Facebook in fresh privacy row with new policy—ed7a7424d5a0065acda9be7e873ec657—151
Under the newly proposed policy, Facebook says, “You give us permission to use your name, profile picture, content, and information in connection with commercial, sponsored, or related content.”

The new plan would “dramatically expand the use of personal information for advertising purposes,” said a letter this week to the US Federal Trade Commission by six privacy organizations.

The letter said the changes violate a 2011 consent order with the US watchdog agency and urged the FTC to “act to enforce its order.”

If the changes take effect, the letter said, “Facebook users who reasonably believed that their images and content would not be used for commercial purposes without their consent will now find their pictures showing up on the pages of their friends endorsing the products of Facebook’s advertisers.”

I will look into that. That is enough for me to delete the account…

MD… here’s more info on the new FB policy that was posted today.

Will Facebook’s New Privacy Policy Provoke a User Exodus?

NANN! September 7, 2013 at 2:21 pm

Facebook has been doing this for quite some time. I manually deleted all my pics and info, then deleted my account a couple years ago because they were constantly changing crap. Every time they did, all of my private info was available to anyone who looked…email, phone number, etc. I got tired of changing my privacy settings every time they “made changes”.

I made most of my “private info” up when I signed up so no matter who reads it all they will get is fake info and misdirection…

Still watching our money, but I got a Amazon gift card from someone and I order both of MD’s books and Encyclopedia of Country living. Looking forward to reading them.

Prayers to all.

I don’t mix my facebook life with most other aspects of my online life, especially not this aspect.

Marti September 8, 2013 at 7:46 pm

I’m with Linda Lou, I do not do face book for security/privacy reasons.

maddie September 8, 2013 at 9:34 pm

Same here. I’ve been moving away from them because of their new policy and because I’m just sick of most of the crap that is on there, even from my own family. Clueless morons! Who is dumb enough to post that they are leaving for a 2 week vacation in Alaska???? One of my best friends did and I could not believe it. Sorry MD, but fb is one place I just do not want to be.

Chuck Findlay September 9, 2013 at 5:20 pm

Same thing here. I don’t need Facebook and all the bad that goes with it. Freedoms are being taken away fast enough, i don’t need to help them along by being on Facebook.
