, this is going to be a very messed up planet.

• riverrider says:

roger that jp! foreign aid, military stability, deterrence to china/russia, food aid to africa, plus in my opinion the world’s currencies are too interconnected to the dollar and therefore will fail right along side ours. those expats seeking safety elsewhere will likely find they are the first targets of the poor in every country due in part by their status as expats. the first thing a failing regime does is try to blame the outsiders for ruining things. tag, you’re it.

• Foreign aid ? only in the form of birth control .
Threat of US military intervention ? Enough of that , we dont practice what we preach , we cant afford it , making more enemies than friends because of it , we are not the former Soviet Union . I dont see Putin sending Russian Soldats everywhere he disagrees with .

True that about foreigners being scapegoats when things get bad .

Vigilant Isolationism is not a bad thing .
” Trade with all , ally with none ”

4. I am not a smart man Jenny, but i do know that this will happen.

5. mindyinds says:

Oh, Lord. So should I put in for my Social Security, tiny pension, etc. a few years early just so I can use that money before it evaporates?

• Mindyinds,

Do the math here. Determine the amount of money you would get if you waited. Calculate the amount of money you would lose if you drew early. If the penalty is less than your projected inflation, do it. One reason why the feds are misrepresenting inflation (giving a low ball figure), is that if folks realized the real rate of inflation, they would cash in and invest in tangible assets.

There are a couple of reasons to think we are many years away from the world currency collapse. The feds will force everyone who has a private retirement accounts into bonds. They already did this with social security. Most folks think that social security is this huge trust accruing interest. It’s not. It’s one big I.O.U. from the federal government. They’ve used the social security we’ve all paid into all these years to fund the general fund–i.e. to pay for their big spending. The feds will rob our retirement accounts (force us into bonds) before they allow the dollar to collapse.

I think we face an eventual war with China, who holds the second highest amount of American debt. (Social security holds most of our debt.) If we declare them terrorists or whatever the catchword of the day happens to be, we don’t have to pay them back. If we win, we will force them to pay reparations and wipe out the debt we (our debt) owe them.

• worrisome says:

Good advice Bam Bam. Depending upon your age Mindy, being able to double up on income totally out weighs any loss of future social security increases. Meaning that if you can continue to work while drawing your social security, you then have the ability to save or invest that extra income in preps or gold or lead or whatever fits your concerns of the moment. Temper what I just said with some idea of how long you might live and need that social security income……some folks have families with longevity, others do not.

• BamBam said, <blockquote cite="http://www.thesurvivalistblog.net/dollar-collapse/" "If we win, we will force them to pay reparations and wipe out the debt we (our debt) owe them."

Actually history says that if we win, we will spend billions rebuilding them so that they can beat us in the global economy, thus making it all worse.

• I agree, Bam Bam… that if the collapse happens slowly, raiding our retirement accounts, IRA’s and other savings instruments will be a tool that the government uses to stave off the inevitable. But, if the collapse is forced upon us by another event such as, OPEC nations announcing that they will no longer accept the U.S. Dollar… or China and Russia announcing something similar… I believe our economy will last less than a week… and DHS will get to use their 2700 assault vehicles and 1.6 billion rounds of ammunition. And, we will finally know for sure if the FEMA camps are real or not.

• It is academic in any case. If your money isn’t physically sequestered in a place known only to you, it will be used in a bail-in shortly. Even if you are hoarding it, hyperinflation will reduce its purchasing power, which is the intent and motivation of QE. The Chinese aren’t happy because they discovered the Fed’s intention to inflate their holdings into worthless TP. They are still converting those holdings into physical infrastructure in this country as quickly as they can. There are several Chinese towns being built in Idaho, on land the Chinese exchanged for toxic assets. If you live in Idaho, you’d be well advised to learn Mandarin.

I am so glad that I live in a sparsely-populated area. I’d feel better if I was about 150 miles west, but you do the best you can with what you have, where you are. And, so, we prep.

7. I believe he underestimates Israel when it.comes to their neighbors. I know the United States has an interesting and.controversial alliance, but we try to keep their military on a leash, not because they don’t have the ability, but because we try to keep the region from exploding. If they are let off the leash, they have enough firepower to handle their neighbors.

• worrisome says:

I can only hope so N2Y.

• I agree N2Y, and if backed into a corner Israel will use their nukes rather than face genocide.

• This is true BK. The rallying cry for Israel is never again. They say they will die to the last person before they become slaves to another country again. I think people here think that the Jewish people are like the one’s met in the United States but they would be wrong. In Israel they live everyday surrounded by enemy’s and under a constant threat of being attacked. This will give you a different outlook.

• He also sells God short. The bible indicates that Israel will suffer some, but God will win their wars!

• We’d wind up in a better situation if we used that leash on our own treasonous military.
Treason is defined in the Constitution at Article 3, Section 3, as consisting “only in levying War against (the United States), or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort.”
All members of the American military take an oath to “support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; (and to) bear true faith and allegiance to the same.”
When the military is committed to foreign actions without a declaration of war by Congress, as required by Article 1, Section 8, Paragraph 11 of the Constitution, that is a violation of the Constitution, arguably the action of domestic enemies.
When a member of the military participates in an unconstitutional foreign military deployment, s/he violates both the Constitution and his/her oath to “support and defend” it, giving “aid and comfort” to it’s “domestic enemies,” committing treason by the definition given by the Constitution.

8. mom of three says:

Time to make a move!

• Maam, I don’t know you and you don’t know me. I read your comment and felt impressed to suggest this to you. Everyone believes something and everyone disbelieves something. Some things it doesn’t matter if you believe it or not, they are still true and will occur.
As a Mom of three I presume you are concerned about the future. Please read these three books, “Four Blood Moons” by John Hagee, “The Harbinger” by Jonathan Cahn and “The End Of America” by John Price. They will give you great insight of the future and will suggest a path of action. Thank you for reading my reply. The best to you and your children.

9. Peter Herigodt says:

All that I can say is put your trust in God. Pray and Hope for the best.Always do the wright thing, and you will be alright.Keep faith, and start prepping now.Start little by little.

10. I have read the various opinions about where to live and think that a small “market town” type place that is used as a place to come to for the various small towns and farms in the area is likely the best alternative.

This gives you enough services to be more survivable, but still far enough out with a smallish population.

My town has about 8K for the population, but since it services 5-7 counties (depending on the service) has pretty good services including health care which I think is an important consideration.

Any time you are an hour or more from good medical help (they don’t call it the golden hour for nothing) you are walking into situation that I think has a higher probability of getting you than the issues you are trying to run away from.

Try and find a “market town” off the interstate system with some geographic boundary separating it from “out side” areas if possible.

Even though I live in the country I can still get to an international airport as fast as my family members who live in a city of 2.1 million. They drive through heavy traffic, I drive through country and small towns/cities.
