Tuesday miscellany

Sorry Texas, White House says state must remain part of the US : “The White House has responded to a petition asking that Texas be allowed to break away from the country, saying the Founding Fathers who created the nation “did not provide a right to walk away from it.”

My state, Tennessee with 32,694 signers received the same response from the federal government… The full white house response can be read here

O war! Thou son of hell – As America stands on the verge of domestic war, my heart sobs for history harshly learned : “Today, America stands on the verge of domestic war precisely because America stands on the verge of dictatorship.”

Where the nation is heading ? New York Senate passes tough gun law : “New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo unveiled his proposal to bolster the state’s gun laws late Monday after weeks of behind-the-scenes negotiations with legislative leaders, with a full ban on assault weapons slated to take effect as soon as it is passed.”

GOP congressman threatens impeachment if Obama uses executive action for gun control : Yep, and like always the president will walk away unharmed politically and with a big smile on his face as he takes another vacation to Hawaii.

By Decree Of The King: “There Are Some Steps That We Can Take That Don’t Require Legislation” : “President Obama, much like his predecessors, has implemented scores of policy changes by way of Executive Order, a legal technique that allows the Commander-In-Chief to delegate legislation that, just like a bill passed in Congress, has the full force and authority of law.”

Greg Hunter: If The Fed Stops Printing, The Collapse Would Be So Incredible That People Would Eat Each Other In The Street!

Goldman Sachs And The Big Hedge Funds Are Pushing Leverage To Ridiculous Extremes : “As stocks have risen in recent years, the big hedge funds and the “too big to fail” banks have used borrowed money to make absolutely enormous profits. But when you use debt to potentially multiply your profits, you also create the possibility that your losses will be multiplied if the markets turn against you.”

Long Term Unemployment at Highest Level Since WWII : “Long term unemployment under President Obama is at the highest level since at least the end of World War II, threatening to create a permanent underclass of workers who will find it difficult or impossible to obtain jobs in the future.”

Federal Welfare Spending to Skyrocket 80 Percent in Next Decade : “Federal welfare spending will skyrocket 80 percent over the next decade, according to new analysis by the minority side of the Senate Budget Committee.”

New pay-per-mile scheme would boost taxes 250 percent : “An on-again, off-again move by the Obama administration to scrap the federal gas tax in favor of a pay-per-mile fee would boost the tab to Americans as high as 250 percent, raising their current tax of 18.4 cents a gallon to as high as 46 cents, according to a new government study.”

  1. Secession isn’t the answer. These United States are much stronger together. What is needed is to seperate the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, a corporate entity created after the Civil War, from these United States and restore the Constitution.

  2. The New York assembly is debating Cuomo’s gun control right now. It has come up more than once that the intention is to pass something before Washington does, and that it comes down to Prince Andrew Cuomo’s aspirations for the White House in 2016. One assembly-person complained that they did not receive a copy of the bill until midnight and the state is pushing them to vote on it today.

  3. Here’s a great idea for fighting back on the gun control issue. Check it out on the Gun Owners of America site gunowners.org. The title of the little blurb is “A good idea for gun ownership”. The Vermont State Rep, Fred Maslack has suggested a 500 fee on those who choose not to own a gun, and therefore are not ready to defend the state as part of the militia.

I think it’s a fine idea…MD if I could cut and paste I would have in an email to you so you could post it. Haven’t figured this netbook out that well yet.

    • A good idea for gun ownership

If you have a usb port on your netbook you can use a regular usb mouse with it. I bought a little travel mouse to use with my old Asus netbook. I use a usb mouse and full keyboard with my regular laptop as well. Hate trackpads and laptop keyboards with a passion…lol. They aren’t made to fit either of my fingers that know how to type.

  4. j.r. guerra in s. tx. says:

Sorry White House, but Texas was a NATION before the U.S. joined up with Texas (couldn’t resist that dig there, lol). Texas and Hawaii (which itself was a kingdom before it became a U.S. state) have different origin.

I wish some media outlet would list the gun laws which are ALREADY on the books and compare them with what they are proposing now – criminals don’t care about new laws they already break now. Sullivan Law – passed in 1911 I think, hard to believe so many crimes occur with century old handguns . . .

Has anyone else read the Uncle Remus blog yet ? GREAT post on demonstrating how our country is run by idiots – a must read for that alone.

**pic is NOT mine or from MY twitter account**

      • This is great. LOL

      • I need one of those! I wonder if NY would consider this an assault weapon.

        • Ah, if only it was real it would be great for squirrels. No more hunting around to find where they fell. But then I’d have to take a ladder and a nail puller with me into the woods…lol.

Not to mention it would bring a whole new meaning to the phrase “Nailed it!”

There are ways around everything. thats great stuff!

    • Dean in Michigan says:

Was it not the U.S. that declared that using human shields was an act of terrorism? During his most controversial press conference? Do any of THESE children have their own personal secret service? I doubt it.

  6. Thomas T. Tinker says:

I find that ‘Government’ at all levels becomes all the more grasping in it’s need for money… ours… as it ups the amount of interest it must pay on what is owed.

Maybe the answer is a complete ‘reset’ of Goverment and it’s ‘mandates.’ It is a corrupt basket of fruit. Leave any of the old behind and it will begin to rot the new at once.

    • riverrider says:

t3, yep, my idea was to make all laws expire in six years unless voted on individually to renew. i can fix welfare quick. require them to work for it. pick up trash(which a lot of them tossed on the street to begin with), recycle, if nothing else get their fat arse up at 0700 and go down to the unemployment office(which would be renamed the employment office) and sit until 1630. no tv, no bon-bons, no obama phones. too fat is NOT a disability, unless blood tests prove a malfunction. etc,etc.etc. the answers aren’t rocket science, just common sense.

    • I dont know why they just dont print what they need ……unbacked currency is worthless the second its no longer backed by anything tangible . I think its just to destroy the middle class , thats one of the first things Communists go after .

  7. riverrider says:

TO ARMS TO ARMS! the dictator decrees 19 executive orders to “save one child” but not one new idea, just more gun grabbing. wanna save kids? ban cell phones, slow down cars, have an iq test and licensing to procreate, ban doctors which killed 195,000 people last year alone, ban buckets because more drowned in buckets than killed by assault rifles, ban bathtubs because more yet drowned in the tub. we all know this ain’t about the kids, its about control. ask ann frank, cory tennboom, or any elderly jewish lady. 10 out of 10 dictators agree, gun control works. registration, confiscation, extermination. nullify, seceed, revolt!

    • riverrider says:

happy to say Virginia leads the way again: rep. bob goodlatte leads the reading of the CONSTITUTION on the house floor, only the second time in history. bob says gun ban a “non-starter”in the house. yeah, bob! my letters were heard after all! now i’m going to the ste level to demand nullification, secession, or revolution. sic semper tyrannus

    • Riverrider,

Yep, or just increase security at schools… but that is a radical idea according to the gun grabbers…

      • M.D.- Seems that increased security at schools works extremely well in Isreal, so why do people have such an issue? Isreal is a more violent place than here, and it’s working.

        • smiledr,

Because for them it’s not about saving lives or the children, it’s about furthering their agenda to disarm law abiding Americans.

          • Dean in Michigan says:

            For sure!!!!!!!

TDL’n POS is gonna put children in a dangerous position tomorrow. I wonder if HIS kids are gonna be there? I doubt it.

    • PGCPrepper says:

I saw today that someone said those pics of the kids were of missing children. Did anyone see any kids outside “authorities’? Why is no one asking questions on a national level? I know the MSM is corrupt but no one?

      • That’s something to consider PGCPrepper. Regarding the little girl whose picture the media keeps showing, Emilie Parker. I am positive I have seen her picture somewhere before…LONG before Newtown. I’m talking possibly years. I’ve been tempted to page through all the old magazines I have to see if I could find it again. Maybe I should check old tax booklets that contain pics of missing children instead.

        • PGCPrepper says:

Seems we should have another letter writing campaign. Never want to sound like a bizarre, prepper conspiracy theorists but this is crazy and scary. See the pic I posted above under RiverRider.

        • You did. If it’s the girl in the red and white dress… she posed with Obamma. Funny though… she was supposed to be one of the girls that was shot. When I get to my home computer I’ll post up a link to a youtube video that will really make you wonder and it also shows the pics Im talking about.

    • Alittle2late says:

Wait a minute, I spent a lot of money so my 7300lb pick up truck will do 0-6 in 6 seconds and top out at 156mph! leave that one out of it. 874 hp/1400ftlb of torque! And it still gets 21 mpg. Put that in your prius and smoke it. last part not meant for you RR, just get excited when I talk about my toys. we can ban everything else though.:) But seriously this shit isn’t a joke anymore.

    • Now you know common sense isn’t all that common among politicians.

  8. Learn about Jury nullification. Jury nullification occurs when juries acquit criminal defendants who are technically guilty, but who do not deserve punishment. It occurs in a trial when a jury reaches a verdict contrary to the judge’s instructions as to the law.

    • riverrider says:

nullification is also a right of the states under an amendment, can’t recall the number now, that says the states can decide not to follow a law it deems contrary to their constitution.

      • HomINsteader says:

Unfortunately, rr, there’s also a law on the fed books that federal law always supersedes state. So, seems to me states would BE FORCED to nullify any law they’re going to refuse to comply with, or give in to the fed.

  9. If NY goes thru with this… it will be the start of the next American Revolution. To my knowledge no semi auto pistol holds less than 7 rounds in the mag. I think even the 45’s hold at least 8. So now the folks in NY will be down to revolvers again… just like the old west.

  10. Tactical G-Ma says:

    I need help.
Will / Can a steel storage shed if floored with sheet metal, be used as a faraday cage? And it will be grounded!

    • I think it can , but i `m not 100 % sure. Cowboy

    • Alittle2late says:

I wish I could give you an answer, I’ve got nada on that one. sorry

    • Thomas T. Tinker says:

T-ma….. all panels must be bonded to each other.. think foil tape on walls etc. Roof bonded to walls, floor bonded to walls, doors bonded to walls, the works grounded to mother earth. I’d use 4-8′ grounding rods and bond the shack to them in an unbroken loop. But a good single rod would probly do if the ground conductor is heavy enough and run away from the shed and cad welded to it in a good ground crock. The average lighting bolt runs at 15 giga volts. Might wanna add an arrester to the puppy as well. Then there is the problem of having any…. thing you don’t want cooked isolated from any…grounded surface. Damp, oil, wd-40, bore cleaner, alot o goffey things conduct at the kinds of voltages you are ‘protecting’ aginst…. an old dribble of dirty orange juice that runs down the leg of that wooden table or pallet. 15 giga volts will go to ground… and it will also go to ground via any route that gets it there be it a 500 MCM copper conductor or a trail of metal filing or chips stuck in that old orange juice. In 37 years of heavy industrial electrical construction I have seen high voltage do…. any damm thing it wants to. WAR STORY ALERT…… 15KV running up the stream of contact cleaner via a ground buss in a grounded cabinet. Blown out shoulder, no right foot and no right hand (Davis Besse NGF 1980)… 69KV cable with NO connections run through a steel frame window out into the snow and mud and held up to the outside casing of a 125KV transformer under load…… corona induction from the termination hatch shorted down the ground wire molded into the cable and went to ground on the window frame. The two men holding the cable lite off like camping matchs, the smelting plant got really quiet (Chase Brass smelting, Mount Pelier Ohio) Who knows what an EMP will do…. or not. Gawd I love to tell a story… Don’t ya hate a long answer… its a guy thing so says my DW

      • HomINsteader says:

TTT: I can’t answer for T G-Ma, but, I don’t hate a long answer…not when it’s really good! Thank you for sharing all this info; you’re a plethora of useful knowledge, Dude!

    • riverrider says:

why worry about it, who ya gonna talk to anyway?

    • MountainSurvivor says:

You must ground the metal especially if you are going to be walking on it. Lightning would love it if your feet were wet and you touch the metal walls or you step onto the metal floor. But, if you want to use the shed to gain notoriety and go viral, you could always set up a camera and record how bright and bony your innerds look when a good bolt runs through you.

      • Tactical G-Ma says:

Yesterday on fox news a scientist showed a recent solar flare of low magnitude. But he also showed how the internal activity of the sun is escalating indicating that a big event is eminent. I want to shield my portable generator, radios, and various, servo mechanical and electronic equipment. I saw on YouTube how a guy turned a metal cabinet into faraday cage with metal backed brick wall sheeting and metal tape. I know all this is theoretical. But I feel I should do something to try to save a few things. DH wears an insulin pump and I want to shield his back-up too. Living without electricity is no big deal but some things will make living easier.

        • Tactical G-Ma says:

          TTT, MS and RR,
I want to add thank you. Your remarks along with the discussion a few days ago has me motivated to take action now.

        • g-ma, someone mentioned using an old microwave for shielding. Shielding a back up insulin pump would be a really important worry.

      • Thomas T. Tinker says:

MountainS…… That.. would be cool vid. surf around for ‘copper thieves’ stupid ones.

  11. Obama owns the debt now

The debt is up about 60% since Obama took office. Pay close attention to the chart around 2007. When the Democrats gained control of both the House and the Senate.

Is everything else smoke and mirrors to distract from the real disaster coming at us? Food for thought.

  12. I guess we’ll have to wait until Weds to find out what these 19 ideas are.

NY. Guess it’s time to vote with your feet.

  13. The Last American says:

This will be my last post here, or anywhere else. In a very famous sermon a Pastor in 1750 said that “Resistance to tyranny is obedience to God”. This sermon was one of the matches which lite the American Revolution.

As a Seminary trained former Pastor, believe me when I say that it is clear that as Christians we are not to take offensive action to gain our goals. It is also clear that Governments are put in place by God for our benefit.
However, when a Government acts as a Tyrant, it is our Christian Duty to resist it and defend any and all who would be harmed by said Government.

I write this because tomorrow the course of this Nation will be altered. Some are ready, and even looking for a fight. Other’s are willing to go along with some changes to our laws, if done in a lawful manner.
No matter what happens, I call upon all the Faithful in Christ to remember, that defense is Biblical, offense is not.

I and my family have sold all of our semi-automatic firearms. We did this as an act of good faith. However, we will not be disarmed further, as a is needed to defend against the “wolves” of this fallen world.

God bless you all, good bye

    • The Last American,

You sold your all of your semi-automatic firearms in an act of good faith? Don’t worry they will be coming after your handguns next, then your pump and lever actions, then those assault bolt action “sniper rifles” then those single shot break-open shotguns. Then the long Knives… they will never stop, until all you or I have is politically correct words.

      • I will keep on posting.I am not going to let some Kenyan interloper take my rights in the bill of rights and goverment limits in the constitution.

    • Rider of Rohan says:

I’m pretty sure that someone who would sell all their semi-auto firearms right now when they are perfectly legal to own won’t have the courage to keep their lever action and revolvers when those become illegal later. Just saying.

    • Mystery Guest says:

Well seems this was a good move on OPSEC.
      Hope you do well.

    • riverrider says:

god go with you. i’ll be obeying god in the other direction. pass the ammo.

    • HomINsteader says:

“We are not to take offensive action to attain our goals” – if you’re talking about YOUR goals, you might be right. You’d probably fail. If you’re talking about fulfilling the Will of Holy G-d, I don’t know which Bible you’re reading, but the one I read very clearly indicates that Holy G-d does, in fact, REQUIRE “offensive action” as a faith act from His people. Examples? How many times did He instruct one or more of His children to kill another human being? He saw the big picture, He knew the end game, and He knew removing them from the equation WAS the game changer. There were times when He even instructed that men, women, and children be killed; He knew exactly what He was doing every time, and He still does. Not taking “offensive action” may be an act of disobedience. Read your Bible, and forget what the talking heads told you in seminary.

You seem to want to prove your credentials because you’ve been to Seminary; I say that could be your problem. Stop listening to what you learned in Seminary and listen to the Word of Holy G-d, straight from the Bible (a good source, preferably, such as the King James Version).

Many things have been wrongly taught in seminaries, my friend.

We must be very careful what we teach. The last warning in the Book of Revelation is that if we add to or take away one word from His Word (if we change His message in any way), we are in danger of having our names removed from the Lamb’s Book of Life.

  14. Alittle2late says:

Theres a feed on utube about this one of the girls that was “killed” is sitting on TDL’s lap an hour later. OOPS?

  15. HomeINsteader says:

Here’s a little smile for you today: T G-MA – are you in this?!!! Naw…you would have shot the (um-hum), I do believe. I do believe I would have, as well. Who knows?!

Thief pulls knife; Grandmother pulls gun
By GOPUSA Staff January 15, 2013

Of course, error # 1 was that she hesitated. Error # 2 was that he got away, free an clear – he’ll be back – with a bigger gun – and then the libtards will have a field day on gun control – again.

But it still made me smile. How about you?

    • Tactical G-Ma says:

      Just shows to go ya!

I have been in similar situations a couple times but have not had to pull the trigger. Not because I froze but usually when faced with an insane woman holding a firearm they usually crap their pants or flee.

  16. Alittle2late says:

Anyone else got knots in their stomach? Something bad is going to happen soon……

    • Yes I do. Since NY fired the first shot, it’s probably only a matter of time now.

    • Mystery Guest says:

I have had knots till my knots have knots.
My nerves has been on edge for over a year now.
I don’t know but bad I don’t think covers it.

  17. Man who helped Sandy Hook kids is harassed by conspiracy theorists

Talk about a slap in the face to vets… Wal-Mart pledges to hire thousands of veterans and buy more US products over the next decade. Funny how this story comes out the day after they decided to not support the United States Constitution and the 2nd Amendment. I hope the vets tell them to go screw themselves.

    • SW,

Last I read walmart says that that the reports of no ammo and guns orders for their stores is false…

      • The article that I read had several commenters at the bottom that said they checked and got the same news. While I guess it’s possible that several folks decided to tell a lie, I’m inclined to take their word for it over a company that could possibly be trying to do damage control.

      • riverrider says:

they’re full of crap. and these “vets” will have to have just left service. i’m not eligible, not that i’d work for them anyway.

      • I picked up 200 rounds of thunderbolt 22 lr this morning. They were nor there yesterday and they had none in the back.I thought that I would stock up a bit for my son.

        • riverrider says:

axel, my gunshop lady said she tried to order 22lr, they gave her a price of 19.95, per 50!

  18. Obama limo to bear ‘taxation without representation’ plates

For some reason I think he’s got it mixed up. It’s the little people that don’t get representation. As for DC… maybe part should be in VA and part should be in MD instead of trying to make a 51st state.

    • riverrider says:

no let them have northern va and form their own country. they are in their own world already. see how long they survive without us.

MD, not sure where this should be posted (?) please help me and post it appropriately. Thanks, God Bless the USA.

This is not fictional drama … it’s historical fact.

Be sure to watch to the end and read the historical marker for yourself … it’s fascinating. …but disturbing.

It actually happened in Tennessee .

They, the media keep telling us we “don’t need” semi auto firearms or magazines that hold more than 5 or 10 rounds. The movie will show you just one reason. What good is the rest of the constitution without the 2nd amendment?

Little Known History – Athens , Tennessee 1946

This film may explain why Obama’s Department of Homeland Security put out a bulletin classifying “returning veterans,” “gun rights advocates,” and “people who carry copies of the Constitution” as a domestic terror threat.

” An armed man is a citizen – A disarmed man is a subject.”

Many are completely unaware of this event that took place in Athens , TN in 1946. I did not know an armed revolt on American soil by WWII veterans ever took place during our lifetime. A very sobering video to say the least.

Now the second amendment should be a little clearer to everyone.
This short video is well worth the time.

Please do not delete this bit of US History of which many Americans have no knowledge. View it, share it and pray that we will never again need such a response to government!

    • Alittle2late says:

Thank you for sharing this, I wasn’t aware of that.

    • HomINsteader says:

Excellent! Thank you for sharing; I have shared it from your share.

Any future conflicts, unfortunately, won’t be so “easily” resolved, due to differences in available technologies – unless, of course, Holy G-d intervenes and makes those technologies “worthless”, which He could do by His own breath, if He so chooses!

    • riverrider says:

if i’m not mistaken the gov did it twice, once after they flipflopped on promises after ww1, the vets marched, unarmed on washington and were met with machineguns. also broke a coal mine strike by bombing the families camped out in a field with aircraft and straffing them with mg fire. of course they messed up the next time the miners went on strike, the miners mowed the pinkerton mercenaries down on the courthouse steps. sheriff said it looked like a clearcut case of mass suicide to him:) sic semper tyrannus. si vi pacem, para bellum.

NDAA 2013: Congress approves domestic deceptive propaganda

  24. As I sit here looking thru the web a song pops into my head. Considering what NY did and what DC is talking about doing… I’d say it’s pretty fitting for any sort of resistance that might decide to spring up.

I wake up in the mornin’
And I raise my weary head
I got an old coat for a pillow
And the earth was last night’s bed
    I don’t know where I’m goin’
Only God knows where I’ve been
I’m a devil on the run
    A six gun lover
A candle in the wind, yeah

    You’re brought into this world
But they say you’re born in sin
Well at least they’ve given me something
I didn’t have to steal or have to win
Well, they tell me that I’m wanted
    Yeah I’m a wanted man
    I’m colt in your stable
I’m what Cain was to Able
Mister catch me if you can

I’m goin’ down in a blaze of glory
Take me now but know the truth
I’m goin’ down in a blaze of glory
    Lord I never drew first
    But I drew first blood
    I’m no one’s son
    Call me young gun

    You ask about my conscience
And I offer you my soul
You ask if I’ll grow to be a wise man
Well I ask if I’ll grow old
You ask me if I known love
And what it’s like to sing songs in the rain?
    [- From: http://www.elyrics.net -]
    Well, I’ve seen love come
    I’ve seen it shot down
I’ve seen it die in vain

Shot down in a blaze of glory
Take me now but know the truth
But I’m going down in a blaze of glory
    Lord, I never drew first
    But I drew first blood
    I’m a devil’s son
    Call me young gun

Each night I go to bed
I pray the Lord my soul to keep
No, I ain’t lookin’ for forgiveness
But before I’m six foot deep
Lord, I got to ask a favor
    And I’ll hope you’ll understand
‘Cause I’ve lived life to the fullest
Let this boy die like a man
    Starin’ down the bullet
Let me make my final stand

Shot down in a blaze of glory
Take me now but know the truth
I’m going down in a blaze of glory
    Lord, I never drew first
    But, I drew first blood
    I’m no one’s son
    Call me young gun
