Is The World Going To End In 2012

Fear of an uncertain future, spurred by disasters protections put forth by interpretation of the ancient Maya cyclical calendar, have many people clamoring for answers and advice. For example; over the past several months, I’ve received over 100 e-mails from readers, seeking information on how to survive 2012.

The general consensus is that on Dec. 21, 2012, when the Maya’s “Long Count” calendar ends, the world will be thrown into apocalyptic chaos. Predictions range from polar reversal, shattering earthquakes, massive tidal waves, simultaneous volcanic eruptions, sunspots and sun flares, to peaceful transition into 2013.

The truth is no one knows for certain what will happen Dec. 21, 2012. Throughout history there have been many predictions of the end of the world, but the end hasn’t happened – yet. I put little faith in doomsday predictions or dates – most are nothing more than guesswork motivated by the agenda of the prophesier.

Yet, doomsday predictions for the year 2012 do have at least some validity, backed by scientific evidence, for example; NASA published predictions of a new solar cycle in 2011 or 2012, that it (NASA) says could wreak havoc with the power grid and electronic medium during that time.

I don’t know what, if anything, will happen on Dec. 21, 2012 – no one does. My advice is to plan and prep as usual and to be as prepared as possible for whatever the future may hold, whether it be economic collapse, tyranny, peak-oil, climate change, infectious disease or Mayan doomsday.

What do you think – will Dec. 21, 2012 usher in the end of the world as we know it, or just another day?

I'm not sure.

I'm pretty convinced that the Mayan calendar just starts over, much like our annual calendar does from 12/31 to 1/1 – from what I have learned, the Mayan calendar is based on the 12 signs and the placement of the Earth and solar system as it rotates around the center of our galaxy (see, back then they could actually see most of the visible stars and they had a few thousand years to pass down their observations).

Of course, one never knows for sure, until it happens, so being prepared for anything is always the best bet. Sadly, far too many people have become accustomed to living life as a consumer, and taking care of themselves is a foreign concept to be sure. Those are the people we are preparing against.

I worry more about the possibility of Obama being reelected than I do about the Mayan Calender coming to an end in 2012.

I just realized that my planner ends on june 30th 2010! clearly time and the world as we know it stops just because my calendar stops. Has anyone considered that maybe the mayans just thought that a calendar that went thousands of years in the future was good enough for the time being?

all of you people saying that god is a myth and that you should only believe in things that you can prove should know that nearly everything in science are just theory and speculation waiting to be disproved. If I believed only what I can see I would say that I don't believe that any of you atheists have brains. I've never seen them and there definitely isn't any evidence of them.

Some of these people remind me of those poor souls outside of Noah's ARC in the rain or those poeple in the 1930's Warsaw ghettos saying "Nothing is going to happen, we are too smart". You know it has already happened before. But dying isn't so bad if you are ready for it.

What's the point in worrying about things you are not 100% sure of, or do not have absolute knowledge about? That's right, no point in worrying. Consider your children/loved ones and give them the best things in life that they deserve before this poxy date occurs, that way IF it does happen at least you did your best by your kids. If it doesn't happen, then hey! they had all that precious time with you that they will never forget. Live for today….tomorrow never comes 'Rock on People'
