Well folks I’m happy to announce that The Survivalist Blog.net is approaching the 13,000 subscriber mark. While I’m not going to brag by claiming, that we have more far more subscribers than any other survival type blog, it would be safe to say that we are in the top five.

Thanks for all you do MD. This blog has helped 13,000 people on their journey to preparedness. Your efforts are appreciated more than you know. You have probably viewed a kazilion posts and read a bizillion emails. You have tolerated more than your fare share of snarks, trolls, and rabid admirers.
If and when S really does HTF you can rest easy knowing that you did everything you could to help all those people. Even the trolls. Your name alone would gain you a place and entrance to any retreat (well almost any, you know humpfff) if you needed sanctuary. You would always have a place with us.

Meh. That would work MD to death. I think it’s more newbies getting worried and attempting to glean info from those that have knowledge. Folks have a natural proclivity to find a group that you can identify with. I always presume that many folks are reading me when I espouse a mindset on the net. I am not surprised about the #’s.

Yep….I messed up by not posting as a reply to your post. Just meant that I’m not surprised at the #’s and probably good that MD doesn’t have to moderate 13K posts per day that does not contribute to the “greater good” similar to my last three posts. LOL
I can speak for one newbie…gleaning is what I’ve certainly been doing! Thank you for those ‘older and wiser’ folks that post and thanks M.D. for doing all you do!

I was just thinking more are posting. In October, a number of regulars quit posting because of politics, I think. I miss them and some are just too busy right now. But we have some really great minds posting now too. And there are more all the time.

After the re-election of Obama some of his supporters that had read the blog left, with one readers farewell message stating that “he (Obama) is doing the best that he can” and a few that disagreed with my prediction that during his next term that he would be coming for the guns. Now we see how that turned out…

I remember telling someone in 2007 that he was a dreamer or a liar and if elected none of his promises would be kept. I think a lot of people just can’t imagine that such deception could bring down this country and if Mr. Hagel is confirmed as Secy of Defense, we will be a lot closer to sleeping with the enemy. We just keep prepping.

MD, I was about to tell you how good you are at predicting the future, but then I thought about Obummer and realized it wasn’t that difficult to know the guy was just waiting for the right opportunity to get our guns. The right opportunity coincidentially occurred right after his re-election. Very strange coincident, it’s as if it was planned that way.

Thank you wolf pack for sharing your knowledge so freely. I was just a lost curious sheeple when I stumbled upon this eye opening wealth of knowledge. lucky for me I was prepping and didn’t even know it. Now I’ve got a good sense of direction for where I want to be when the shtf. I just wish I could contribute more, I never was very good at getting my point across on paper.

You being here is what is important. I think you will find the more you prep, the more you learn, the more confident you will become. I am sure in your journey you will have something to share, even if it is encouragment and prayers to others. I can only speak for myself but I am sure the others would agree that knowing that you and your family will survive with the knowledge you gained here is the biggest contribution.
You may help others on your path. That is all that is needed.
I am one of those new subscribers, however, I have been reading for sometime now. I have to say that for the most part what is posted here is “good” stuff wether it be advise, suggestions, thoughts or just good natured conversation. So, my thanks to MD and the pack. Others have said that it is good to be here with like minded people and I have to agree because often with my line of thinking I sometimes feel like the turd in the punch bowl. Being here to read and think and learn and plan helps my blood pressure drop. Ok enough of that..I actually did not think I would even make a post but I will share this for now. The 10 yr old and I are planning our annual winter 2 night camp out. Last year it got down to 25 degrees. We will have a tent and sleeping bags, canteen and water filter, mre. He will make fire without matches…basically this is a teaching-learning and overall a enjoyable experience for us both, but, gotta tell ya..getting to old to sleep on the cold hard ground. I will let you know how it turns out!

Have fun camping. I have two Girl Scout troops and I DONT sleep on the hard ground anymore. Not if I want to walk the next day. However, you will freeze to death on an air mattress in the winter. I have a down mattress topper I fold three ways and it is WONDERFUL! I roll it up in my bedroll. But, I need a pack mule to carry it very far.
G3S, Two words. Hand warmers. Buy them at Wal-mart. Put them in your underwear, your pockets, your sox, etc. You get the idea. They make all the difference for this Mom who camped and hiked with Scouts for all those years!
Hahaha…I’ve been known to throw a Baby Ruth or two into punchbowls and swimming pools in my younger days. Good one, Gimme 3 Steps.

Here is a little encouragement for the folks new to prepping. I recently calculated the food and medicine preps I have collected over the last four years. One of those years my husband spent many months out of work so we were working with only my salary. Just by avoiding expensive toys, shopping smarter without increasing my food budget, and in spite of rising prices, and in spite of adopting a homeless dog and 2 homeless cats, I have collected food and medicine preps with a replacement value at today’s prices of approximately $4,600. I only spent about $2,500. That doesn’t even count the chickens or my security preps. Where else can you get that kind of return?
Start now. Buy a little each month. Check out MD’s article about starting with a shopping trip for the basics at the local Wal-Mart in “popular posts”.
Buy the items you regularly use, when they are on sale and rotate them so nothing spoils. Stop splurging on dinners out on a regular basis and cook real food, it is healthier and cheaper. You will also find that you will have less illness when you eat real food. Oh, and buy a gun and ammo while you still can.

This is the first blog I try to read daily and the source of a lot of new or confirmed info for me. I think most folks who post know more than I, except on growing heirloom tomatoes, but will try to start contributing more to the general comments. Patti, I keep telling everyone I want to talk to, that purchasing a little here and there, does not hurt the budget and is an inflation fighter. Whether people are “true preppers” or not, they seem to grasp that being a few meals ahead is not a bad thing.
Can’t recall when I joined, as I have always felt at home with like minded people…
Found that what M D says, regarding politics, prepping, most anything, is true. Nothing fancy no twisting and turning to accept his opinion…just black and white truth. Put it out..take it or leave it. I respect this…respect MD’s knowledge and judgement. Greatly appreciate the Pack, we are like minded and draw comments from personal experience or knowledge, which is invaluable. Read more to continually learn, appreciate the comments and laughter. Whether you joined this road to prepare for political shif, natural disaster preparedness, or to save $$$ by stocking items needed in our lives, as a hedge against inflation…we all can bank on one thing…America will never be as it was few short years ago.

Sometimes there are remarks made by a cubbie that I find a little too radical for the times. I think MD does a great job keeping things in perspective.

I always watch my six… Hopefully I can at least take a few of them out before they can finish me off. A lot of folks don’t realize it but running a popular blog or website that goes against the ”norm” can be dangerous.
I’m seldom farther than arms length from a gun… and I have a lot of alarms and warning devices in place.

Might want to organize some ringed security in depth with the other locals, mountain watch, like neighbourhood watch only with rifles and binoculars. Both of our countries are following set proven patterns of rule that led to millions of people dead, Gooberments never learn, and who is pulling their strings anyways! Puppets in power.

I’m just cautious, after Keith Ratliff from FPSRussia was found murdered, I’m even more so. It’s been a few weeks since I’ve been directly threaten for my views.
The funnest was one guy that said he was going to come to my house and beat me up then rape me…
It’s only against the norm if you’re a sheep.
Wonder what a “cache of weapons” were in the opinion of the reporters…….could have been nothing more than a bb gun and some kids toy bow and arrow set?

He did a video not to long ago where they had a uav had 4 motors flew like a helicopter and had a small machine gun on it. freakin awesome. mini guns 50 cals I mean like every gun there is.

Some thing is off with this story. I’ve watched FPS Russia for a bit over a year now. His producer was the one shot in his office. He had guns nearby. Seems someone he knew and trusted was able to get in the office. With the weapons he had its not like the door is unlocked. Time will tell where the story goes but I doubt with 13000 subscribers MD has anything to worry about, at least no more then the rest of us.
The guy that should be worried is Alex Jones. He seems like he’s pissed off a few peeps in the world.

Thank you for all your hard work on this. I have learned a lot and look forward to the postings everyday. I didn’t agree with some of your politics, but to stop reading or posting because of that in my opinion is very short sighted. I hope those people that have left come back as they not only can still learn, but usually have a lot to offer regarding prepping. The whole purpose of prepping is to be prepared if it hits the fan. Why it hits the fan is irrelevant, you still have to prep for it. People should stay focused on that, even if they don’t agree politically. Just my .02.

Your work here is very much appreciated. One good side effect of blogs like yours is that lots of folks start out just looking to learn about prepping and soon start to see how today’s idiot politics can and will have a huge effect on our quality of life not to mention our freedoms.

The NRA and the NSSF are meeting with the VP and his cronies tomorrow. Let them know how you think. Put pressure on your representatives to back HR 35 which was introduced by Rep Stockman of TX. The bill would repeal the “Gun Free ‘Kill’ Zone” laws.
