Have you lightened up on your prepping: Why the election results cannot change what is and will be

“The debt limits have to come down. The whole world of debt has to be changed as far as this country is concerned. We have to create jobs and we have to create them rapidly because if we don’t things are just going to head in a direction that’s going to be almost impossible to recover from.” Donald Trump

An idea was presented and followed through upon, “what if we break from tradition and put someone in as president that has no real political background. Someone fresh, new and someone who will both divide the country further as well as galvanize others.” The follow through occurred and Trump was elected, The problems that plague this country still remain, our debt to income level is so high as a nation that if we were people they would have hung us decades ago. We have more troops abroad than any other nation and spend easily 4 times what others do for this policing, but at what cost and benefit? Our prison system turns out more hardened criminals daily than it takes in and it is several times larger than China, Russia, and Great Britain combined. The majority of these people having gone in for extended sentences for smoking or possessing a plant, not a violent legitimate crime.

Regardless your religious or moral background what I have gathered and seen time and again on this site is that pack members are staunchly freedom orientated. The unfortunate but very real side effect of this desire for freedom is that we are morally obligated to allow others to do what they will with their own bodies as long as their actions are not forced upon us. I am not writing this article to present anything other than the simple facts. PTSD is a well-known disease that afflicts tens of millions of people, possibly hundreds of millions.

The cause is clear, the human mind and body has been forced or coerced into doing something or seeing something it cannot handle and has shut down parts of memory causing lapses in memory and sometimes in severe cases extreme behaviorisms. It has affected humanity since humanity was born on this planet. However, we see easily 20 times the amount of soldiers today coming home suffering from it. Has anyone stopped to question why? Maybe what we are doing is immoral and maybe, just maybe we need to “water the tree of liberty with a bit of politicians blood” to paraphrase loosely what Jefferson so eloquently stated.

Of course, my even suggesting this flies in the face of everything we have all been taught since birth, obey authority, cops are good, vote more, don’t think about using violence to break away…vote again! Let me ask a simple question? Has voting ever really worked to benefit everyone? (the simple answer is NO) Voting only legitimizes the governments positions, because it means people not even close to the majority as we witnessed this last election, still, support the evil crap our political masters continue to do.

If this were a true republic or democracy, the mere fact that so many simply did not participate means one thing, most people DO NOT WANT to be governed by loud mouthed, bigots and child molesters in suits. (I know as far as we know Trump has never molested a child.) But how many others have, and have had it proven with the leaked emails and more?

Folks, my only take away as honestly, yours should be, is this. Don’t stop prepping, this nation is done for, we passed the tipping point over a decade ago, and all we have now are the dying gasps of a prematurely aged, bloated carcass as it tumbles sloppily into the same abyss that Greece, Rome, Persia and every other major power did before it. We the few who think ahead have to be prepared! It is up to us to ensure others see the simplicity of reality. As frightening as it may be. Our economy is killing us, and honestly, if you cannot see that…maybe you are not a prepper?

Just my thoughts, in no way, do these represent anyone of you nor am I trying too, I am simply expressing a view I have held close but find I cannot any longer. As always,

free the mind and the body will follow

  1. Good thoughts. Thanks.

    • Jesse Mathewson says:

      Thank you

      • I think we are no longer the popular kids. I think electing trump was an awful mistake. I realize it was on backlash from the elections, they felt they had to vote for trump because they didn’t like the other candidate. But the problem is we need a viable third party! I believe in the Constitution not the president. If we had a way to vote for a constitutional candidate, it would be a step in the right direction. Not perfect, but a start.
Meanwhile I will keep on keeping on.
Nothing changes for us except maybe I’ll need nausea medication and Valium.

        • Jesse Mathewson says:

          Sadly agreed

        • Anonamo Also says:

valerian is more assessable than valium. the only problem with third parties is the split it does usually to the most conservative candidate, enabling the most liberal to win.
IF we can get the dead, the illegal, all those who have NO identification.. ( no id= illegal, states that have id laws also provide for id for elderly and economically challenged to reecieve id free of charge or at nominal cost.)and the voting machines that do fractions of votes removed from our system…. we will back to a one person, one vote, for the republic system for electoral college we have. if electoral college is removed then new york and calif will determine who is president. our system is not perfect, but is better than mob rule.

        • Dave Fiebig says:

I voted for President Trump because I can’t stand Hillary. However, more importantly, I voted for President Trump because I decided I will never vote for one of the elites in politics again. Never a Jeb Bush who said he didn’t need the republican base, he just needed 100 million dollars and he would win the primaries. Nor Hillary who said she would win the election by spending one billion dollars, never mentioning the voters and then after losing she had lavish dinner receptions in New York and Washington DC to thank her billionaire donors. While President Trump was going city to city, holding huge rallies and thanking the people who voted for him. I will never vote for one of the ruling class, Bush, Clinton, Obama, McCain, Romney, Dole, AlGore, Newt, etc., ever again.

          • Jesse Mathewson says:

Trump can buy and sell all of the above. ..by definition making him ruling class..

            • Jesse….Your right he could and can be…
But, something tells me he isn’t like them…and that’s why they attack him so hard on both sides.

I think he really ‘SEES” what is behind the green curtain of the global elite emasculating this country and prepping it for their take over….they couch it in things like ‘Susatianable development’ when all that really is, is a land grab of epic porportions and the path to telling us where we can live, eat, work and how we conform…they shove it down our kids throats and passify them with “Common Core’ and ‘Standardized Systems”, they BS us with Main Stream media and teach us to believe we need to accept things that are not normally acceptable in human behavior…
You and I are from an older generation, where we respected our elders and the law and followed what was right….but the new generation is following themselves and the me me me idea of what it right and in the end is becoming pure hedonism…
              And it sickens me…

And all the families that Dave mentioned have been in on it since the beginning….Trump isn’t perfect but he is what we have and they cant buy, or bribe him and they hate him for it.

I just worry that the elite will finally just take the next step, as they did with Jackson, Lincoln and Kennedy and try to take him out.

The more I read and research the more I find that “The world is far far darker then the sheeple can truly see”….and most of them blindly and willingly follow the people behind the green curtain and the Agenda 21 crap.

              • Jesse Mathewson says:

Tech- yes the world can be very dark…but it is a small number of people making it so

                • TechQN & Jesse,
I think you both are correct; but, part of the preparedness mindset IMHO is eternal optimism. In the past two years I’ve lost some of my vision, my brother, my best friend and a few other friends; but, even with all of that, we’re still building up the homestead finishing plans that have been in progress for 30+ years, most recently with a whole house genset, new insulation and new furnace, and some additional windows later this month. If I was pessimistic, I might just spend it all on alcohol and drown my sorrows: but, that would not be true to who I am, and I personally know many folks like me not counting the many on this forum.
As a country, we are in worse shape in general now than before TDL; but, we survived TDL and rejected HRC, and I think many would not have thought that back in 2008. If Trump is somehow forced out of office, which I think is a slim chance at best, that would leave Pence, and Sessions, and the other cabinet members who seem to be willing to drain the swap and who are already starting to do things with regulations. The new interior secretary just remove the lead ban from federal lands, so you can now again hunt or shoot with the lead based bullets TDL had banned.
The Government is a behemoth, that will not be changed quickly; but, with the right people chipping away at it, bit by bit, I am at least a little optimistic for the first time in a while.

  2. Thomas The Tinker says:

WT…. just my take on things… I believe the author should have taken a 6 pack on a long walk in the trees..

This sounds like the BS I listen to on the network news… Jesse.. I thought better of you…

    • Jesse Mathewson says:

Thank you for your feedback. 🙂

    • GeorgiaPeachie says:

The author of this piece has issues. Too bad if you don’t like our President. We needed a wrecking ball in DC, and that is who we “hired”. Is he perfect? No, but neither are you. Big mouth? You bet! I like it! Bigot? Not at all!!!!!!!! Since when does a thinking person consider our nation’s sovereignty and secure borders anything but a RIGHT? Americans weren’t born to be SLAVES to the political elite…for them to import the world’s poor and stick us with the BILL!!

      • OhioPrepper says:

Americans weren’t born to be SLAVES to the political elite…for them to import the world’s poor and stick us with the BILL!!

B.B.B.B.But how else can they ease their arrogant, hateful, liberal conscience.

    • I agree with you TTT.
I’ll take my chances with Trump over the alternatives offered.

  3. I have done what I can, at this location, to the best of my ability and resources. There are a couple of areas that still can be worked on, but the majority of major changes involve a change to a new location.

We still continue to prep. We continue to learn new things. Upgrade and repair. Reduce debt. Reduce clutter and unnecessary inventory. Learn how to be profitable in unconventional ways.

I believe we have been given a repreave; not a pardon. I don’t intend to waste this time.

  4. To be honest I and many survivalists here in the UK drew a breath of relief when Trump got elected as the next president. We were delighted that the message from Putin confirmed a step back from what seemed like a fast approaching WW3.
I went back to prepping for more minor natural worries and put the WW3 stuff a bit further back in my mind than it had been.
However I’m back to looking at WW3 as a real threat that no puppet in any office has any real chance of diverting, I’ll tell you why.
We as survivalists and preppers will always be viewed and judged as crazy by many of the faithful who worship at the altar of ‘it’ll be all OK in the end’, thing is that I believe it wont.
I happened to be surfing youtube for survivalist posts and came across a person I had dismissed simply for being, what I considered, another pawn in the bought and paid for media. It seems that in John Pilger’s case I may have been wrong on my dismissal. Mr Pilger is a very highly credible documentary producer and news commentator and I spent 12 hours yesterday watching his videos which expose the relentless march of the elite-corporate program for their own end.
Sadly, because of Mr Pilger’s well presented interviews and counter logic, I feel we may be in for a bad ride in the future which will see an escalation toward a fabricated series of world conflicts culminating in the excuse for the all-out war that we saw adverted upon Trumps election.
I note Killary has not been chucked into jail and I wonder if Mr Trump has been told he may write what presidential orders he likes but he must remember he is president of a country with many book depositories and grassy knolls !

So, we are back to factoring in potential conflicts and the need to prep for them.
From me in the UK you be safe in the Americas

    • Anonamo Also says:

Bri,Yesterday your neighbor Germany warned of food and water contaminations by terrorist types. You have the same influx they have had. Securing these things…will be vital for those there as well. Stay alert and Keep on prepping!

      • Anonamo, Thanks for the heads up.
Interestingly I have news on loop most the day and I’ve heard absolutely nothing about that.
BBC and SKY on loop changing between the two each time a news cycle repeats.

        Thanks again,

        • Bri I hope you don’t mind me asking but how bad is it in the UK with all the syrian immigrants and muslims there? We hear different thing in the states but I would really like first hand accounting by someone who actually lives there. I have heard of it’s fine no problems to mass protests by muslims demanding things, rapes, die infidels and everything in between. Would you mind being our eyes and giving us the real stories. Thank you so much! Good luck and God Bless!!

          • Take a lool at jihadwatch.org anf see fot yourself
Germany, France and Sweeden are being destroyed more every day by the migrants. 80 percent are not even from syria! Women in Germany are told to wear bracelets that tell Syrians to not rape them and are giving out underwear that have alarms that go off if raped! Women can no longer leave their homes without a male! Take a look at jihadwatch.org, pamelageller.com and check out briebart.com, etc.

            • Jesse Mathewson says:

I highly recommend avoiding sites like those…while I will not disagree regarding religionists as a whole, yes that means anyone that actually believes their religion gives them something more than others. (Especially the newest religion, government)

Those sites are fearmongering and rarely fully or even partially accurate, much like cnn/msnbc/faux etc.,

This being said. Some of my best friends are Kurdish, Uzbekistani. Persian (not those pork avoiding Iranians but the old school Zoroastrist Persians) and Romany – than there are my Nepalese friends…:):)

Just saying, Im what most of yall would call pagan/ however. Faith, this is everyones prerogative, my daughter at 8 is today at church with one of her best friends, you see I follow my principles absolutely, each person is their own, and NO ONE ELSES.

This includes my children, I teach them to question, to think and to track/hunt/shoot survive…faith, politics etc., thats their choice, not mine.

Hope it makes sense, and again, I agree, I detest the weakness that pervades our european brothers and sisters, politically correct behavior has killed society –

Hence my blunt non correct approach

              • OhioPrepper says:

Just saying, Im what most of yall would call pagan

You mean things like Christmas Trees, Holly Wreaths, Mistletoe, Yule Logs, Wassail, Easter Eggs, yep, them danged pagans.

            • OhioPrepper says:

And when you add to that the fact that the Germans like most of the E.U. may not arm themselves for protection against the bad guys, it makes things even worse than it seems. If it comes to that here, I suspect many will be sent quickly home to their 72 virgins.

              • OP, I was told it was 72 Virginians 😉

                • OhioPrepper says:

I’m sure it was virgins and the best evidence I ever saw for that was a photo of a group of Catholic nuns ,all holding shotguns, with a caption that said, Your virgins are ready and waiting for you.
Perhaps the martyrs should read the fine print.

                  • ROFLMAO!! Ohhh reminds me of my 3rd grade teacher Sister Mary Theresa…..she could scare Jesus straight LOL deadly with a ruler 😉

    • OhioPrepper says:

I’ve been watching the new administration, primarily with their fight to get good cabinet members through a very partisan Senate confirmation; but, I think your WW III worries are a little unlikely.
At least one of your leadership, Daniel Hannon who is a current MEP, still seems hopeful. He essentially repeated a speech from 2011 as a print column recently in the Wall Street Journal again recently; but, is inaccessible to me due to a pay wall, for which I wish not to pay when other instances of the message are available free.
Here’s his take on us (the US), UK, and the EU.
He opens with the following, which I personally find hilarious:
On a U.S. talk-radio show recently, I was asked what I thought about the notion that Barack Obama had been born in Kenya. “Pah!” I replied. “Your president was plainly born in Brussels.”
He seems like a pretty good chap from my perspective, supported the Brexit, even though I suspect it means he will shortly be out of a job. Not too many politicians will do that.

I think that if WW III were to happen, it would not be the Russians, who still remember the MAD policy; but, more likely a smaller radical state like North Korea or Iran.

  5. Survivormann99 says:

Your statistics need some fact checking. While almost half of federal prisoners were doing time for “drug offenses.” that is because most violent felonies in this country are covered by state statutes. Over half of state inmates are there for violent offenses.

You minimize even the nature of the federal drug inmates’ offenses. They are not there of “smoking” substances. They are there for their involvement in serious drug trafficking, an “occupation” that is rife with serious violence and one that involves the ruination of countless lives. Exhibit “A”: Chicago, Illinois.

Time after time the druggies call for freedom in this area. Yet, when they move from one drug to another and wind up with fried minds that do not permit them to do anything but vegetate, the rest of us pick up the tab in terms of Social Security disability payments.

From my office in a high rise in downtown LA, I can look out in the distance on the dome tents of homeless druggies lining the sidewalk. Just since yesterday, I can see that another is added. Tomorrow?

Those Social Security payments to people with minds destroyed by drugs are an enfringement on my freedom, and, I expect, to the great majority of people who read this blog.

    • Jesse Mathewson says:

Thank you for the feedback 🙂

    • Jesse Mathewson says:

I wonder what would happen if you lost your job right now, and there was no support system for you? As for the statistics I use, as someone with multiple degrees and dozens of certifications in specifically drug related crime and juvenile criminal deviance I can with absolute honesty say that laws against drugs have done more harm than the drugs themselves. (A simple check of any number of sources -specifically fbi statistics and statistics from around the globe) will show I am in fact correct. Though I understand the desire for it not to be.

What statistics exactly would you like links too? What information is it that would prove to you what so many of us already know? Drugs are NOT the problem. Neither is homelessness, rather it is the system that has created dependency on itself that is the problem and will as all systems before it have, fail. This is history, this is fact.

Regardless, be specific and I will glady give you a list of verifiable information regarding this.

      • Jesse,
My brothers and sisters did drugs in the 60s and 70s and could easily have had a drug record and gone to jail. They don’t. Now, they all work and support themselves rather well. I wonder how many people in the same position were caught and spent time in prison, ruining their chance of overcoming youthful rebellion and indiscretions.

        • I am not saying that I was a Saint in my teens, but that is what real parenting is all about. Now days, we live in a godless Society and so drugs are everywhere. But I know what you mean. However, small drugs many times lead to BIG more powerful drugs… as you prob know. I knew a gal who told me that 12 teen age girls sitting in a circle doing drugs many years ago, all died from doing that crap.

    • How many people were imprisoned merely for possessing a small amount of pot and how many were convicted of that because the other charges wouldn’t stick in court? How many people today are imprisoned for just smoking pot or snorting coke or injecting heroin? Or are they convicted of that as a way of removing them from other criminal activities in which they have been involved?

I do agree with the OP, wherein the author warns of the still pending economic troubles, although I feel less intense the need to remain prepared….even though I did not vote for Trump and continue to worry how this will all play out. Not too bad so far, IMO. But there are monsters just over the horizon as always.

      • Anonamo Also says:

Ok , I’m throwing this out to consider…No attacks!.
….. and how many were trapped by “an agent” asking for a large amount from some user who saw it as a way to get a free supply…from the money made on a one time quick deal.
How many had “extra supplies” placed in their vehicle? Just as there are reputable agents out there there are people who try to take out the competition to their own business …whether they are in a like business or just get tired of taking the same small fry to jail on a revolving door.
Just askin’ questions… I have no knowledge and no agenda. We know tha 90% of people in jail or prison SAY they are not guilty. Do I believe the number of not guilty are that high? no , but do I believe there are SOME were trapped, in some manner? Yes

  6. By and large I agree with Jesse M on the tipping point. And Trump, however much I like some of his moves, shows no sign of how to reduce the debt. In fact with his trillion dollar rebuild infrastructure plans that could further ballon our debt bubble. At least Trump does plan to appoint a conservative Supreme Court replacement. That alone makes me feel better about 2nd amendment rights at least. I don’t think the surveillance state is lessening with his regime. Neither the right nor the left has proposed that.

My preps have slowed, but only because I am reaching the saturation point of space limits. Still making purchases on all beans, bullets and bandaids, but very carefully and only on good deals. Working on skill set improvements now. God bless all Pack members. Keep prepping on!

    • This is not the forum for a political or economic discussion, but, for the first time in many years, there’s a small chance we can, as a country, survive the coming calamity. Love him or hate him……Trump has a very specific schedule planned out. This is the first time in many decades that we have had a real business man in office. We may not have time for his plans to make the difference, but he is doing what must be done. He is trying to save the dollar, or at least prevent it’s destruction from destroying us. We don’t have to pay off all of the debt immediately, but if we can get a large enough increase in the gdp, it may give us some breathing room. That is why Trump is making so many calls to the leaders of industry. He is actually calling them. No one has done this before.
If we can regain our manufacturing base, we will be in a much better position no matter what happens. To do that we must bring manufacturing back on shore. We must produce! The dollar is being jettisoned as the reserve currency. This can’t be stopped. We must stop borrowing.
Our job, our responsibility in this is to make ourselves and our family good for our own needs. Provide for ourselves. So many can / will not. We may, or, may not avoid the destruction that is heading our way. We have a good, knowledgeable leader in place. I hope it is enough. I won’t bet the ranch on it though. Continue to prepare. We are on the razors edge.

    • Jesse Mathewson says:

Thank you for your polite feedback. It is much appreciated of course. 🙂

  7. oldhomesteader says:

I agree we have a reprieve , not a permanent fix. We (dw)are doubling down on our preps ,we feel that the ranch is a major target in a shtf , both from gov and looters , we are looking at our options, who is john galt ?is the book ATLAS SHRUGGED a hint of what is to come?

Now for a cup of tea and sit and think

  8. Where is your proof that the majority of people in prison are there for smoking/producing/selling weed? A quick internet search produced this:

    Violent Crime — 54%
    Property Crime — 19%
    Drug Crime — 16%
    Public Order — 11%

(source: “Prisoners in 2013”, published by the United States Department of Justice, pg. 15)

    • Pardon me, that was only for state incarcerations. For total state and federal incarcerations, the numbers are:

      Violent Crime — 47.8%
      Property Crime — 17.2%
      Drug Crime — 20.4%
      Public Order — 13.9%

      • Jesse Mathewson says:

Drug related crime account for over 50% 🙂 violence exists because it is illegal…just saying.

        • Drug crimes as the primary reason for incarceration did not account for over 50% of state/federal incarcerations and the DoJ report supports that contention.

People do not get put in prison for smoking weed. Few get put in prison for only selling weed. If drug related crimes account for over 50% of state/federal incarcerations, please state your source.

          • Mark,
People are put in prison for having one joint over the limit!

            • I plan on prepping since Trump was elected. There is no salvation in earthly man so I am not going to put my full trust in them.

              • Jesse Mathewson says:

                Axelsteve, well said

              • Florida Preppergal says:

I too will keep on doing my preps have been at it for a long time and no matter the outcome of our elected president I still believe in self reliance and doing things for myself and family and have always relied on my own self taught skills.
That said, I think there has been to much bashing of this election. So for you all out there just keep doing all you can to prep for whatever comes our way. May God Bless you all.

            • OhioPrepper says:

People are put in prison for having one joint over the limit!

Can you cite a source? While that may have been true in TX in the 1970’s, I’m not sure how true it is today unless you’re selling or suspected of doing so.
When I was in college in the early 1970’s, weed in Ann Arbor, MI was confiscated and you were fined; but, in TX you could do hard prison time. I think things are a bit different now.

          • OhioPrepper says:

While I haven’t checked, I have done enough work with DOJ statistics in the past to know that some potential important information isn’t collected. For instance, how much of the violent crime was drug related, as in gangs defending their distribution turf or fending off law enforcement raids, etc.

            • Jesse Mathewson says:

I wrote a long response with multiple links for legit stats, unfortunately nothing came through. The reality is simple, if drugs were decriminlized or legal well over half of all violent crime would become unnecessary and wouldnt exist, solid real world examples are Spain (no centralized gov atm and far less crime overall) legalized drugs/ over 46% reduction in crime and addiction rates

              Prohibition has never worked, ever.

              • Jesse Mathewson says:

Additionally, here in Arizona a single joint has a mandatory sentencing requirement. Which may or may not be used depending. Again, my background is CJ / drug related crime, juvenile criminal deviance.

          • Anonamo Also says:

In our area the dope dealers…do home invasions, car jackings and other violent crimes to obtain money to maintain their lifestyle fo crack, meth, and etc.
I am not, nor ever been, in that crowd and so far have been spared from violence. But am I vigilant for the ones who would become violent. I try to stay out fo the areas of nearby cities who have really big problems as reported daily of shootings and buirals and grieving of parents of the young who were shot because of gang activity or gang activity in the area… Mary Jane users are generally not in that number. They are too mellow(!) and hungry!

  9. Interesting and frightening view point.
I dont stop prepping, I actually stepped it up.
Because in some off the wall, inner conscious deep inside belief, I feel much the same way as JM here…
It saddens me to death, but deep down inside I can see where JM is correct in his assessments.

I dont want, it, god how I dont want it…I am terrified of it!!
But deep down inside there is a voice screaming at me that we have gone beyond a tipping point. And it would take drastic measures to move us back into safe territory again.
Therefore I prep like mad, prey for the best, but plan for the worst.
I have told my husband time and again that I am truly frightened for this nation.
That even though we got a reprieve with Trump, that it may just be too late and as JM said, we are on our still kicking, but that its like life support.

    Food for thought:
It is a known fact that NO EMPIRE in the history of the world has lived and/or survived past “”250″” years since its inception.
Look it up….EVERY empire has failed, or torn itself apart from the inside within this time limit.
    **We are at year 241…

    Just a thought.

    • Jesse Mathewson says:

Sadly that is the point, I have spent years reading and studying history, specifically our history. Its just reality. And its not what I want, however, I prefer it be me to my children.

Thanks for the feedback, apologies if I dont respond to everyone, I am not ignoring anyone I am honestly quite busy. – I understand that articles like this are lightning rods, however, if you take a step back as I must do also, sometimes what is really happening is very different from what we believe is occurring.

  10. Anonamo Also says:

Jesse, All your main points except one I agree with… the not voting one.. and many including Judge Anna have this view.
Within the system we have voting is our only way to individually scream we do not like the turn of events our country is taking. I think that is what we had this year. It was a “surprise” to those in media that were reading prepared statements of the thugs..
Unemployment is actually so extremely high, if people can “squeak by” on an income that is as secure as any…for now…then they do not expend energy registering for a job market that is over run. This does not mean they don’t find things to do to help with income or needs of their family. Many of these people are like others on thsi blog who have business’, grow some or most of their groceries, put up food ahead of the actual need.
I believe that government propaganda should be outlawed instead of encouraged. I also believe that ALL drugs should be legalized after adults are over the age of 21. and ILLegal for anyone under unless prescribed by a physicaian of any stripe, for a medical condition. Cannabis oil has proven very effective for cancer and epilepsy.
When the vacinations are reduced and alumuminum and mercury are removed from them with the various lyme bacteria and other gunk that is in them…then our autism rate will plummet. Anything that reduces our body’s immune responses like mercury and aluminum injected into the bloodstream have no place in the medication supply…
No, I have not stopped doing what I do, my money is limited , but do things weekly. Learning and planning are a good part of doing this.

  11. Ronald Beal says:

The ‘editorial’ has some good points and are certainly written with passion! However, it is typical for most statements, it points out the problems accurately without a solution. Are we to do away with government ” because those we elect are not pure or simply do not meet out parameters for ethics or morality? If either Christ or Allah were President of this country, the country would explode in violence. Let’s do away with government totally, then the strong would dominate and total chaos would follow for decades.
I am not a religious person at all; In fact I despise religion. However, if we are truly Believers in Christ, and he has taken care of us most of our life and we know regardless of the state of the world and America, he will continue to do so, then the fear of all that is in the world is of little concern. I know you will not understand this and may even ridicule the idea, the truth remains. Believe means: “to give ones self totally into the care of another.” If you have done this, I know for a truth, nothing can harm you or destroy you, unless it is his desire. If that is in fact his desire, then let it be done. Proof of the Biblical “garden” is the fact that people determine what is good and what is evil. When one is “settled”in HIm, neither has an effect on our feelings or our actions. Common sense and God, tells us to prepare for hard times. But ultimately, regardless of our “stash” and our extensive planning, we must understand, a greater force can determine the final outcome of our existence. Knowing that, life is much less stressful or even without stress.

    • Jesse Mathewson says:

I am definitely not stressed. Just pointing out things people tend to avoid addressing – personally I and many many others like myself would prefer a much decentralized approach. Like the Swiss 🙂

    • Jesse Mathewson says:

And btw, I actually agree regarding spirtuality and religion.

  12. Undoubtedly we are all in for tough sledding, but I disagree that the future course is set. I believe Trump will reduce the budget deficit. The dude is smart enough to realize the only way out of our debt crises is to monetize it. That is one of the reasons he wants to repatriate corporate funds currently being kept offshore. I wish I could believe congress would actually reduce spending on various programs which have no basis in the constitution. Alas, I credit them with no courage, little honesty and not much trustworthiness. However, they may be forced to freeze much of that spending and let increased economic activity provide for increased federal revenue to cover their cost. The fly in the economic ointment is the probable dramatic and substantial increase in interest rates. Hopefully, interest rate increases will lag economic improvement sufficiently to mitigate their drag on the economy. I also take exception to your assertion that most prison inmates are there for simple drug possession or use. That simply is not true, as most are convicted of lesser charges in plea bargains. My stepdaughter was a prosecuting attorney in Maricopa County, AZ (Phoenix) and has given me chapter and verse on that topic.

I do agree though that it has been vividly shown we cannot stop the drug trade and the attempts to do so have come with huge financial and human costs. It is undeniably stupid to use drugs, but we cannot protect people from their stupidity. It is clear also that education is not the answer, otherwise how to explain why so many in the inner cities pick up the crack or the meth pipe when they have seen what it does to users.

Anyway, keep on prepping! That’s the best we can do.

  13. TPSnodgrass says:

I have no issues with people who choose to not participate in the voting process in our Republic. I do have issues with those who choose (willingly) to castigate those who hold different view points based upon THIER personal experiences.
While Jesse’s article is well written, I disagree that our Republic is “done for”, “doomed”, or any other kind adjective we can throw into the mix. While I did not vote for Trump in the primaries, I did so in the General Election, because the other choices were far more abysmal than he is/was.
Trump is no savior of the Republic, and I do completely agree, we have a very small window of opportunity in the form of a very minuscule reprieve in which to get better prepared for the societal, financial and personal chaos that is being planned by the enemies of our Republic like George Soros and his Disciples of a Doom.
I have no intention of ever giving up on this Republic, I have bled for it in active military service, so I choose to be all in for the Constitution and what it represents.

  14. Floods, pandemics, hurricanes, earthquakes, failure of the EU, our federal debt; there are plenty reasons to keep prepping. And, who knows how long or successful Trump’s administration will be…

    • Your thoughts and word have much merit! At this juncture in world history most of the nations in the world are linked and joined at the hip, economically. So, if Japan goes down, we all go down in a matter of speaking. The merits and sound judgments for Prepping are justified, smart, and even Biblical ! Or… do you all feel “lucky,” today … duh ? Personally, I don’t like to gamble with my money nor my life, too much. I believe in having as many ‘safety nets’ and golden parachutes as humanly possible, and I try to do my research first before spending my hard earned money. I will be surprised if the American Dollar is still standing in the 4th quarter of 2017, even though Pres. Trump, whom I voted for and like, might be a genius and financial wizard. But God bless him anyway. –Tommy Schuckman

  15. We continue to prep and learn according to our budget. Basically prepare for the worst and hope for the best. BUT if God already has my name down to not make it through the worst of it then all the prepping in the world will not matter for me and I’m ok with that. God knew of my birth way before my parents and he knows my death, prepped or not, I go when he calls. We do know HE wants us to do for our selves so that HE can help us so we keep going and do our best. That’s all any of us can do is do our best and know God has his own plan.

  16. Quietly_Will says:

While I don’t agree with all the statements the original ideas in the essay are good things to consider. I believe had folks not voted we would have HRC in office and would shortly be manning barricades in our towns to fend off U.N. troops under command of the NWO. I think we have a short reprieve to get our acts together. I think we have pols in DC who have never done an honest days work and foolishly think they will be the elites running the world of George Soros. I was a draftee and I am not afraid to go down fighting for my country, family and way of life. I prep because I refuse to invite the government to starve me because I won’t bow and scrape to the NWO.

  17. Chuck Findlay says:

From a prepping point of view
meet the old boss, same as the new boss.

Meaning nothing is going to get the masses to prep and whomever is in the office we should prep like our life depended on it, because it does.

Trump will likely do some good, he will likely defuse the thing with Russia, but there are 100 other reasons to prep that he won’t change much. Heck I could see the big players crashing the system and using him as the supposed reason for it.

    • TPTB have been setting this up for a long time way before Trump got into office. Trump didn’t cause this mess remember people he wasn’t even a politician. If you want to blame people then put it where it belongs those who were and in office now. All Trump is trying to do is fix as much of it as he can before it all comes down around our ears. He’s no fool he can see what has been going on but there is only so much you can do to slow a broken damn down before it floods you out. Like placing sand bags around your house before the flood, you pray it works but are ready to leave at a moments notice because that’s reality. He’s been in office for what a week and he catches hell because he hasn’t done everything he said he was going to do yet…..OH please get over it. He has 4 years (hopefully) to undo what has been going on for decades PLUS he’s pretty much doing it without his staff as he’s waiting on them to get confirmed (Thank you Schumer from NY another sleaze bucket! And I can say that because I’m from NY!!). I plan on supporting the President I voted for warts and all because as far as I know I am not perfect either and neither are any of you. If you are concerned with something then WRITE him or any of the others in office. The USA is our community and we need to do what we can to be a great country again, it’s not just in Trumps hands but all of ours. God bless us, everyone.

      • Jesse Mathewson says:

Absolutely correct, hence tipping point and all that.

      • Chuck Findlay says:

Schumer from NY another sleaze bucket.

So is his niece, she’s a foul dirty mouthed liberal.

I guess sleaze buckets run in the family…

  18. I think Trump has done great things in his first three days in office. He has diverted money to build the wall (that was approved by Congress in 2006). He has defunded sanctuary cities. He has galvanized his position on gun rights. I do favor a reciprocity requirement that makes every state accept the carry permit of other states, just like a driver’s license. He has dismantled Obamacare. He has cut funding for foreign aid organizations that promote abortion. He has directed State to move the U.S. embassy in Israel to Jerusalem. He has stopped millions of dollars of U.S. tax payer money from going to the Palestinians. (In his last days in office Obama gave a $221 million gift to the Palestinians.) He has frozen hiring of federal employees (except the military) in order to cut the size of the federal government. He has also pressured U.S. corporations from moving jobs to Mexico.

I would say this is looking out for the ordinary Americans. The author of this post has been drinking too much Kool-Aid–Smurfberry Blue, I suspect.

  19. So much good info and opinions in this thread. Its nice to see polite discussions with differing views stay respectful.

Keeping Jesse’s post in mind, and with our new Prez, I’m curious what area(s) are you concentrating on as you continue to prep?

Any particular task/purchase you are focusing on?

Have you changed direction any? What is your new direction?

I am still filling out low spots in food preps, but am moving towards really ridding myself of extrainious “stuff” that won’t be useful or barter items in any situation. Of course, the money earned will help with more preps.

Thanks for all the good info, as always.

    • Jesse Mathewson says:

Definitely filling out preps, specifically food and some spare parts – and thank you for being respectful.

  20. Hi Jen-Mar, You sound like a very smart, kind, lady. I am looking for such people as friends. I do a lot of study and research into Investments, and used to be ‘Security Licensed’ back in the ’90’s, but now I learn toward, “Metals,” as being the safe bet and smart, too, because the experts figure that, even with a super wise, smart POTUS as Pres. Trump is; It would be a huge miracle if our American Dollar doesn’t collapse in the 4th quarter of 2017 !! Sorry to burst anyone’s bubble, but even Pres, Trump has warned against this very thing ! He said: “Beware of the Bubble !” So, I think that investing in as much Silver, etc., is a real smart idea, and also know of a very great, honest company that deals with these kind of Metals Investments. My email: [email protected] — but people always say: ‘You cannot eat gold, silver, platinum or copper !!’ So, you also, simultaneously buy/ store up good food, canned goods, candles, ammo., etc. to be a good Prepper. That is my personal opinion. –Have a great day. –Disabled Vietnam Vet: 68-70.

  21. Trump has done more for this country in less than a week than Obama did in 8 years.
He needs to refund sanctuary cities and use the money to build a wall !!!
He is a business genius, generate more revenue and pay down the debt, then taxes will go down because more people will be working and paying taxes instead of being on welfare.
    Now that’s a prepper.

  22. patientmomma says:

Thank you! I love reading this article and all the comments! I have 5 Revolutionary Soldiers in my family and many more who fought in the Civil War and others who defended this country in multiple wars. I have been around the world, lived in 12 foreign countries, traveled for business or vacationed in 15 more foreign countries; spoken and forgotten at least 6 languages, and I always cry when the ship docks or the plane lands in the USA. We all know there are great problems in this country; I don’t know how or if they can be solved. BUT, this country is a whole lot better than any place I have ever been. I’m not ready to give up on the USA. We are still a free people. I will continue to learn to be more self-reliant, prep for my family and a couple of neighbors, be as invisible as possible, and help a few people if I can.

    • Thank you patientmomma! Couldn’t have said it better myself. Keep on preparing!

    • Jesse Mathewson says:

Thank you for your ever thoughtful politeness and amazingly well worded approach 🙂 my wife constantly has to pull me back as I tend to be a rather blunt cruise missile versus a much better sniper- 🙂

      Thank you patientmomma

    • I have a co-worker who always says, you can tell the worth of a country by the number of people trying to get in, not get out. You are right…we do have serious problems, but you don’t see our citizenry fleeing on boats. Best to stay and take steps to make it better.

      • Jesse Mathewson says:

Daily, through local community interaction and working with people around me. Instead of treating neighbors like potential enemies, I look at them as assets in life. We have to make the future we want, and honestly, I want my children to be free…so 🙂

  23. Spoken like a typically naive anarchist: if you ever lived in a place like you describe you would see depths of human depravity we can not comprehend. The only thing worse than bad government is no government (as in parts of Africa). Your weed comments are nonsense, but I see the carnage of “non-violent” drug dealers as an EMT when we Narcan their customers back from death’s door (except for the ones we don’t reach in time). I would not imprison multiple offenders for dealing hard drugs either: I would execute them. Thank God we finally have a chance to pull back from the abyss – thanks to those who voted.

    • Jesse Mathewson says:

I believe in maintaining a politeness, I do not call myself an anarchist, or any of that nonsense as it would mean I care enough not to care about government. Rather, having lived in multiple 3rd world nations and been shot, stabbed and more as well as done my bit as a contractor (back issues they would not take me in the mil) grade IV spondolysthesis and all- I can honestly say, I much prefer a tribalistic approach or a less centralized government at best, like the Swiss.

I do appreciate the feedback however.

  24. I think our answer is right here. We need to be the 10 righteous. Only one who can fix it all. Just sayin…

Will you indeed sweep away the righteous with the wicked? 24 Suppose there are fifty righteous within the city. Will you then sweep away the place and not spare it for the fifty righteous who are in it? 25 Far be it from you to do such a thing, to put the righteous to death with the wicked, lso that the righteous fare as the wicked! Far be that from you! mShall not the Judge of all the earth do what is just?” 26 And the Lord said, n“If I find at Sodom fifty righteous in the city, I will spare the whole place for their sake.”
27 Abraham answered and said, o“Behold, I have undertaken to speak to the Lord, I who am but dust and ashes. 28 Suppose five of the fifty righteous are lacking. Will you destroy the whole city for lack of five?” And he said, “I will not destroy it if I find forty-five there.” 29 Again he spoke to him and said, “Suppose forty are found there.” He answered, “For the sake of forty I will not do it.” 30 Then he said, “Oh let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak. Suppose thirty are found there.” He answered, “I will not do it, if I find thirty there.” 31 He said, “Behold, I have undertaken to speak to the Lord. Suppose twenty are found there.” He answered, “For the sake of twenty I will not destroy it.” 32 Then he said, p“Oh let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak again but this once. Suppose ten are found there.” He answered, “For the sake of ten I will not destroy it.” 33 And the Lord went his way, when he had finished speaking to Abraham, and Abraham returned to his place.

  25. OhioPrepper says:

First of all, orientated is not a word; nor, is preventative.
Sorry; but, like the scorpion and the frog, it is my nature and these are two of my 5 or 6 really peevish words and should be oriented and preventive LOL.
Of course only oriented applies here.
As for your topic, I pretty much agree with you. My late brother who had degrees in Economics, History, and Political science told me long ago, that from a historical and economics perspective, barring a miracle,
we as a country are already circling fast on our way down the drain.
While I’m not personally quite ready to water Jefferson’s tree, and willing to give the new administration a chance, I don’t ever see myself stopping the prepping I’ve been doing for so long.
Even if Trump and his people and ideas can pull us back from the brink, there will always be accidental manmade and natural events that will severely impact humans and our way of life, so at the very least we should be able to survive those events that can be as simple as a drunk hitting a power pole, or a blizzard, hurricane, tornado, or earthquake.
I’ve heard people say about sleep, that you can sleep when you’re dead. I feel the same way about stopping my prepping, so keep on going folks; because like most things, it only gets easier (the prepping) the more you do it.

    • Jesse Mathewson says:

Thank you, I read a book a day on average and still have terrible grammar – so I do appreciate that. (And mean it 🙂

Agreed, history, economically, etc., it is what it is. Honestly, I think they want Trump in charge when it fails because it will make the left seem that much better to the short term thinking losers supporting them. 🙁

      • OhioPrepper says:

think they want Trump in charge when it fails

I agree; but, the they in this case are the progressive Keynesian anti-capitalists who can’t admit that socialism has failed everywhere it’s been trued, often because they are the smart ones who finally have it figured out.

        • Jesse Mathewson says:

Again agreed, honestly, I wish I could be mr positivity…however, I am a realist. And havent to date seen a reason to be, outside of trying as I do daily to get local community together and function with each other versus against each other.

  26. Jesse Mathewson says:

  27. Good article Jesse.
Are we ( me & mine) lightening up on our work?
No. Sure, it’s nice to step back and take a breath after this election. It’s also a good time to grab a clipboard, stoke the fire and pour a mixed drink while we spitball new ideas we want to do, go over what we’ve done, and take advantage of the time we have.
With falling ammo prices, I can rotate stock while getting in some good range-time in for a few family members & friends, my DW and myself.
Good time for a few firearms projects too, like finish up my FN-FAL and others.
This is also a good time for us to get our small garden framed up and prepped for the coming growing season.
( our first garden after moving )
A huge booster for us is our attitudes to keep forward.
Nothing gets me laughing like gigging & joking with each other in sarcastic humor with my DW !
( some would think we’re mean to each other, but that being far from the truth! )
She’s always checking out the archives here on one thing or another, which is a big part of our “clipboard planning” time.
She also gets tips and ideas to go with from others commenting on their work.
We’re hitting or mid-40’s together and She’s my #-1 Too bad she got the short-end of the stick when she said ” I Do “. LOL!!!!!

Lol, mine is amazing as well, she supports, reigns in and generally keeps me from running off everyone. 🙂 we are lucky men, 🙂
