Tuesday miscellany

my family survival Tuesday miscellany

Future tense, X: The fourth revolution : “Are we on the verge of a new upheaval, a “fourth revolution” that will reshape U.S. politics for decades to come? There are signs to suggest that we are. Many analysts expect President Obama to be reelected this November.”

Is Knoxville Tennessee a dead city walking? : “There are statistical indicators that Knoxville is heading down the path of the Last Mile, the Green Mile, the Last Roundup.”

JPMorgan just gives a calamitous economic forecast : “The worst recovery since the Great Depression shows no signs of improving.” This must be that hope and change we all heard so much about.

Las Vegas city leaders declare state of fiscal emergency : “The list of the nation’s summer disasters including floods, fires, and drought you can add a $30 million budget hole in North Las Vegas, Nevada.”

More taxes? “Senate Democrats appear willing to use your paycheck to play political hardball on taxes unless Republicans agree to President Obama’s plan to raise taxes on America’s top earners.”

Preventing a bird flu pandemic : “As scientists delve deeper into H5N1 avian influenza, they have discovered it is only three steps way from mutating into a potentially lethal human pandemic form, adding new urgency to a debate over how to protect humans.”

I am one of those people who think that Comrade Barry will be re-elected.
(Understand, I don’t like any Republicans or their stinking Party much)

I believe that the Ron Paul supporters will pull enough votes away from Romney, to put Obama over the top. This same thing happened when Ross Perrot’s supporters gave the election to Hillbilly Bill.

No offense to Hillbilly’s, Rednecks, or Crackers, as I am a proud member of the club. I drive a pickup, eat grits more than twice a week, always wear a “ball” cap, own more than one dog and a barn. Fish for Bass and hunt Deer with my shotgun. CAN I GET AN AMEN?

    • riverrider says:

amen… hell, awoman, must be equal at all times you know, lol.

    • village idiot says:

I don’t think Ron Paul will run in the Presidential election, and I think he will support Romney. The last I read Paul rejected a run as a 3rd Party candidate. Liberatarian Party might draw off some support from Romney, but the Green Party will draw off some of Obama’s support. I think the election is up for grabs right now. If Comrade Barry gets back in due to election fraud, then the SHTF.

    • SurvivorDan says:

      AMEN!!!

    • michael c says:

      Amen pa…

  2. Ah!!! I see there is no good news again today.
    Guess I expected to much.
I like this segment even if it does kinda give a feller the blues.
    Thanks M.D.

    • SurvivorDan says:

      There is some good news!

“There is an underground of voters who are aware, and they communicate.
My feeling is that the urban/suburbia divide will grow, and as the urban centers decay, the revolution will become apparent. What the political elites are not seeing is the truly revolutionary effects of the internet in how we can conduct business, socially communicate with each other and obtain information from sources other than mass media. That is the key. Thoughful people know how to sample various viewpoints with an open mind.

We will survive. We will evolve. The niche will be filled. It always will. The hybrid multi-racial American will fill it. And they will have watched and understood “The Hunger Games” and retained a rifle instead of a bow.”
Less dramatic than picking up rifles in defense of the Constitution but the national movement to more vocal and active Conservatives continues on and may swing the November elections. That’s good.

Some good news is by extrapolation: North Las Vegas civic leadership is fighting back against the ridiculously excessive rules of civil service unions retirement scams. That’s good.

The Demican or Republicrat who sticks us with more taxes will likely get hoisted on his own petard. That’s good news.

I am not holding my breath that Obama will be defeated cuz I think the fix is in. But…
“On a year-ago basis real GDP has been growing at a below-trend pace since early last year. If our forecast is anywhere near correct, that pattern will persist for at least another year, and perhaps even longer.”
While bad news for the rest of u,s this forecast being accurate may be worse news for the Obama re-election machine. That’s good news.

      Chin up kiddo. :)

  3. riverrider says:

fourth revolution? more like second civil war. we are two cultures forced together by geography. as such we will be in a constant state of turmoil until we seperate, or destroy one or both cultures.

    • Kelekona says:

Riverrider, I’d like to hear more on the two cultures. I assume it’s about socialist nanny state versus having as much freedom and responsibility as possible.

It does look a lot like nothing good or bad can get done because the democrats and the republicans are knee-jerk in making the other look incompetent.

      • riverrider says:

k, yes pretty much sums it up. one culture of self reliance, another of reliance on others. one wants nothing more from gov’t than freedom to live life, the other wants a free living. everything is lining up like 1850 again. i disagree on the dem-rep view tho. the dems went power crazy when they won the majority, it was my-way-or-the-highway, and they hung obama out to dry in their money spending frenzy. i knew then he was in WAY over his head. when the tea party candidates led the reps to the majority they tried to work with the dems at first, but the dems even voted down things THEY had wanted earlier just because the reps were proposing it. harry reid won’t let bills obama proposed even come to the floor because reps voted in favor of it. reid and pelosi are both crooked and need to be gotten rid of. thats where our gridlock originates. the reps are lousy at getting that out to the public, its almost like they WANT to lose.

        • worrisome says:

River Rider you are very right! The fix is in however as Reid won re election in 2010 easily on the vote of the SEIU primarily in las vegas. Of note, the Dems will have some trouble using Romney’s Mormon background as long as Reid is around as he is also Mormon. As far as Pelosi, she panders to the illegals when she is home, while her husband is one of the biggest businessmen in California that is sending jobs off shore. Feinstein’s husband is every bit as a guilty of the same thing. And Babs Boxer? Well you have seen where her silly mind is with her latest entrant in legislation. A friend of mine made a statement that resonated for me, they are all worried about painting the fire doors a new color while the building is burning down.

    • village idiot says:

river, my son was called into his 1st Sgt.’s office this morning and told that since he didn’t re-up he is being chaptered out of the Army. Do you know what this means, the time line on it, and what the boy should expect? Of course, he didn’t ask any questions, just assumed that he was being let out early.

      • riverrider says:

vi, tell him to get details asap! chaptered out to my knowledge is being kicked out “for cause” and can hurt his future plans. the time line could vary widely depending on too many variables even down to the personnel sections workload, or who’s on leave or not. GET THE DETAILS, and FIGHT IT LIKE HELL, unless he actually did something silly. even then i think i’d fight it.

        • village idiot says:

river, I can’t figure it out. He has never been in any trouble or anything, never failed a PT test, was in the Commander-in-Chief’s Guard for 3 years, and transferred to 4ID so he could deploy. When he didn’t re-up and told them he wanted to go to college, he was sent to another squad and told he was being chaptered out. They did tell him he would get an Honorable Discharge.

          • SurvivorDan says:

Attitudes in every organization trickle down from the top. And the top is rotten.

I’m just an old out-of-the-loop grunt but I think that means discharged (honorably) for health reasons which can be for physical or mental health reasons. Not horrible but not very desirable. They have no reason to do that except spite and I’ve seen that sort of thing.
He needs to to ask that 1st a few more questions and failing to get answers, needs to get legal advice. Civilian attorney who specializes in dealing with the military. The appearance of an attorney requesting information or a hearing will make their A-holes pucker. They would rather settle by letting him out in the proper manner. Negative stuff on one’s DD-214 can haunt a fella.

My youngest is a proud jarhead and I would urge him to get legal advice from a civilian attorney who has experience in these matters. Good luck to your son and thank him for his service from an old 11B.

            • SurvivorDan says:

If it were my Marine Corps son I would get him a lawyer, at least for advice. I ‘love’ when the military discharges young people with less than honorable with the promise that it will upgrade to a full honorable after a year. Usually does but there is a paper trail. And why do it that way.
Kids get disgusted when they experience the kind of BS your son is getting and just want to get out at that point so the ‘carrot’ of any type of honorable seems good enough. “We’ll let you out tomorrow if you just except these crappy terms. Sign here.”
I really don’t like the sound of that ‘chapter’ stuff. Git a lawyer.

            • SurvivorDan says:

              …’accept’….
              {English is my second language – very complicated…}

          • riverrider says:

vi, never heard of it being anything but adversarial, but i been out a while. i would request jag assistance to be safe.

            • axelsteve says:

Just a wild guess but they are acting like the marines did in the early 80s. They figured that they had to many of them and were trying to get people out. They did stepped up drug testing and etc to get some out and they did to my friend what it sounds like is happening here .Is they release you before you get a chance to re up.

      • worrisome says:

Could it be that the sgt is just saying that so he can put pressure on him to re up?

        • SurvivorDan says:

Pressure to re-up? Maybe so. Still need legal advice. But while I don’t have a problem with going to the JAG office I would also get advice from a civilian attorney with experience dealing with the military. JAG attorneys work for the same people as the First.

  4. JP in MT says:

Man, today is just full of good news.

  5. village idiot says:

The article on the Fourth Revolution was interesting, but hardly eye-opening for the folks here. Most of us think the next few years will play out much worse than what that author envisions. If Obama is re-elected, he will do nothing to improve the economy, but will attempt to impose his rule with foreign treaties, czars, executive orders, more regulation, and edicts. If Romney gets the job, I doubt he will be able to govern, as the Democrats will think it their duty to gain revenge on Republicans who they think submarined Obama. The nation suffers either way.

Only the 1850s saw this country more polarized. But, no matter, the credit markets will shortly decide everything. When our borrowing costs soar, or credit becomes unavailable, or foreign countries dump their US debt instruments then the ponzi scheme comes to an end. Things are likely to get rough, especially in medium and large cities. As I sit here right now, the Chairman of the Federal Reserve is talking about more QE(money printing). The inmates are truly in charge of the asylum.

    • Cold Warrior says:

      Village Idiot,
I too am concerned about how polarized America has become, but I’m not so sure it is a bad thing.

As one of my hero’s, Sen. Barry Goldwater once said, ” Extremism in the defence of Liberty is not a vice and moderation in the pursuit of Justice is not a virture”.

The election of Abe Lincoln set off our first Civil War, will the re-election of Comrade Obama set off our second?

All I know is that everywhere I turn, I hear and read that should Obama get relected, Free America is toast. There comes a time when men need to be men and do what is needed to protect their loved ones. “All it takes for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing. “.

    • I’m glad to know I’m not the only one seeing parallels to the years before the Civil War, I’ve kinda been feeling that I was alone out here.

There are a lot of things you can learn from history (my college education was in history and I continue to read voraciously in the field) and there are a lot of signs that seem to point towards another period like the U.S. prior to the Civil War or perhaps Europe prior to WWII.

Of course, history never exactly repeats itself, but certain things do appear to happen over and over again…

      • recoveringidiot says:

Victoria, at least you know what happened in our past and by past I mean world history. We have so many that have no knowledge of history at all or worse a version taught in public school that don’t come close to the real thing, they will base their political values and ideas on what they learn from tv or worse the academic institutions that are full of socialists and worse. Our present leader is a product of that academic failure/takeover and the corrupt Chicago political machine. I only see it getting worse, I ask my young nephews do they know where our current welfare state got its start and they have no clue much less why I might even ask the question in the first place. Makes me sad but I still try to convince them to learn some of our history any way I can. I believe the USA is doomed, there are more voters voting for the candidate that promises more from the public coffers than voters who pay taxes and usually vote for the more conservative candidate. Very soon the nonworking, non tax paying sector will out number the tax payers by enough of a margin to tip us into collapse. I hope it is a slow process so as to allow folks to realize whats coming and prepare/adapt.
        Sorry for the inarticulate rant.

        • village idiot says:

Not inarticulate at all, recovering. Aristotle no less said that all democracies fail due to lax fiscal policy. When people find out they can vote themselves money from the public treasury, then a democracy will fail. That’s why our founding fathers created a Republic. Too bad we couldn’t keep it.

  6. SurvivorDan says:

We are hot and tired but we can get past the myopia caused by doom and gloom as there is good news today.
Re-read the articles on today’s miscellany and find the positive news. M.D. didn’t slap up only depressing news. Indeed, he warns us of the bad stuff but there is hope in there.

We are preppers not because we see only the bad and are overwhelmed and thus, throw up our hands in resignation and bury our heads in the sand, but because we have hope and determination to persevere. Perhaps even to prevail in the end.
We will not allow ourselves and our families to be forced to kneel and beg for aid from THEM. We can never be daunted for long by setbacks, both micro and macro. And few of us will tolerate the Feds violating our rights and standing on our necks.
In the prevailing WolfPack mindset, there is hope.
    Say! That is good news…..
    ;)

  7. Caoimhin says:

Corporatism or Socialism , Mitt Vs Barry. At least under Corporatism we can keep our traditions going as long as we play along with them. Socialism, well we see how that has worked for the others. No happy ending there. Ron Paul is the last political spark of real freedom. How will we adjust to the new world order? Mitt and BO are not really the same they have 2 different paths to controlling our lives. At least Mitts path lets us pretend we have returned to Mayberry.

    • Cold Warrior says:

Crappy choice huh? Sort of like being told to either eat sh*t or go blind.
The Dem’s are marxist scum and the Repub’s are lying scum, either way we loose.

Sure, Red Dawn happened Nov. 2008, but America ani’t dead yet!

It’s our choice, be the land of the free and the home of the brave again, or the land of the sheep and the home of the slave. Time to choose up sides for the “Big Game” .

      • riverrider says:

cw, i think those decisions have been made for us, the “extreme right wing terrorists”. if you ain’t for ‘em, you’re agin ‘em is their creed. thats all right with me. my only question remains, will they welcome peacekeepers with open arms like they’re telling syria et al to do or will they change their tune and say “its an internal matter of terrorists” ? i’m betting on the latter. thats okay, they called mosby a terrorist too, and sent another terrorist to catch him, g.a. custer. some other terrorists took care of him later. if i die a “terrorist” i hope history will say “freedom fighter” instead, but i hold no illusion that it will. as long as my family knows the truth i’ll rest in peace.

        • SurvivorDan says:

We know where your heart is riverrider. That may have to be enough.

        • Thomas T. Tinker says:

RR, CW: Have you ever know of a government that has lacked any number of people to do its bidding. Any number of plan folks to frisk your kids at an airport. Any number of plan folks to pad lock you home for any sort of ‘tax’ issue. Good Gawd we have any number of plan folks that will do any thing they are asked.. or told.. to do in order to feel they remain ahead of the masses in some way, to feel they somehow control anything at all. Does anyone think the is any lack of plan folks willing to sit at some ‘agency’ terminal and ‘edit’ this post… this blog.. your credit history.. your stores discount card.

We will defeat ourselves and count ourselves lucky to be one of the shmucks at the head of any line or list that will give us any… thing that someone else has had taken away form them.

Ever read a book by W.W. Johnston titled “Out of the Ashes” check it out and then surf the blogs as to just how badly the Feds ‘f – – ked’ this guy over for writing a piece of ‘speculative fiction’. The fella’s philosophy is rather preachy. Thing is, the fella is right on the mark. Read it and form your own opinion of the “Tri-States Philosophy” of a free society.

          • JP in MT says:

            TT Tinker:

I loved there series, could hardly wait for each new book to come out. He also wrote a lot of westerns with the good guy having the same attitude. And they did mess with him quite a bit. Hope he’s resting peacefully now.

I can believe Las Vegas is having a hard time – folks can’t afford to lose any more…

    • Michael c: Las Vegas lost out when the Big G moved in on their action.

      • axelsteve says:

A bar in my neighborhood closed down. People can`t afford drink. Another on closed down in a bigger town south of me.I never heard of that happening.

    • worrisome says:

The area of concern is a separate entity/city called North Las Vegas, and yes they are in a mess and the unions will not compromise.

  10. Hunker-Down says:

TDL has contempt for the constitution and the USA.

    http://2016themovie.com/media/

This movie shows his contemptuous actions, and more importantly, his motivation and where it comes from.

His bowing to the Saudi king now makes sense as he continues his plan to make us a second rate nation. Printing dollars into infinity is a part of that plan.

Detroit, Las Vegas and other bankrupt towns will not stink enough by election time to defeat TDL, but they are dying and satisfying TDL’s goals.

Transferring the unemployed onto Medicaid is another path to financial ruin, and another path to TDL getting reelected.

Voting every 4 years is not going to get us out of this mess.

    • village idiot says:

      HD,

I really miss Lynn’s prescient remarks on the TDL and his lust for power. I can just imagine what she would have said about his dufus remarks yesterday that business owners owed their success to government, as if government exists without taxes, a big chunk of which comes from business. Barack Obama is the dumbest President ever, not book wise, but life wise. He has never done one thing in his life other than live off the taxpayer. The media hid all this man’s faults from us, and are complicit in the destruction of this country.

      • riverrider says:

vi, krauthammer said it best…”this from the man that hasn’t run so much as a candy store.” LOL, gotta love Krauthammer. i’m proud that it was in va that he stepped on his pecker so hard it might cost him the election. sic semper tyrannus. tdl wants romneys tax records. lets see tdl’s birth cert first, then his transcripts and then his thesis papers, all sealed tight. wonder why???????? funny how his books published before the 08 campaign say he was “kenyan born”. current additions deleted that section. that said, FOOD is the real catalyst for revolt. arab spring was brought on by failed harvests, surging prices that the people couldn’t even buy the staples of life. only then, with nothing to lose did they risk revolt. well, look out west my friend. its coming, and hells coming with it.

        • SurvivorDan says:

Food shortages indeed imminent. Though it is my financial ‘slow’ season, I am stepping up my preps. Even if it means only a year of temporarily jacked up prices, I will live on yesterday’s food prices. Get ready folks…

      • Hunker-Down says:

        village idiot,

I wonder who is controlling the media? As a group, they are treasonous. As individuals, they are dim witted sheeple.

    • SurvivorDan says:

Probably come to nothing but today Sheriff Arpaio is trumpeting that Obama’s birth certificate is definitely a forgery.
I used to work with the current head of the cold case group that investigated it. He tells me that there is no question but, like homicide cases we once worked on, an investigator can be certain as to guilt…….but he has to ‘prove’ it.
The Sheriff’s exact words were that no qualified forensic document expert could swear that the birth certificate is real because it is a blatant forgery. The Sheriff is calling for a congressional inquiry. All congressmen are now up for re-election so who the hell is going to touch this? Besides the powers that be know that deposing barry means the cities will burn. Lovely……

      • riverrider says:

i saw a “copy” of it, well, the form they put up as one anyway. in fact it was an application for a cert, and it looked like a 5th grader trying to change his report card before daddy sees it. one guy says the hospital didn’t open until a year later. kinda makes you go hmmmmm.

        • Hunker-Down says:

          riverrider,

          I don’t go hmmmmm, I scream B.S.!
Tell a lie often enough and the sheeple (and the media) believe it.

It is not our responsibility to prove it false, it is his to prove it is authentic, and he has already shown he objects to that, along with revealing his grade transcript. Hopefully Sheriff Arpaio gets some traction on this issue.

          • riverrider says:

hd, they will be on sheriff joe like stink on crap, making him out to be a fruit as they always try to do anyway. he keeps getting elected tho :)

            • Hunker-Down says:

              riverrider,

Maybe we could go to his county and gather a few thousand names from gravestones and use them to vote for Sheriff Joe, just like TDL is helping all those occupants vote for him.

            • SurvivorDan says:

The Justice Dept. is already all over Joe for alleged civil rights violations. And he will get re-elected.

AZ, you just nailed it. At this point I remember the Chinese parable that was offered by the CIA agent near the end of the movie “Charlie’s War.” While most people were running around declaring any and every event or development as wonderful or terrible, the wise man always responded with, “we will see…”
My personal assessment of our situation is that most of the “survivalists” or “preppers” are the remnants of society who still have pragmatic wisdom and can see through the delusions and deceptions. We are coming up to a grand reset that will purge the power of governments and social systems. A lot of good people will be lost. Probably too many people harboring too much evil will also survive. The good news is that the balance will likely be radically changed.
It should be sobering to realize that When Katrina purged New Orleans, many good people were lost, but most who came back and stayed did so determined to make it better this time knowing bigger does not qualify as better.)

Prepare well. teach your children before, during, and after the times of trouble. Do not forget or let your children forget, “None of this is really new; it is just that most people forgot these things have happened before, ‘We’ got through it before, and we will get through it again.”
