  1. JP in MT says:

    Well, Congratulations!

    And here I couldn’t help because I don’t have a Facebook account.

  2. Congrat’s MD. That’s a big accomplishment! Bet ur advertisers will be glad to see that.

  3. rjarena says:

I tried Facebook once a couple of years ago, don’t like it so I stopped using it, no appeal to me. but I wish you the best on this accomplishment, what ever works to get out the message.

  4. I don’t have a Facebook account but I did have two dozen friends, family, and coworkers like your site… and they really do like it.

  5. Jersey Drifter says:

    Sorry M.D.
Had a Facebook account a few years back. Didn’t like it and worried all the time about OPSEC. So I don’t use it. But I know a lot of folks do, so it is a good way to get the word out.
Congrats on the 10,000 fans, and keep up the good work.

    • Jersey Drifter,

They (the federal government) watch everything and everyone – when it comes to the government there really isn’t any such thing as OPSEC… They can probably, tell you the last time that you pooped and what you had for breakfast… it’s a sad state we are in, but it will get worse…

      • Jersey Drifter says:

True, I guess we are all being watched and listened to one way or the other.
        Maybe I shouldn’t be so paranoid ?

        • Jersey Drifter,

No you should be… assume that every phone call (both mobile and land-line), every text, every email, every time you use a credit or debit card, every bank transaction, everything that you own, what you watch on TV, movies you view etc are all being monitored (for your protection from the “terrorists” of course) because they are.

  6. mom of three says:

I became a fan when you started it. Congrats, I understand not wanting facebook, I have gotten off three times the longest was two years.

  7. Chuck Findlay says:

There seems to be a non-Facebook trend here.

Answer me this, MD would you be on Facebook if you were not already way out in the open? I suspect not. If you were just a poster I imagine you may look at Facebook differently just as many here do. Nothing against it if that is one wants to do, but it does come with a whole heap of concerns as far as info given away.

Facebook makes data-mining a super simple thing to do. And while the powers that be can find anything, I feel it’s still in my best interest to not make any more of my private info available for easy viewing.

    • Chuck Findlay,

I never told you to go sign up on Facebook – I said “if you use Facebook” then you can become a fan of the page, if you don’t use Facebook then I don’t suggest that you start. However when looking at illegal spying by the federal government Facebook is just one tool in their toolbox of thousands – it would seem that a lot of folks think that if they don’t use Facebook then they aren’t being spied upon.

I wounder how many people that fall apart at the mention of Facebook, go surf the web without taking any precautions at all like using a CDN or even TOR to protect their identity and surfing habits? How many carry a government tracking and listening device (cell phone) everywhere they go…

  8. BREARBEAR says:

    I guess from day one…
I have always been Leary of facebook and twitter …
Don’t understand or know anything about them/it.
    (which could/prob…is my loss)…

another of my weaknesses is all this tech stuff…

Am pretty sure emails phone calls texts surfing/browsing are all monitored/opsec…so it’s not a matter of that.

crap…it took me years to catch onto doing emails/faxing/texting etc.

I just never got into it.

The recent “invisibility” post proved to me that I’m screwed for opsec anyway.

I’m one of the good guys and in that recent “invisibility” post i figure when things go to crap i will just throw my electronics in the lake and be done with it.

as long as i have no chip in me forhead or hand…
hopefully the darkness will not get me?
besides attempting me guerilla cache camping plan…

would appreciate someone explaing to me its pros/cons on a prepper techy level…
its probly tho just a dif tool like texting and maybe im missing out on NOT veiwing another part o’ reality…???

    maybe someone can explain?

dont hVe a clue what this “liking” and “friend”crapola is…etc.

  9. Encourager says:

I will confess that sometimes I delete the FB posts because I don’t want my so called FB ‘friends’ to know I am prepping… I then go to your site and read the articles.
