Threats To Our Survival – What Do You Think?

by M.D. Creekmore on August 7, 2009

Today I’d like to try something a little different on the blog and open up a topic for some discussion.

This one could cause some ‘energetic’ conversation but I’d love to do an informal poll on it anyway.

What do you think is the greatest threat to our survival – and why?

This can be anything from economic collapse, peak oil and over population to a plane falling from the sky, so long as you perceive it is a threat – I’d love to hear your opinion and some of the reasoning for your choice.

There’s no right or wrong ultimately (although I know some readers hold strong opinions) – but hopefully in the discussion and reasons for your answer we’ll have some good learning.

the biggest threat is not a single threat at all, it is a series of catastrophies, each individual one of which could be dealt with but in conjunction and synergesticly playing off one another spell doom.
For example most disasters will be local and personal. You will loose your job. You will have to move to a less sustainable location such as a metropolis on the coast in order to find employment, due to the move you have to leave most of your preps behind. The economy continues to get worse – at least you have your job, though your apartment gets burglarized so often you dont bother with locks when you arent there. But then Peak Oil hits full force – Now you can no longer get back to your survival reteat either fuel is rationed or too expensive or just not available to the public. Crime increases even higher canabilism might be rumored. Then the power becomes intermittent and hygeine even more so. Plagues strike sweeping away the young and the old and the weak.
Yeah that doesnt even mention how an economic collapse can trigger wars, wars can trigger starvation, starvation can trigger plagues, plagues can interfere with trade which can cause economic collapse…………..

And finally to top it all off we will all die of old are if nothing else.
