South Carolina Rep. Mike Pitts has introduced legislation that would mandate that gold and silver coins replace federal currency as legal tender in his state.
As the Palmetto Scoop first reported, Pitts, a Republican, introduced legislation this month banning “the unconstitutional substitution of Federal Reserve Notes for silver and gold coin” in South Carolina.
In an interview, Pitts told Hotsheet that he believes that “if the federal government continues to spend money at the rate it’s spending money, and if it continues to print money at the rate it’s printing money, our economic system is going to collapse.”
“The Germans felt their system wouldn’t collapse, but it took a wheelbarrow of money to buy a loaf of bread in the 1930s,” he said. “The Soviet Union didn’t think their system would collapse, but it did. Ours is capable of collapsing also.”

SOUNDS LIKE SOUTH CAROLINA IS READY TO START ANOTHER CIVIL WAR.FROM JAY IN NC
I think the all money should go back to being back with gold.
This could put the spenders in Washington on notice, and they would have to cut their spending.
Other states should do the same thing. This would let the states take back the power they loss or given up to the Federal goverment.
PREPARE FOR THE WORST AND PRAY FOR THE BEST
Lead the way SC.
if i could i would move there and if he ever runs for president he has my vote
I believe the founders were aware that sooner or later the country would decline, they simply had no idea that fiat money would become the norm, that the judicial system would become a defacto legislature creating laws from ether, that those with nothing to loose and everything to gain (non land holders) would exercise franchise, that true representation as originally set up would be nullified due to "congressmen standing in the isles".
What if only congress "persons" from donor states were allowed to vote? Reciever states, due to there failed fiscal policy, forfeit their right to vote on proposed legislation until such a time that they again contribute to the prosparity of the country. The same with the "tax payer" payer being the operative word, you don't pay you don't vote.
Don't like that, well then we make everyone a tax payer with a flat tax, problem solved, sort of. You see even those on welfare pay "tax" on what the recieve, or at least report on what they recieve for tax purposes. If your on welfare, you lose franchise.
Just some ideas of mine ( and others)
Way to go S.C. its a start.

Our economic system has collapsed – American just don't "get it" yet. Even President Obama has said "We're broke". It's not a question of how to prevent a collapse, or what to do if a collapse occurs. Our system has collapsed. It's a question of how to rebuild it. A sound currency (based on gold and silver) would be a good start.
That's what needs to be done, but post collapse. We're running on credit, our gold reserves are minimal. A move like that would turn the dollar into toilet paper overnight and the countries left holding the bag would "foreclose" on America. What I see happening is a controlled collapse where the WORLD economy is brought down in stages and we re-emerge under one currency. I hate the idea, but that's what will happen. The exchange rate USD –> global currency will wipe most everybody out.
If South Carolina starts another Civil War I'm their side. It's about time states start standing up to nanny government. I sure hope all the politicians have watch dog readers of all the blogs. They better because if those in office don't protect our rights, we will vote them out.
This was a pre plan move on their part. They can't get the New World Order without it, let alone NAFT highway. I'm sure the North Americn Union has something to do with it also.
This is all pre planned and it iS "TREASON".
People should draw their line now, because it all will tumble down.
Food and fuel will keep you broke.
Get PREPARED NOW, you don't have much time.

I agree. We should all switch to gold and silver, because soon the dollar will be worthless.
