US Pastor Sentenced To Death By Egyptian Court For Burning Koran : “Terry Jones, the Florida pastor who made national and international news for burning copied of the Koran, has been sentenced to death by an Egyptian Court. The Court convicted Jones absentia on Wednesday and tied him to the controversial anti-Islam film that the Obama administration blamed for the attacks in Benghazi, Libya, where four Americans lost their lives including the U.S. Ambassador.”

The top ten best places to be born in 2013 : The U.S. did not make the list. “Though America may be known as the “land of opportunity,” Switzerland will be the best place to be born in 2013 according to a quality-of-life index from the Economist Intelligence Unit.”

Obama’s Tax Increases Fund Government for Eight Days : “In an interview with MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell, Rep. Tom Price (R-GA) said President Barack Obama’s plan to raise taxes on the wealthy would only generate enough revenue to fund the federal government for eight days.”

Whatever happened to the right to be left alone? : “The Fourth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution was written in order to keep the government from invading the right to be left alone–today known as the right to privacy.”

Your health : Hawthorn- Your Heart’s Favorite Herb : What is hawthorn doing while it’s hard at work on your heart and circulatory system? It moves the blood along keeping the arteries and vessels open and elasticized, allays pain, keeps, promotes excellent circulation throughout the whole body, rebuilds the heart and venous system and fibers, provides vital antioxidants, reduces inflammation, strengthens the heart’s pumping action, lowers cholesterol, removes plaque, steadies the heartbeat, increases the heart’s capability to endure oxygen deficiency, balances heart irregularities, and binds to heart cell receptors for on-site healing. Pretty amazing, right?

Gitmo Detainees in Your Backyard? : “The Democratic chairwoman of the Senate Intelligence committee commissioned a federal report to identify prison facilities in the U.S. that are suitable for housing Guantanamo detainees.”

Deadly ‘superbugs’ invade U.S. health care facilities : “A USA TODAY review finds that deadly CRE bacteria are showing up in hospitals and other health care facilities across the country and there is virtually nothing to stop these “superbugs” at this point.”

Government Debt: Why The U.S. Dollar Is In Trouble? : “By recklessly printing, borrowing and spending money, our authorities are absolutely shredding confidence in the U.S. dollar. The rest of the world is watching this nonsense, and at some point they are going to give up on the U.S. dollar and throw their hands up in the air. When that happens, it is going to be absolutely catastrophic for the U.S. economy.”

  1. US Pastor Sentenced To Death By Egyptian Court For Burning Koran.

Now I don’t begrudge anyone their religious beliefs, however this “gentleman” has gone out of his way to enrage Muslims. Just because you don’t agree with them, does not mean you get to judge them. If he is trying to use scripture to show them they are “wrong” there are several ways to do this, but not his way.

Besides I doubt he will be traveling to the Middle East anytime in the near future.

    • JP in MT,

Yep, he knows how to tick them off (it don’t take much) but he has done nothing but exercise free speech and to execute someone for burning a book goes to show the mind-set of these “peaceful” Muslims.

      • Don’t get me wrong, I’m not condoning the Muslim response. But if you kick a gator, don’t whine because you get bit. Even if you have the right to kick said gator.

        • JP in MT,

To be honest I’m surprised that they have not tried to kill him on U.S. soil – there are many already here that would do the deed without hesitation. If I were him I would watch my 6 at all times – but then I do that already.

          • village idiot says:

He watches, MD, or so I’ve heard. I’m pretty sure there are Islamists trying to kill him as we speak. He is a brave man, one of the few left in this country. That Americans can be tried openly in foreign countries and sentenced to death by our supposed allies is disturbing at the very least, especially when our government is giving Egypt billions of our dollars every year in foreign aid.

        • Everyone that has seen Swamp People knows that gun wielding rednecks beat gators every time. Just sayin’….

          • HomeINsteader says:

Those gun-wielding rednecks are good people. I know them. They’d give you the tattered shirt off their backs (and they might not own too many shirts!), but, they don’t care. You could still have it. And they will ALWAYS have your back, once you get to know them. But they’re like mountain folk – make one mad, you’ve made ‘em all mad. And no one makes a better gator etouffee (ay-two-fay, for ‘furners). Love these people!

      • No u. s. court ever sentenced a christian to death for insulting the god of the bible. Some clown once urinated into a jar and inserted a cross. He later died of aids but not from a death sentence.

    • I am all for it!!!!!! Just as soon as they execute the muslims that burn the Bible and execute Christiians just for being Christians!!! Oh wait their “religion” only works for them and not everyone like most of the other ones do.

  2. I sure am proud of how our federal elected officials have recognized a major problem, put aside their ideological differences, and are diligently working long hours to do whatever it takes to fix it.

  4. The Hawthorn article is VERY interesting. That’s been one of my bigger concerns when TSHTF, what am I going to do for my BP meds. Dr. will only prescribe me six months worth at a time, what’s one to do when their supply runs out? I will discuss this option with my Dr., try it out, if it works this is something that I can grow myself and never have to worry about it again. Thanks!

Here’s my thought.. I don’t have high blood pressure, but a form of anemia…..If I try a thing, whatever it is, and it helps me control my issue to an extent, maybe not quite as good as a medication…but it helps me manage my condition with half my meds, then I am able to use half my normal meds. That means I can put some meds up for a later use now. When my supply is interrrupted, then I can be sure how I will take care of that problem.

Re: Gitmo – If they are too dangerous to return home, then I don’t know. How about a prison on Plum Island?

Re: Superbacteria – they are everywhere already. The elderly are especially at risk. But all it takes is breaking the skin and not treating it well immediately.
People have forgotten how dangerous germs were prior to penicillan and tetracycline. We need to be very careful. Many people have poor hygiene and their germs are everywhere.

    • If the prisoners in Gitmo are too dangerous to send back home then how about a bullet in the head instead of taxpayers having to pay to keep them alive?

      • Tactical G-Ma says:

        T2Rs,
I thought seriously about the bullet.

Are Americans so degenerate that our word is no good?
We signed the Geneva Convention. The prisoners in Cuba are prisoners-of-war. If the war is over then a special tribunal tries them. If the war is not over the only legal thing we can do is hold them or release them.
Now, IMHO, if they didn’t hate America before being held and tortured, they do now. If released, are they going to run home and be good citizens? Would you?

        • The Last American says:

War has never been declared, so they are not prisoners of war. Nit-picky, I know.
Obummer will move the terrorists out of Gitmo because just like Jimmy Carter, who gave the Canal away, he plans to turn the whole Naval base over to Castro.
Then the Russians and Chinese can start planning a full assault on us from both the Artic and South America.

Just think, we go over the Fiscal Cliff, scrape much of our Navy, and we get Russian subs and a maybe a Carrier in the Gulf of Mexico. Interesting times we live in.

          • Russia is interested in bases both in Cuba and Venezuela. Chavez has offered an island off the coast of Venezuela as a base.

Then there’s possible closure of Lajes field in the Azores. Guess who’s interested in that if we ditch it.

          • Tactical G-Ma says:

            TLA,
GW did declare war. He declared war on terrorism. That gave him the power to incarcerate and torture POW’s. Our nation is in a state of war. Otherwise the detainees would have constitutional rights. Homeland security can now listen to phone conversations, enter homes, even detain anyone because we are in a state of war.

            • Tactical G-Ma,

Yep, it worked great to give the federal government practically unlimited power to do whatever they want whenever they want all in the name of the “war on terrorism”. Could not have worked out better in that regard – kind of like it was all planed.

            • The President has no power or authority to declare war.

Article II, Section 2 of the Constitution gives to the Executive Branch the command of the nation’s armed forces, while Article I, Section 8 gives to the Legislative Branch the power to decide when the United States goes to war.

In other words only Congress can declare war. Bush might have declared war on terrorism (just another sound bite) but that does not make it an official declaration of war. Just like the War on Drugs is not a war but a catchy sound bite to describe a law enforcement policy.

            • Tactical G-Ma says:

              T2Rs,
I can’t dispute what you say about who can declare war. And it is possible I am confused. Therfore, I will defer to your knowledge. Thanks for the information.

            • Tactical G-Ma says:

              The Last American,
              I rechecked my facts:
Congress approved engagement in the Afghanistan War also known as Operation Enduring Freedom, S.J.Res.23, September 14, 2012. The Senate vote was unanimous and the House had one nay. The War is ongoing.

Congress approved the Iraqi War, known as Operation Iraqi Freedom, H.J.Res.114, March 3, 2003. The Senate vote was 77-23 and the House was 296-133. Officially ended December 15, 2011.

The United States of America is in a state of war.

            • Tactical G-Ma says:

              MD and pack,
I have heard that if the Gitmo detainees are brought to U.S. soil, they will then no longer be POWs but prisoners with constitutinal rights. I cannot substanstiate this.

        • Terrorist are not soldiers. They wear no uniform and conduct themselves outside of the Geneva convention.Giving terrorist Geneva convection rights is as dumb as giving illegal immagrints constitutional rights.

        • As far as I ‘m concerned we should just convert the entirety of the middle east, end to end, side to side to side, top to bottom (and include all the ‘stans) to a lake of molten glass. Once it cools seed it with a few donkeys and goats and let it start over.

Watching our monetary system get destroyed by our elected officials, who don’t have the guts to fix it or even acknowledge what the problem is, like the “illegal” Federal Reserve, reminds me of a comic book from my youth. Kinda sums it up for me. Keep investing in those precious metals, lead, copper, and 1095 Carbon Steel.

    • Pineslayer,

Great point and I would add….the elected officials are merely a reflection of a society who (as a whole) does not have the guts to fix the problem. People don’t want real solutions, they want to continue to live as they have been, please don’t rock the boat. So their elected officials give them what they want and the can is kicked down the road even further.

What elected official would vote to raise taxes on everyone, or vote to cut from any entitlement program? Both would need to be done but that is political suicide, because the people wouldn’t stand for it.

      • Tactical G-Ma says:

        PJ,
I sat on the town planning committee years ago. We were attempting to remedy blight and come up with a plan like so many tourist locations have. But everything suggested was shot down by whomever had to make a change. The people preferred to go into a total slum like state rather than a few changes that would help everyone.
Politicians, dem or rep, don’t want cuts because someone will have to change either their constituants or their bed partners or maybe their paychecks. I honestly believe the government, all three branches have become so corrupt that this country will fail. It’s sad, but people would prefer sinking than swimming because they don’t WANT to swim.

      • Pineslayer says:

PJ, I agree, unfortunately. It would appear that the only way to change things is for a total collapse and then try and rebuild. On a happy note, it will be easier to rebuild when all the lazy and stupid die off. OK that might not be a happy note. Just trying to find a bright spot, not having much luck.

Best meteor shower of the year coming in December

Mild comfortable nights of observing are now behind us. As we approach the Winter Solstice on December 21 at 6:12am (the earliest date and time for this astronomical event since 1896), our days grow shorter while the nights grow longer. Amateur astronomers like the early sunsets and the longer nighttime skies, but the cold temperatures can shorten one’s observing session quite effectively. However, unless we get slammed with frequent and fast moving weather fronts during meteorological winter (December thru February), the skies can be very clear and transparent. For those of you who own telescopes of any size should take that opportunity to focus your instruments on the planet Jupiter. On December 1, this Jovian world will be at its closest distance to the Earth. Though still just over 378,000,000 miles away, Jupiter and his four Galilean moons reveal a lot of detail to even a casual observer using a telescope. On that date this fifth planet from the Sun can be found to the left of the Hyades asterism in Taurus, and almost five degrees from Aldebaran, the red star that marks the eye of the bull. While Jupiter will be observable for the next several months, the upcoming Geminid meteor shower will peak on the night of December 13-14 (Thursday night to Friday morning). The Geminids are currently the best meteor shower of the year for northern hemisphere viewers, and the New Moon will not be present to brighten the sky. Therefore, from a dark sky location an observer should potentially observe 60+ meteors per hour at peak, which is predicted to occur sometime between midnight and 4:00am EST. But for those of you who don’t wish to observe into the wee hours of the morning, the Geminids do provide observers an opportunity to see a decent display during the pre-midnight hours. Why? Gemini, the constellation from where the shooting stars appear to radiate, is about 30 degrees above the eastern horizon by 9:00pm. You’ll know you’ve seen a Geminid if you can trace the origin of the meteor’s trail back to the radiant point near Gemini’s brightest stars, Castor and Pollux.

Note from HomeINsteader: No, the world as we know it WILL NOT end on Dec. 21, per the Mayans. I have not researched it to know whether it is true, but I’ve read that the Mayans simply did not have the “symbols” (language system) that would allow them to calculate beyond this date. Whatever the reason they stopped their calendar on this date, it has nothing to do with anything in terms of world events. How do I know? (1) Holy G-d has told us everything we need to know about our future, the “whys” and “hows'”, and, to some extent, even “when”…it’s all in His Word; He’s told us everything we need to know; (James (2) this is a date chosen by men; Holy G-d does not operate by the assignments, the whims, or the will of men. Men operate by the will of Holy G-d, with or without human consent. The Omniscient, Omnipresent, Alpha and Omega, One True G-d is still on His Throne, and He will always remain in control. So if you’ve been worrying about Dec. 21, there is no need. Nothing will happen on that date or any other date that is not permitted by Holy G-d, for the purpose of bringing about His perfect Will for all of us, whom He loves deeply. He loved us so much, He gave us “the way out”. His name is Y’eshua/Jesus Christ.

    • While the whole “Mayan Prophecy” thing is ridiculous and once again demonstrates the level of stupidity in the worlds general populace wouldn’t it be ironic if a huge chunk of rock just happened to come hurtling out of that part of the skies that aren’t watched and gobsmacked us on Dec. 21. You’d just have to look up and go “Damn Mayans”…lol

      • Tactical G-Ma says:

I don’t recall a “Mayan Prophecy”. I thought the Mayan calendar at one of the temples ended pn the 21st. And there was no prophecy other than whackos trying to sell papers, books, doomsday crap, etc. who came up with the idea that there wouldn’t be a 22nd. The question is: why did they end their calendar on the winter solstace of this year?
Could very well be that they believed the calendar would start back at day 1. Or maybe their scribes went on strike. Who knows? But it makes for a good story.

        • I’ve read up some on this. The Mayans didn’t make any end of the world predictions. December 21st marks the end of the Great Cycle, which is 5125.36 years. December 22nd is day one of a new Great Cycle and is supposed to be met with celebrations, like we currently celebrate New Years. The Mayans were highly intelligent mathematicians. Not God.

While I do not worry about aliens falling from the sky, I do sometimes wonder about evil doers trying to accomplish something sinister on that date in order to attempt to fulfill the prophecy (e.g. massive cyber attack on the grid). I guess we’ll find out soon enough.

      • Tactical G-Ma says:

        PJP,
You have a valid concern because I know there are crazies who will obsess over just about any crazy myth. Remember He and She who had people sell and give away all their possessions. Then took them to the desert for alien pick-up? How many more even more malign schemes have gone on because someone became “Chicken Little”.

I saw or read somewhere of a man who saw people get rich just before Y2K and 9/11. So when someone brought out the idea of a Mayan Calendar ending he immediately started up an online business for preppers. Now, i am just using this one example while there are many, but it is to his benefit to perpetuate this myth. Next thing you know many people are making doomsday plans that we have already seen include murder suicide.

  15. I have to weigh in on the price of this stove. Some have mentioned that the cost seems high. But I have been in metal manufacturing in the USA for 23 years and know what things cost. What people don’t understand is that in the US we have much more stringent safety, environmental and insurance regulations we have to meet compared to oversees competition. And of course our labor rates are that much higher as well. Knowing the industry very well, this product appears to be priced just about right if not a touch cheaper than I would have expected. It’s difficult to price compare our US made products against something in China. China prices will always win of course. But what’s the big benefit of buying that Chinese product? You save a few bucks but you employ their people instead of ours. You send your money over there instead of keeping it here. You support their poor labor and safety practices. Your new product then gets tossed aboard a truck, boat and another truck to be moved half way around the world just to get to you. What does that do to your children’s environment for their future? I digress, but I just wanted to shed a little light on the American manufacturing business from the eyes of someone who knows it well. I did buy one of these stoves because I applaud a company who is willing to risk having to go up against the unreasonably cheap Chinese prices instead of caving in only to make more profit. I say good for these guys! If you agree with anything I’ve said here, consider it the next time you make a purchase of a product that can bought from an American manufacturer. Sorry. I’ll get off my soap box now.

    • Pineslayer says:

Tom Foley, stay on your soapbox please, I agree. In my prepping these days I always look at where things are manufactured. If I can’t find a new product produced in this country or at least on this Continent, I hit the thrift stores and look for vintage U.S. stuff. Even by purchasing used U.S. goods I am supporting my local stores and my neighbors. Besides electronic stuff, which we don’t buy much, I have found that we are able to find enough locally produced stuff to get it done. Yes it may cost more, so what? It is better than sending my money overseas.

    • HomeINsteader says:

I totally agree with you, Tom. We are our own worst enemies. While corporate greed is a huge part of the answer to why the jobs moved to China, individual consumer greed has at least as much a part in it. We want cheap. When it breaks after 6 months or a year, big deal – we’ll just go buy another one. And when that one breaks, it, too, will clog the landfill or end up at the bottom of the ocean. We won’t even worry about the toxic paint finishes or the dangerous parts, the poisonous metal components, or the dangerous dyes. We don’t care. We want cheap and plenty of it. And we don’t care how many Americans are unemployed in the process.

We have funded the Chinese war machine that will soon come against us.

State lawmaker says “dissolving Detroit” should be an option

Detroit is at a political impasse that could lead to a financial collapse next month.

Now, one state legislator is saying Lansing should consider “all its options”—including possibly dissolving the city as a municipality.

The idea of dissolving Detroit—and effectively merging it with Wayne County—has popped up occasionally in some business and political circles recently.

But mid-Michigan senator Rick Jones is the first official to publicly discuss that as an option.

Jones says Detroit’s local leaders just aren’t dealing with the city’s fiscal problems—and having the state’s biggest city file for municipal bankruptcy would be “horrible.”

“I think everything is on the table,” Jones said. “ I would be willing to consider dissolving the city, if that’s what it took.

“One of the options could be actually dissolving the city of Detroit, and putting all of their functions back into Wayne County. That is possible.”

Still, Jones acknowledges this merger scenario is “unlikely.” He says the prevailing discussion in Lansing is about bankruptcy versus some kind of state intervention.

Lawmakers in Lansing are also considering passing a revised version of the emergency manager law voters overturned in November.

Detroit faces the possibility of running out of cash in mid-December.

Detroit is crime ridden and it’s government is rife with fraud and deceit. Since there is no possibility of any honest leadership there and there no longer is any tax base to support it, it needs to be razed. I feel so bad for those that are there that are honest, hardworking and trying to make a difference………..where is the hope and the help for them?

      • Put the name of any city in America in the first sentence and you have what our country has become.

This happened beginning in the 1970’s, when the Big 3 Automakers started winding down operations in Detroit due to slackening sales, and started moving operations overseas. The U.S. had very stupidly passed a law that if a foreigner married a US citizen, that foreigner AUTOMATICALLY gained US citizenship (which was later repealed – too late!). The US also made HUGE amounts of money available to entice “foreign exchange students”, believing it was necessary to propel us toward a more internationally-inclusive world to come, and there was SOME merit to that particular concern.

Men from India, Pakistan, and many Muslim nations flocked to US universities under the guise of “foreign exchange student” where they could find vulnerable American women who longed to be crooned over and courted “in a certain way”, vis-a-vis the Hollywood examples from the big screen. These men learned that certain way. They quickly married and integrated into US society. A few of the young women caught on, but, most did not. I was there – I witnessed it.

Now, some of you are saying, “so, what’s the big deal?” The Muslims were watching; they saw the opportunity and pounced on it. It is forbidden in the Q’uran for a Muslim to marry a non-Muslim – EXCEPT: like everything else, it is o.k. to do “whatever it takes to overcome the infidel” (any Non-Muslim). So, it’s o.k. to ignore the “scriptural commands” of the Q’uran if it helps convert or defeat anyone who is not a Muslim. That means “anything” – lie, steal, cheat, commit fornication or adultery, abuse, misuse, murder, whatever it takes. The Q’uran repeats that message hundreds of times.

So these Muslim men came to the US, married starry-eyed, Hollywood-influenced young American women, automatically gained citizenship, and went to Detroit. Why? Because Detroit was hurting very badly. People were anxious for a “saviour”, any savior, as long as that “savior” saved them the way they wanted to be saved ($$$). Not much has changed, has it?

Anyway, Muslims bought up the deteriorating properties at greatly reduced prices, organized, threw money at the masses in various “charitable” ways; met the needs of frightened people who “just didn’t know what they were going to do”, and established the first Muslim enclave in the U.S.A. It was the first city to fall to the Muslims in the U.S. They have spread out from there.

And now you have the history of Detroit, Michigan, former American city. And they are on the move.

Make no mistake about it – they are not here for “peaceful purposes”. You know that Muslim family who has been in your ‘hood for years, and they are just the nicest people? Heck – their kids were born here, so, their kids are Americans, for heaven’s sake! I can hear some of you thinking, “you’re just paranoid”. Maybe. For a reason, if I am.

They’re here for a very specific purpose, and it will, soon enough, become quite apparent. To believe otherwise is complete deception. It is no surprise. We knew it was coming, and we didn’t stop it. We will reap what we have sown.

STACK IT HIGH, and be prepared! Bullets, beans, and band-aids (I’ve changed the order, you may notice.)

Sorry to say, Detroit is only a sample of things to come if we don’t get a handle on it.
