Remington 870 Combo – The perfect Survival Shotgun
by M.D. Creekmore on April 11, 2009

As you all know I think the
Remington 870 express is the best thing to come down the line since magnum sized condoms. If I could only have one firearm it would be the 12 gauge pump action shotgun. Most folks would say the .22 LR because of cheap ammo prices and low report, and I will admit the little .22 is a good choice in many ways, but once you begin to put the subject into proper perspective the 12 gauge shotgun is more versatile for hunting and self-defense, becoming even more so when fitted with the right accessories.
Several years back I was seeing girl who had been recently divorced and her ex-husband had trouble letting things go. After finding out that she had moved on with her life and started seeing me, he was not very happy to say the least. So one night he calls me up on the phone and says he and his buddies are coming up to my house and that they are going to take me out of this world by hanging me to a tree.
Now most folks would have called the police asap, but not me. No I wanted him and his band of retards to try and make good on their threat. I turned out the lights inside the house leaving only the porch light burning, propped the front door open and set back on the couch facing the entrance with my Remington 870 across my lap , praying they would show up. They never did show, bunch of cowards.
Many hunters buy 20-22” cylinder bore barrels with rifle sights for deer season, then sell it after the season is over for half the original price. I found mine at a local pawn shop for $40; recently I have come upon several for the Mossberg 500 for under $30 but unfortunately these did not include the rifle type sights, which would make the setup less versatile for hunting and self-defense, plus you can switch back to the original barrel while hunting small game and birds.
I tend to stay away from the extended magazine tubes, but a lot of people have added then in order to extend their magazine capacity. The same goes for folding stocks and other accessory’s , I prefer to leave them off, but this is a matter of personal preference. I like my guns, like I like my women plain and functional without all the glitter. But some guys like shinny things.
Keep Surviving.
