I’m looking for product reviewers to write reviews of survival / prep related products that they own and have used. Review should be 500 or more words in length and as detailed as possible. We want to know how it works, how well it works and how you would make it better, if possible.

I just bought a Ruger SR22 this weekend. If the weather holds I will do a comparison between it and the Walther P22 soon.

JP in MT,
That would be great…

I bought the Ruger Mini 14 ranch rifle about 4 months ago, I could do a review on that if you’d like. When do you need these reviews by?

Mike,
I’ve had the older version of the ranch rifle but not the new version, that is said to have better sights, and barrel.
As for reviews – I need them, when you get time to do it. That’s up to you. Looking forward to it.

Sure. I’ve heard the older ones had accuracy issues. I wouldn’t call the new one a tac driver but I’ve done 2 inch groupings at 100 yards. With a scope though. The new sights aren’t bad either but there’s a few issues with them. So yea. I’ll just write up a review instead of babbling on here. I’ll send it in sometime this week with pics.

Hey Mike and MD, It is a very cheap and easy fix to fix the accuracy issue due to the thinner barrels on the Mini 14. If you wish I can due a small writ up on it and the comparesons. As I am getting 1/2″ 3 shot groups with this fix at 100 Yards with Winchester (Made in Isreal) 55 FMJ Bullets and of course American Eagle.

I wish someone would do an article/review on the Goal Zero Escape 150 with solar panel. Is this product worth the money? Is there a similar product that sells for less?

Here’s the product link:

BamBam;
I purchased the lantern through EE before I started reading this site full time. We had an opportunity to use the Goal Zero lantern back in Jan-Feb when lightening struck a power pole and we were down for about 10 hours. I was in the middle of cooking dinner, I used this lantern so I could finish the meal. I could not believe it they were offered in Costco about 1 month later and I knew more about their products then the person they sent. Reminded me a of cardboard decoration. Now for the item you have linked, I could not give you a thumbs up or down.

I bought the sport solar oven a couple weeks ago, and have yet to open it. (Course it doesn’t help that it’s rained the last week SOLID, lol..
I also bought the presser washer from Lehmen’s.. it hasn’t shipped yet though. And the hot water rocket.
Would reviews on these products interest you, MD?

Schametti,
Yes. Those would be great review items – reviews are one area where we are lacking content. And a good review of a great / or not so great product can be very useful to readers.

Awesome! When they get here, and when the SUN COMES BACK OUT, lol…. I will work on figuring them out, and trying them out, and write up a little review for you, if things go well.

Information on the Smith and Wesson Sigma series pistol. When the Sigma entered the scene Glock arms filed lawsuit on Smith and Wesson for copying their firearms. A few changes later and the pistol was up and running. It takes down very similar to a Glock, most of the insides also resemble a Glock. It is a striker fired pistol made of a polymer frame with steel inserts in the plastic which the slide runs on, the slide is made up of steel coming in either black or a stainless finish. One difference is the grip angle is a little different than Glock, and the light rail is one of their own designs. It is very difficult to find a light that will fit it. I believe Insight model 3 or perhaps 4 is made just for that pistol, but I am sure there is a more accurate source on the website of Insight. The trigger pull was one of a combat weapon, which in a survival mode no one needs a hair trigger. It was not horrible, just not a target trigger. It seemed the sights were easy to pick-up and get off a quick second shot, all important when you may need to fire a pistol in self defense. It came with two 15 round magazines, steel sides with a plastic base plate. There appeared to be no damage when practicing tactical drills or doing speed loads when dropping the magazine to the ground intentionally, very durable. Upon shooting the Sigma I had zero failure to feeds or failure to fire. I like to use as many different odd ball shells as possible. These days that seems a little harder to do, but this test was four or five years ago. I do still own the pistol today with no problems in the unit whatsoever. It compares in size and weight to a Glock 19. It does have a three white dot sight configuration which seems to be appropriate for the sight radius. I believe e MSRP would be around $375-400. At gunshows the used gun price should hover around $350 , due to the demand for pistols right now. I do not believe the Sigma is still being offered new from Smith and Wesson. They have changed the accessory rail to a picatiny type and some other small cosmetics and renamed it a SD9 VE or SD40 VE. I seems to still be relatively bargain priced with two magazines. I believe the SD stands for Self Defense. The trigger on the SD seems about the same as the Sigma as does the takedown procedure. I hope this information is helpful to some of the wolf pack readers. As always shoot straight and be safe….

MD,
You listed S&W M&P 15.
I recently purchased an M&P .22 which is probably not all that good for hunting (except small game) or protection.
Interested?
