You CAN’T have too much ammo. It will be one of the currencies of the future when the dollar is worthless (and we are already well down THAT path). I even have ammo and reloading gear for guns I don’t own. Someone else will want it and will have something I don’t have but do want. No taxes involved, no government oversight. He/She gets some ammo, and I get the milk goat (or whatever).
Don’t advertise what you have. I won’t post any pix of my ammo storage. What I have is my business and no one else’s until TSHTF and I share with neighbors as needed.
I have the RIGHT to carry whenever I want and wherever I want. This RIGHT is not granted by the 2nd Amendment – it is affirmed by the 2A !! I will not get a concealed carry “permit” because that puts me on the books for confiscation and potentially makes me a target for thieves, when a-holes like the Arkansas newspaper editor Max at (501)663-6758 publish the names and addresses of CCW holders and they become targets for criminals.
When I moved here to North Idaho, I mentioned to a new neighbor (after getting to know him) that I had brought around 45,000 rounds of ammo with me. He just smiled bleakly and with an otherwise straight face said “Don’t worry, there’s still time to buy more.”
If you can afford it, buy extra boxes or cases a bit at a time and store them well. Not in cardboard crates on the back porch! Keep them dry and in an environment where temps don’t fluctuate too radically. A dry basement, in steel cans if possible, is ideal. Don’t like the idea of all that powder under your house? Fine, create a small buried bunker under the barn or shed or other outbuilding. Keep the cans off the dirt with pallets or other dry materials. Use felt paper for vapor barrier. Got a “seal-a’meal” device? Use that to keep ammo dry and safe in small batches. Be sure to keep scissors or knife nearby for rapid access. Ideally, seal magazines or clips LOADED to ~70% of capacity so the spring doesn’t get weak. That way, the ammo can be employed rapidly.
Don’t talk to cops; don’t answer ANY questions about guns or ammo. Don’t draw attention to your buying habits or storage location(s). Be prepared and when the time comes, act decisively and with the same level of contempt that the cops/BATFEces/etc. currently hold for YOU and your possessions.

I find it very distasteful, that so many people lump the police in with the undesireables. They are NOT the enemy. They have families that they worry about just like you do. Don’t give them reason to come down on you and you wont have a problem. When tshtf they are going to be a very important ALLY to have on your side. THEY will have information YOU will need. Alienate them now and you WILL be phuqued later. Just stay low key and you will be fine. I have them in my group, they conduct training exercises for my people and keep us abreast of the things we need to know that isn’t made known to the public… They are NOT the enemy, the political MACHINE IS. The “cop” of today is highly educated and KNOWS what is happening. They are just doing a job and go home at the end of the shift like everyone else. Continuing to bad name them is no different than being a racist and villifying someone based on their skin color,,, it’s total ignorance and a self fulfilling prophecy.
