Years ago I came to “this country” not speaking a word of the native language and immediately went to a local government office with my best puppy dog face asking for a helping hand. They refused me immediately and threatened to arrest me on the spot (with non police personnel it seemed) and throw me into jail if I ever came back.
I then decided to go down to a popular street corner and tried to flag down some day labor type of work because we all needed to eat.
Every citizen that passed by was extremely hostile towards me screaming at me to leave in what I assumed was abusive language. They even rolled down their car windows and threw things at me. They weren’t very nice.
My baby needed diapers (my other 12 kids were ok) so I went to the local Wal-Mart and, while nobody was looking, I opened a package of Pampers and took one and snuck out the door quickly, changed the baby and left the used diaper in a shopping cart in the parking lot.
Finally, desperate and out of options, I decided that it was, time to get tough and go to a lawyer to sue those bastards! I may not be legal but I have rights as a human being, damn it!!
In less time than it took to write this, the lawyer, laughing hysterically, pushed me out the door and pointed towards the border and said “go, we don’t you!”
Sadly, I took the hint and wandered back across the border to my homeland.
Boy, its really tough to make a go of it in “this country” of … Mexico.

This would not happen in either Mexico or the United States, a lame attempt at humor, very lame.
I disagree on that remark very strongly
Not good. How long ago was this
I am so tired of reading posts that have so many grammar and spelling errors.
Anonymous 6:18 PM,
I have the perfect solution to your problem – stop reading. It's that simple. We're not competing for awards or trying to become the next E.B. White. We are only sharing information, if that's not enough maybe you need to move on.
Ok, you're not open to criticism, fine I can move on, no problem.

I've notice most of those complaining about grammar or spelling, often suffer the same in their comments.
Take your comment for instance:
"I am so tired of reading posts that have so many grammar and spelling errors."
Doesn't this sound better?
I'm tired of reading posts that have grammatical and spelling errors.
Criticism toward me is fine, just don't nitpick my readers and guest posters, I'm sure the writer of this post put a lot of thought and effort into this writing and should be commended for the contribution.
MD, good one.
Sometimes people try so hard to be shitty & negative they miss an opportunity to laugh.
To Anon 2:43, 6:18 & Hudson, look up the word "satire" and liberally apply.
PS for Anon 2:43 -
In 1974 I had the great privilege of being homeless in America for 6 months due to a disability. I received welfare, food stamps and medical by walking in the door and filling out the applications at one location. It was real easy, just had to show them an address of where to send my benefits.
I have since become a fairly successful executive but still have one of the original food coupon (stamps) as a reminder of where I was at one point in my life.
And finally, come to Southern California and I will gladly show you where you can witness, first hand, the aforementioned. I live with it daily.
Nice comeback M.D.
On another note, I emailed you about a movie Carriers. I wanted to know if you saw it or have plans to. If so, what did you think about it. I think it is a good movie for the subject matter on this site. If you don't know anything about it google it, there is a trailer.
Thanks, Rob
Rob,
Don't get to watch many movies but it sounds like a good one – if I get a chance I'll stop by the local rental store and pick it up. Thank you for the suggestion.
Like, I am soooooo tired of spelling errors and stuff! That's why I voted for a President that says "corpsemen" instead of "corpsman"!
It's like, sooooo imortant not to have a typo! I'd waaaaaaay rather read a blog that spells words correctly and can define what "is" is, than read some mean stuff like this!
When the country goes to shit, I will be…like…standing on the street corner, and stuff…turning tricks for guys that can't spell, but whatever I can't see my nose past my face…oh wait…what's that in my mouth?
Good thing we live in these here 57 states.
I got some greats laughs from the previous comments. I'm happy that you allow for the light side as part of his blog.
IF ALL THAT PERSON HAS GOT TO COMPLAIN ABOUT IS BAD GRAMMER,HE/SHE MUST HAVE AN EASY LIFE.NOTING THE COUNTRY HAS GONE TO HELL,YEAH THAT PERSON MUST HAVE IT GOING ON.FROM JAY IN NC
I didn't find the post funny but it did make me think about the double standard the sheeple have. When someone comes across the border illegally to work their butt off and support their family, that's frowned upon. But when someone sits on their butt all day waiting for the welfare check to come in so they can support their family with my hard earned money, the masses turn a blind eye. I don't like either, but I would much rather be around illegals that work than be surrounded by parasites that drain our economy and offer nothing to society. Just my .02
This blog is so popular because we don't criticize small meaningless subjects. We are all in this together and need to spend our precious time learning from each other. M.D. provides the subjects, we need to provide the intelligence.
Way to go Creekmore, many of us are not english majors or teachers. But if you understand the jist of the post, let it go.I think many feel better about themselves cutting down others.

I can appreciate your attempt @ humor…the scenario you wrote is so true in many cases, yet, it is not limited to ethnicity or nationality. Get that straight.
The other reality though is that there are those of us who came here illegaly (to the United States) and have worked our asses off, never receiving a hand-out, and become legal and contributing participants (citizens/permanent residents, etc.) in this land. I am a citizen of the USA and I love the foundation of our history here. This country was established (formally) by Divine inspiration and it is up to us to maintain our freedoms through active participation within our communities. The sooner we can acknowledge our interdependence, the sooner we'll be better prepared to handle the coming calamities.
Anonymous' narrative is an appropriate attempt to convey frustration but is unwarranted in its exclusive reference of "Mexican."
Listen up, those who harbor hate and are driven to degrade, before any one of us is a nationality, we are human beings. Within each ethnicity and race, we will find individuals with varying degrees of integrity or its opposite. Within each religion or non-religion we will find hypocrites and non-hypocrites.
So, let's laugh at ourselves as humans and not worry so much about categorical syllogisms.
A certain man said it best, "When making a comparison, it is most reasonable to compare the best from each class. You will likely find that they are not polar in nature."
I wonder if it really is satire.
I do recall reading somewhere that Mexico, like many countries, excludes non citizens from owning land, denies access to social programs like their version of welfare etc. and treats their south of the border legal imigrants like crap.
I am sorry that I can't recall where I read that story so I could pass it on here.
Feel free to grade this comment on sentence structure, grammar, spelling, font, and whatever other errors you deem reasonable.

I couldn't agree with you more. I see these "parasites" at the grocery store almost every week. They pay for their food with food stamps or WIC, and when they open their wallet to get such freebies, low and behold, they have a wallet FULL of money. When you happen to be in the parking lot with them after shopping…..low and behold….they're driving a frikin' Yukon or Escalade.
They are livin' the freebie good life. More to the point, not a single one of them looks like they come from another country to me.
I'm a construction foreman, and from experience, I would take a mexican over some deadbeat white boy or soul brother( Americans)any day when there's a deadline. They work and keep their mouths shut because they have a purpose. The deadbeats piss and moan all day because they're sweating.
The government has created this lazy behavior with the free line, and they wonder why America's youth has an astronomical rate of obesity.

Instead of criticizing, why not offer lessons to those whom do not know how to gramatically and spell-it-ically speak, write and so forth. Anyway, sometimes people do not treat others fairly. Many years ago, when there were immigrants coming to America, they had to become citizens which meant they had to file for 'legal' citizenship and do whatever this government therefore required. Many of us in this country right now have roots from Europe and other places (meaning that many of us have been born of foreigners) but I am wondering if those who are A-holes have even thought that through. Were their forefathers from this land or not? If not, then they have no room, right, etc. to attack another person because they have come from another land such as Mexico, Europe, etc. It's sad that many forefathers came from other lands, built up this country and then their children's children's children's children's (etc.) children are very ungrateful. What if there were no borders in any land, no government telling people what to do, no one so possessive as to wish harm upon another because "it's my land–get out!? What if???? Makes me wonder why so many are fighting over things that one day when they are so old they can't even stand up or get out of their beds that they will need someone to take care of them and should their family all die before they do, then who in the HE-LLO is going to take care of them? I know how things work in other countries and that people escaping into another land which looks, but may not be all that promising for them or their family, but to not help our neighbor is a bad thing. When times are hard, that foreigner that has been mistreated, if he has food, water and shelter, and a legal citizen (a person or persons who have been documented by their government) is in need but treated them badly, should the foreigner be willing to help the legal citizen? I think not and I would not blame them if they spit in the faces of the 'legal citizens' which treated them like SH*T.
Hey Jeff in So. Cal., I was laughing, bit I saw no truth.
I do not find a lot of humour here. The topic is a mixed one.Yes,Mexicans are very hard workers,I've known several. The problem is,they come here ILLEGALLY,and they bring their wives and children who sign up for free medical, free schooling, welfare, etc. Our system [which we have to pay into] covers their needs, even though they are illegal.I have a problem with this. They will work for HALF of what american workers will work for,so businesses love them, but the average Joe doesn't stand a chance,so he loses his job to an illegal, even if he is also a very hard worker.[Not all americans are lazy.]I also have a problem with that.NOW,I understand that our government is sending,or going to send SOCIAL SECURITY benefits to mexicans in Mexico, who came here ILLEGALLY and worked here, then returned to Mexico. Now if you don't have a problem with any of this,I'd say you are messed up,and deserve to lose your job to one, because I think you eventually will if our borders are not fixed soon.
Amen
