could you post it, or could I get a copy on word or txt. I sent it to my kndle, but the test is tinny. BTW, the knidld is a great prepper device. No, really, dont laugh. You can store thousands of books in a device tha weights ounces and has a battery life measured in days not hours and can be recharged from a solar panel in a few hours. Thanks

Great book and a great resource thank you. Can't believe you are just giving it away. You are the man.

theotherryan January 1, 2010 at 11:21 AM

Thanks, I read it last night. Definitely enjoyed it and picked up a couple new ideas.

I have always wanted to try to store a combination of staple foods in one 5-gallon bucket then have them stored randomly for 'easy to get to' caches. What would you recommend for this type storage? I know that individual preferences would vary, but what basics would you suggest? Thanks for a great post and I am praying for a wonderful, prepared 2010 for all!

chinasyndrome January 1, 2010 at 3:39 PM

Very, generous of you! I am printing a copy for each of my children. Don't think they'll use,but I did my part.As long as Pizza hut delivers, and they can play guitar hero, watch ufc fights nothing wrong with world.OOOohhh.Thank you!!

Anonymous 11:14 PM,

Try printing it off from a computer – it is a PDF format. I would post it here but it's 30 pages long.

M.D. Creekmore January 1, 2010 at 3:55 PM

Anonymous 10:30 AM,

For 'easy to get to' caches using plastic buckets, I recommend the Gamma Plastics Vittles Vault Seal Lid for easy access to the contents.

Mechanic in Illinois January 1, 2010 at 4:14 PM

Hey everyone, you can get the Gama lids for buckets from Sportsman's Guide @ sportsmansguide.com and food grade 5 gal buckets for free from clubs like the Moose & Elk's Clubs. They get pickles&onions in them and have always given them away. Happy New Year everyone and make this a year to prepare.

Grumpyunk January 1, 2010 at 10:11 PM

You may check here for Gamma seals. Considerably cheaper if you buy them in a 6 or 12 pack.

No affiliation, just bought from them before.

Tried to download but as always it comes out encrypted and I can't read encrypt. Anyone know how to get around this? A little help please.

M.D. Creekmore January 2, 2010 at 12:15 AM

tjbbpgobIII,

Don't know why you would have trouble downloading it – it is a PDF file, do you have adobe reader?

Anonymous January 2, 2010 at 12:37 AM

You rock.
Thanks for the download. Keep up the good work (and get back to building AR's).

connieb January 2, 2010 at 1:32 AM

Thanks a million for the freebie, good checklist…Thought I was up to par on all….lol….now have to do more…..you can never have too much, learn too much, or prepare too much!

You suck and your ebook wasn't worth the price you should pay us to read it. If I want real information I will read JWR's preparedness course.

M.D. Creekmore January 2, 2010 at 2:05 AM

Anonymous 8:56 PM,

Thank you for your comment and I'm sorry that you found my ebook less than useful. Hopefully it will help others prepare.

As for the JWR preparedness course, I can't say if it is better because I've never read it. If you think it will help you become better prepared then by all means go for it.

Let me know how it turns out…

HEY MD,HOW LONG CAN TAP WATER BE STORED?I WAS READING THE PART ON STORAGE OF WATER AND I DID NOT SEE ANY TIME FRAME FOR SHELF LIFE ON THIS.FROM JAY IN NC

M.D. Creekmore January 2, 2010 at 4:00 AM

Jay,

Treat tap water with a chlorine bleach solution (six drops (1/8 teaspoon) of unscented bleach per gallon of water) prior to storage to prevent growth of harmful bacteria or pathogens.

If you store in opaque airtight containers, tap water treated in this manner can be stored indefinitely. But to be extra safe rotate the water every year.

MD, Thanks for the ebook. You have a great site, pay no mind to the critical idiots. If they don't like it, why the hell visit? Screw 'em.

Happy New Year, may 2010 NOT be the year we have to depend upon our survival store. With your help, and more time, many more will have put aside the necessary resources to get us through the tough times that are almost certainly ahead.

M.D. Creekmore January 2, 2010 at 7:54 PM

AZguy,

Well said and I could not agree more. It is sad when you put something together and give it away FREE and people still complain…

Anonymous January 2, 2010 at 9:53 PM

Your e-book is excellent! The table which lists various food items and shelf life is very helpful! Hurray for Spam…. love it with mustard. Bug out bag info is great too – to mention just a couple of items of this informative document. Sorry to read there was one grouch, but you can't please everybody. Keep up the good work! Looking forward to more of your insights in 2010. Thanks MD!

Patriot Farmer January 2, 2010 at 10:11 PM

Thanks for the listing. Once again sir you have out done yourself. This will make a good reference when I visit the local Sam's club next month.

Thomas Jackson January 2, 2010 at 11:45 PM

great read. http://tslrf.blogspot.com/ also had good things to say. Thanks for the info MD. Have a great New Years.

Anonymous January 3, 2010 at 9:52 PM

I like to look at your site and JWR as they both have good info. However your site is a lot more realistic. If you read JWR's stuff and followed it you would have to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars, all while moving to the middle of nowhere (how are you going to afford to pay for it – what kind of great paying job do you find in the middle of nowhere).

matthiasj January 4, 2010 at 4:17 PM

Thanks a lot Creekmore. Great e-book. Keep them coming!

Anonymous January 4, 2010 at 7:44 PM

Regarding you ebook" It's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine." The lyrics of a song by the commie rock band U2. That really makes me want to read this, not! Free and no doubt worth every penny.

Get a life jerk. Rawles Gets You Ready" preparedness course is much better and worth every penny.

M.D. Creekmore January 4, 2010 at 7:45 PM

Anonymous 2:44 PM,

Thank you for your comment it is much appreciated. Regarding the title of my ebook, it was meant to be more of a slap in the face for U2 than a testament of agreement toward their political views.

Anyway I hope you enjoy Rawles preparedness course and find it most useful. Good luck.

Anonymous January 4, 2010 at 8:19 PM

Fella's you are both incorrect on the group that put out "It's the end of the world as we know it…and I feel fine". That song was put out by another group with a singer who thinks he is god, R.E.M.

Thanks for the ebook, MD. Some people just have no manners.

crice118 January 5, 2010 at 6:26 PM

just downloaded the book – not read it yet but had to post after reading the comments
ANYTIME ANYONE DOES ANYTHING TO HELP OTHERS OPENS THEMSELVES TO CRITICISM BECAUSE SOME OTHERS FEEL BAD AT NOT BEING THAT UNSELFISH
even if I don't find anything useful you put yourself out there to help me – thanks – I appreciate it AND God is keeping score – 1 point in you favor in not responding in kind to your detractors (you followed the Golden Rule)

terri sammons~~Life is Good~~ January 6, 2010 at 3:47 AM

hello, trying to download but keeps telling me errors. Any way to send for a copy?? Thanks!

Anonymous January 6, 2010 at 9:34 PM

One piece of advice on your links in your PDF.

Whenever you do affiliate links from a document you distribute, make them go through your own site instead of direct linking to Amazon.

Why?

Because products will change, Amazon will change url structures, etc., and you will end up with dead links in your document.

Link to a page on your site that redirects (using appropriate affiliate structure) to the Amazon product. If the product is no longer carried, you can explain that on your site and direct people to another product.

This should greatly help preserve your recurring affiliate income from your PDF.
