I like to have at least 6 month's to a year's worth of every-day items. Doing this plants me firmly in the reality of what I need. Last month, laundry detergent was an item I was shocked to find I had less than one month's supply left. Needless to say, I now have easily over 6 month's quantity on hand. Today, so far, my list includes: tooth paste, coffee, socks and trash bags. It may sound a little silly to do this but if you were suddenly unable to get these items, you'd kick yourself for not having the foresight to get them when they were available. Neat book. On his web site he said to send him $5 and he will get it to you. I noticed that the stamp on the package was for $4.95 so Mr. Garlington is selling these books for a nickel plus postage. Can not figure that one out. I am thinking about sending him a Christmas card with a couple of bucks in it since he is only making a nickel on the book. Next I need to buy steel-toed boots.

I have done a lot of lot of chainsaw work and never bothered with protection other than a hard hat and steel-toed boots. They measure 48"X12"X12" and probably were used to store military warheads at one time. They are perfect long term storage for my surplus military rifles. You could comfortably fit 4 carbines in each. Properly prepared and stored with either vapor corrosive inhibitor or cosmoline, they should last forever. Beats the pants off of the PVC tube concept - if you don't plan on burying them ;-)

Got a Xantrex xPower 1500, 80 watt solar panel w/j...

Got a Xantrex xPower 1500, 80 watt solar panel w/j-box and Morning Star controller! She needed a revolver due to some arthritis with her hands; she struggles trying to rack the slide with auto pistols. Filled water containers. Purchased vacuum food saver & extra bags. Got my yearly flu shot. Purchased additional year of vitamins. Had my best friend come over & we installed the generator transfer switch. I was off a couple days down with a cold, so it slowed me down some, so I made out my Christmas wish list. Searched for a retreat property, yikes! Paid off one of my credit cards, paid another off last month, one remains with a balance still. I tried to convince several friends to begin some minor prepping, but very unsuccessful with my attempts, they are unconcerned. Congratulations with new book, as I will pick one up too!
Tony

Picked up 250 rds of various caliber ammunition. s...

Picked up 250 rds of various caliber ammunition. stashed 12 Lbs of calcium hypochlorate 65% for making bleach (water treatment).
