Well, for a start it is highly pathogenic with a fatality rate of some 60% amongst known cases, it is estimated that many cases occurring in remote regions are unreported and that the case incidence and the mortality rate may well be considerably higher than this.”

The “Majority Opinion” Is An Illusion : “The moment men began refusing to develop their own world views without first asking “What does everyone else think?”, they set themselves up for an endless future of failures.”

  1. I just read the Missouri gun owners article in the paper this morning. I was shocked to read it. Ridiculous! Wonder if you would have to report that you have A gun or how many you have? Hopefully, this bill will die a quick death.

    • I was planning on buying a fram in Missouri. Now i womder if this is such a good idea.

    • It will never pass. Outside of St. Louis and Kansas City Missouri is a very conservative, pro-gun state. It just ticks me off that they would even propose this bill.

  2. worrisome says:

“Two-thirds of U.S. weapons owners would “defy” a federal gun ban………
Why don’t we work on making that much closer to 100%, we all need to step up and start working!

  3. riverrider says:

the gun poll is encouraging. my old chief warrant told me he thinks they would follow orders and try to pick up the guns, but i’m not sure he’s in the loop. this women-in-the-infantry thing isn’t going to help the morale in the army. they’re already pissed about getting killed by the r.o.e. and hung out to dry in benghazi. biden is coming to va friday, bringing his (female dog) tim cain with him. i hope the va assembly gives him an earful. this gun push could end up helping us. the last one resulted in a majority in the house.

    • Apparently just yesterday “another general” that speaks his mind and won’t bend to the political bs was told to take a hike. This is getting scary folks!

    • RR:

My DW is a 22 years veteran. You should have heard her when they announced they were THINKING of doing this! Last night she just sat there and burned a hole in the couch.

I’m sorry, JP, but I’m LOL at that image!

if i were a woman, i would ask tdl: “so, i’m good for combat but not your cabinet?” …… i’d love to see him squirm outta that one:)

  4. riverrider says:

the wicked wirch of the north “testified” yesterday. it was more like a broadway performance. they are still asking the wrong question. they are bent over the false statement after the fact. i couldn’t care less, they lie all the time, nothing happens. the REAL question is: who withheld help from those engaged in the battle at benghazi? i want that person/persons on a stick. i don’t even care why they did it, just put them on a stick……then it begs the question: why won’t ANYBODY ask that question? where was the prez? was he missing in action? stoned? what secret could possibly be worth those lives?

    • worrisome says:

      Wondered about all that myself…….

    • recoveringidiot says:

RR, your right, she is successfully dodging and distracting to keep the obvious question from even coming up. I’ll bet the requests came to her and she ignored them or worse turned them down outright. Some think the whole thing was set up as a October surprise that blew up or it was the closing of the weapons running TDL did for the Islamist rebels that took down qdaffy.
They know no bounds or hypocrisy.

    • HomeINsteader says:

North Korea and China have formed an “alliance”, albeit an uneasy one (given the history between them). NK is telling the US, “up yours”! Not surprising.

  5. Speaking of defiant gun owners, after the big Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show in Harrisburg, PA banned “black” rifles, several of the sponsors, vendors, and gun owners are boycotting the show. This blog has several articles documenting the boycott:

    • Backwoods Prepper says:

I just hope the 250,000 expected patrons boycott it. Some hunters and huntresses claim this to b e 1/3 of their yearly income so if the are willing to boycott then we should be too.

      • worrisome says:

I believe I heard that the whole show was cancelled. Need to check my facts on that……

        • Rider of Rohan says:

You’re correct, the ESOS has been canceled. A better outcome would be running the corrupt company Reed Exhibitions out of the US and back to Britain. They are the ones responsible for the mess in the first place.

    Emergency cooking method review!

Some goofball ran down a power pole in the ‘hood last evening, around 4:30 pm our time, which took out power until around 10 pm. I had a whole chicken roasting for dinner in my little electric roaster appliance, which was about half cooked. Not wanting to waste food or have to go out to eat (since money is very tight right now), I fired off a few brain cells and remembered a technique I had read but not tried. Well, now I’ve tried it – and it works!

Take two cast iron skillets; one should be only slightly smaller than the other (there’s the tricky part!). One has to sit down inside the other only about one-half to no more than one inch. I placed these two together, set the rack from my roaster in the bottom of the top pan, placed the chicken on top, and poured in the liquid from the roaster. I do not have a lid that will fit the skillet AND sit high enough to accommodate a whole hen, so I just covered it with heavy duty foil.

I then set this on medium flame (I have a gas stove, but any open flame, if moderate, should work). I continued to cook the chicken in this manner for an additional hour, and it worked! The meat fell off the bones, it was fully cooked, and it was delicious!

If you wonder why I didn’t use my gas oven – my stove is DIGITAL; yes, it’s gas, but it takes electricity just to set the oven. Without electricity, unless it is already on when the power goes out, I can’t use the oven.

So we enjoyed our lovely chicken baked by cast iron skillet “oven” method. And used the many oil lamps we have at the ready. No t.v. – woo-hoo! It was a most enjoyable evening!

    • recoveringidiot says:

I’ve done something similar, a rack inside a dutch oven, keeps the bird off the bottom of the pot and cooks as if it was in a roaster in the oven. I did start with some liquid in the bottom of the pot. I like this mix, 2 gobs of bacon grease, a little water and a shot of apple cider vinegar. If the pot is seasoned well it will clean up pretty easy, something I’m always concerned about in a disaster where water is short.

  8. I would tell my kids that we have plenty of guns in the garage. I have 2 grease guns and 3 caulking guns and to 1/2 inch tire guns. I sold my 3/8 gun to a guy at a local shop.Yesterday I had a dr appointment. I got a tetnus shot and they tried to sell me on a flue shot. I am in the age group where people get them however, I have yet to get one. They did not understand why I did not consent to one. I don`t trust them.My arm is kinda sore but not bad since yesterday I rubbed the spot for a bit.

    • HomeINsteader says:

Well done on the refusing a flu shot, axelsteve. They are nothing but more Big Pharma lies.

  9. Mystery Guest says:

I figure it is not the responsibility of a U.S. citizen to voluntarily give out information as to what they have, be it a gun or gold toilet.
Yes, women can be mean and use a gun. But they ain’t not built like a man. Yes, they are smart, but even more emotional. If they have to carry a full field pack and fall out on a march they ain’t going to make any points with those that have to carry their stuff and the drop outs too. Are they going to find a place to squat to go to the restroom? Listen men are men and women are women. And don’t use that Israli point. The women there are defending their country not deployed out to another one. When they go home they are women not soldiers.
This is another bra-burning, women-libbers bunch of crap.
I don’t know where they got the numbers of 2/3’s would defy. I believe they have started the mind bending bull trying to get us to think that there are those that are capable of weakness. Just how many of you volunteered information on what you would do. Was there a poll taker in front of China Mart or something?????
Listen I don’t have any weapons, but I will give them what for, for even asking.

  11. Backwoods Prepper says:

As far as the MO gun reporting law If you don’t approve then vote with your feet. There are numerous other states to move to. I want to say I’m proud to be a member of the 2/3. Now to start my rant. I am really tired of the pidly crap (if that’s a word) that this country puts up with and the people that goes along with it. I seen where they want to fire a teacher for her own students putting a piece of tape on their own mouths as a joke and she takes a picture with the caption this is how you keep them quiet. some say she shouldn’t have done it it was against school policy well poop on school policy. I truly pray everyday for some kind of collapse to come to these uninted states wether it be political or economic. Its time for this country to start over. If I am one of the ones that don’t make it so be it. There is not a person on here that can say they are happy with this country and how we are treated. Innocent till proven guilty I don’t think so you are guilty till proven innocent. Ever got a speeding ticket and wasn’t speeding I have and lost in court. With a wife and daughter I am just at the poverty line and I do very well at prepping. I don’t want foodstamps I don’t want SSI but what I would like is not to be turned out of the doctors office because I don’t have my 20.00 copay and they take in miss medicaid crackhead trying to get her some oxy’s or lortabs. sorry folks had to vent.

  12. While no crime has been committed, the schools may have ‘the right’ to request such questioning, but as citizens, we still have the Fifth Amendment (so far) that we do not have to testify against ourselves… If you answer that type of question it will be on record and you have essentially testified against yourself before any crime may have been committed. What anyone owns is nobody else’s business.

As for vaccinations, I will take immunizations required for international travel, but in the past I would get a flu shot annually, and each year I would get sick for over a week… for the last 4 years I have not received a flu shot and have not gotten sick like I had in the past after receiving the flu shot.

Majority opinion… “everyone has an opinion and all of them stink” is commonly compared to rectums. However, IMHO I believe the majority of people are not too vocal of their opinion, and definitely not banned together with ‘the majority’ of others. I also believe the more vocal groups claiming to be the majority are just an organized group of the immoral minority.

  13. The MO gun reporting bill WILL not pass. It was proposed by a libtard, Obama worshiper from a very inner city St. Louis district. She just proposed the bill to get some brownie points from the higher up libtards. She looked and sounded like a jr. high school kid giving a report on her unicorn collection when she was on tv. She is just another one of the liberal socialist pie in the sky people that want to control everyones lives but not live by the rules they impose on others.

    • Stupid legislation is always coming out of KCMO and St. Louis social dems. If you take an in-depth look at those cities, you can see pretty quickly the rot that lies just under the surface. Both places exemplify the political mismanagement that plagues the national level in politics. Gives the rest of the state a bad name. Thinking about it… Get rid of those two cities and the crime rate for MO drops significantly.

Example – KCMO failing water infrastructure suffers an average 100 or so breaks per day. The money that could help fix this problem (in much needed renovations) is instead being pimped out for a proposed streetcar/light rail system to no where running down main street.

  14. HomeINsteader says:

That’s really funny, george (the way you explained the matter, I mean). The subject is not funny, but your explanation – LOL!

  15. HomeINsteader says:

Oxygen therapy may help stroke victims? Not surprised. I’ve tried to get oxygen therapy approved as a treatment for asthma RATHER THAN drugs. Not successful (Big Pharma doesn’t like that!). I am convinced that fresh oxygen, available as needed, would be a better choice for managing most forms of COPD, asthma, etc.

Yes – you can get an oxygen system and might even get your insurance to pay for it – if you’re close enough to dead; otherwise, you’ll have to pay for it yourself. This one I know.

  16. HomeINsteader says:

O.K., guys and gals…I love this, and have to share it!

    Stupid Question… Excellent Answer!

For those that don’t know him, Major General Peter Cosgrove is an Australian.

General Cosgrove was interviewed on the radio recently. Read his reply to the lady who interviewed him concerning guns and children.

Regardless of how you feel about gun laws you have to love this!
This is one of the best comeback lines of all time.

This is a portion of an ABC radio interview between a female broadcaster and General Cosgrove who was about to sponsor a Boy Scout Troop visiting his military Headquarters.

So, General Cosgrove, what things are you going to teach these young boys when they visit your base?

We’re going to teach them climbing, canoeing, archery and shooting.

    Shooting! That’s a bit irresponsible, isn’t it?

I don’t see why, they’ll be properly supervised on the rifle range.

Don’t you admit that this is a terribly dangerous activity to be teaching children?

I don’t see how. We will be teaching them proper rifle discipline before they even touch a firearm.

But you’re equipping them to become violent killers.

Well, Ma’am, you’re equipped to be a prostitute, but you’re not one, are you?

The broadcast went silent for 46 seconds and when it returned, the interview was over.

I would pay money to have seen her face…

I bet it would have made lemon juice look like honey.

    • HomeINsteader says:

My friend who sent this just sent me another message saying, “this could be a hoax”. It sure sounds like one, doesn’t it?! But it’s still funny!

      • HomeINsteader says:

I ran a search on him; he IS very real, indeed. I don’t find anything assigning this message to a “hoax”, but did find several places where it is posted.

  17. riverrider says:

well frankenstein’s ban list is out. everything i got is on the list. when exactly was a belt-fed semi auto ever used in a crime?

    • You know I wonder if she even knows what more than 2 or 3 of the guns are on her list. I bet she could maybe recognize 2 if you put them in front of her.

      • worrisome says:

Have you seen the picture of her standing there doing the “drama face- how terrible are guns” with her finger on the trigger. Second stupid Congressman/Senator this week. She gets a special email from me tonight.

      • HomeINsteader says:

wouldn’t that be fun? Here, Dianne…if you can pass this test….

      • Warmongerel says:

Of course she doesn’t know what any of the guns on her list look like. Her aides did the research and compiled the list.

These people are mouthpieces only. They don’t actually do any of the work.

I’ve hear it said many times that she is an absolute dolt. I’m not saying that in the insulting way that Liberals call anyone who disagrees with them a “big dummy”.

I mean that she is really unintelligent. I’ve heard the same about Barbara Boxer, Joe Biden (of course) and many others on the Left side of the aisle. They are just very stupid people who would be flipping burgers if they didn’t have certain advantages.

        • Advantages and are easily led! If you could just imagine Feinstein standing there with strings attached puppet style you would have it right.

          • riverrider says:

nah, i think she’s just a vindictive old bat(insert other “b” word here) she’s, god bless her, the ugliest woman i’ve ever seen and i guess she’s a little pissed at god about that. sorry, calls em as i sees em. i try to find something attracive about anybody i meet but with her….i got nothin.

    • I never seen a belt fed semi auto.

      • Backwoods Prepper says:

I know a company called project gun that sell conversion kits for your AR the will make them belt fed. .22 semi automatic belt fed 1919 knock off semi auto belt fed. they are out there.

        • I’ve seen the 1919 semi, but not a 50 cal. The conversion for an AR is a belt fed 22 LR conversion. Maybe she’s afraid of turning it into a belt fed 22 LR, adding a paddle kit, tripod, and some kind of trigger spring/crank, and they having terrorists and drug runners gunning people down from their sandbagged positions. I can envision it, but I have better things to do with $1,000 than turn an effective weapon in to a toy.

  18. georgeislearning says:

Wh yis it that flys are always landing on obamas face while he speaks. Is it because theres a bunch of BS coming out of his mouth?

  19. Kerry Easton says:

HomeIn steader. The Idea of oxygen is Hyperberic Oxygen and i used for stroke patients and for other healing. They are very expensive and take a specilist to do it. It is a very good therapy and should be used more. I have had Hyperberic therapy and it was $3600 per treatment and had to be done twice a day. It was the only thing that worked for me. I also looked at the stroke study and I know it works but the one you had the link to was a bad study. They screened the patients for the best outcome. My wife did a Drug study once for two years and I found out that they have ways to make these studies come out however they want.

    • HomeINsteader says:

OH, dear…I obviously did not take a close look at the study. Thank you! And thank you on clarification of type of oxygen treatment, as well. I did read the piece, and it did specifically state it was for Hyperberic therapy. I DO still believe, however, that simply making oxygen available would do wonders for helping keep many health issues in check, if only it were affordable and accessible.

  20. Hunker-Down says:

Watch the NRA logical, reasonable answers to Bigfoot Biden, Freaky Feinstein and the big-face bigmouth from NY.

  21. Warmongerel says:

“The response: 65 percent reported they would “defy the law.” That incudes 70 percent of Republicans, 68 percent of conservatives, 52 percent of Democrats and 59 percent of liberals.”

    a) How could a Liberal, in good conscience, actually own a gun?

    b) Why would almost 2/3 of Liberals say that they would defy a law that they support?

Hint: laws are meant to keep neandertals like you and me in line. Liberals need not be bothered by laws because they are always doing the right thing.

  22. 2/3 is a good start but we need 100%. The eastern outdoor show in PA was just cancelled…why?.The geniuses in charge decided to ban ‘modern sporting rifles’,over 170 venders and sponsors bailed.Because they stood together in defence of the 2nd amendment they were able to strike a blow to the wallets of the organizers. Feinstein said that in the last 8 years there were 350 people killed with assault weapons…350 in 8 years in a free country of 320 million people? Even 1 death is not ok but those numbers don’t amount to a epidemic of carnage worthy of changing the constitution. There are ways to improve public safety without making things worse.

  23. The older I get, the more disillusioned I become with our ‘benefactors’ in Washington (and State Capitols). They drift farther and farther from the intention of our Nation.

The bottom line on this folks is that they’ve forgotten that they work for US. I have no intention in responding to any of their ill-concieved plans in any manner that will give them a ‘heads up’ as to when or how it will be opposed. We’ve told them they are wrong. When we fire them, they will finally understand.

WE know our rights as they are laid out in the Constitution. Any explanation or history that is required pursuant to the Constitution is clearly written in their letters. Please read ‘The Federalist Papers’, as well as other political writings of the Founding Period. Have your children and spouses read them as well, they may need the information when they are out amongst the sheeple.

Live your lives as the Father intends, and our forefathers outlined, and the true ‘majority’ will rise to the top.

  24. I hear nothing but bad news from vaccines, but if they do work you’de never know.My father in law and sister in law work for a big pharma company, they won’t take certain drugs or vacs they try to use homeopathic as much as possible, thats all I need to know. Recently took my 4 year old to the dr for a check up,she has a cold runny nose, slight cough but was just in for a check up.The dr gave her 6 prescriptions totaling over $900! She wasn’t really even uncomfortable, let alone sick enough to need all that stuff. I stuck with what I was doing for her,and in a couple days she was all better, echinacia, vitamin c, zinc. If she had been really sick then maybe I would have used 1 or 2 of the ‘meds’ to see if they helped and how she reacted. All of them were to treat the symptoms, not to fight the illness, probably a virus.

  25. PrepPhoenix says:

I’m not saying I do or don’t have guns, but “hypothetically” if I did happen to procure anything on a banned weapons list I would argue that whatever I may or may not have would not be illegal; it would be “undocumented.” Then I would propose a “Dream Firearm Act.”

    • I do not have any guns, but I am quite proficient with bows… however, reading this post the “undocumented” comment made me laugh…
Just like there are not ‘illegal aliens’ there are ‘undocumented workers’ for which legislation is now fighting to make these ‘undocumented workers’ become American citizens.
Talk about a switch-of-the-flip…. lets make ‘undocumented workers’ American citizens and make ‘undocumented’ firearms banned.
This country is in sad shape… my ancestors going back to the Continental Army are probably turning in their graves having fought for not.
