This guy got lucky : “Authorities give 41 guns and 100,000 rounds of ammunition BACK to militia member after he is cleared of conspiring to overthrow government. The Hutaree militia members say they oppose government power, but never planned violent action.”

25 Signs The Collapse Of America Is Speeding Up As Society Rots From The Inside Out : “The problems that America is experiencing right now are not just confined to the field of economics.  The truth is that there are signs of deep decay wherever we look, and without question the United States is rotting from the inside out in thousands of different ways.”

Will There Ever Be Enough Jobs In America Again : No! Our politicians have loaded the system with plenty of incentives NOT to hire workers.

Are we safe from the sun? Solar flares keep on getting stronger – with latest hotspot the size of 15 Earths strung together : “Solar activity runs in 11-year cycles, with the current one peaking in 2013, so more violent space weather is on the horizon. Dr Matthew Penn, of the National Solar Observatory in Arizona, said recently: ‘Because the sun is becoming more active, it will have an impact on millions of people. Sunspots can cause the biggest and most damaging space storms that occur. ‘During the next two years, we are expecting the number of sunspots visible on the sun to reach a maximum. We know that sunspots are the source of a lot of space weather and solar storms, so we expect a larger number of solar storms here at the Earth.” Thanks to Gwen C for sending me the link.

Police tape application : Citizens can hold police accountable in the palms of their hands with “Police Tape,” a smartphone application from the ACLU of New Jersey that allows people to securely and discreetly record and store interactions with police, as well as provide legal information about citizens’ rights when interacting with the police.

NYPD Flyer Warns Cops About ‘Professional Agitators’ Armed With Cameras : If these “public servants” are doing their jobs and have nothing to hide, (like pepper spraying great-grandmothers) then why do they not want to be video taped? After all don’t most police cars have onboard cameras to collect evidence and protect the officer?

Cops Shoot Dog During Foot Chase; Petition Started for “Justice for Monkey” :  That the dog was shot multiple times after it “barked” at police. Folks anyone shooting my dog would be to me, like them shooting my child, and I would react accordingly. Nuff said.

wow, lots of good articles today….that guy is truly lucky getting his guns back. i have read many articles stating that even though the suspect was cleared the feds refused to give back the guns. most times you have to sue them….with you on the dog. the dog, besides being a member of the family, is a part of our defense. so take out part of my defense tells me you want to do harm to me. like a guy grabbing a cops gun, they have to assume the guy means bodily harm and act as such……never figured out why cops are so intimidated about filming. i recorded everything on a mini tape recorded way back when. worse, why are they so unaware of court decisions that clearly uphold the legality of the filming and other decisions affecting their jobs as well? youtube is full of uninformed cops making poor decisions based on their ignorance of the laws. poor training?

  2. JP in MT says:

The agitation of police about being filmed does have me thinking about what they have to hide. If their actions are justified, why hide?

    • Yep, they are supposed to be public servants…

      • Well from an LE point of view, if you say one cuss word to someone attacking you, and it is recorded, it is an easy suspension day for you! There is an unequal process with that! It’s not about hiding the truth, it’s about public perception of events.a recording can be manipulated by tHe media at any time.
As for the dog, I have been attacked by an aggressive pit bull before bad was forced to shoot it in self defense. Would you have shot me? That is bull shit. Tell my wife I was killed for shooting a dog i felt was going to attack me. I love my dog, but to shoot a cop over a dog?! C’mon md you know that is a garbage thing to post!!
There are a lot of anti law enforcement post on here today! Go look on the YouTube for the FULL occupy police incident in California I think? Where the cops pepper spray the harmless ring of students. Watch as theses “harmless” turds say they aren’t going to let the police leave and make threats to them repeatedly. Remember, there is always another side to the story the media try’s to SELL to the public as they only care about making money.
I have been following your blog faithfully for about 8 months now and even submitted an article about an incident that changed my life to you to hopefully help someone else. I am seriously considering never returning after insensitive post and comments like today.

        • I will say that yes you shoot my dog for barking at you, yeah there is a darn good chance I would shoot you. If you are going to be a cop then you might want to consider that a dog barking at you if you are in his area of sight might just go with the job. Out of respect for MD I have self edited my post as to how I would really love to respond to you. And if you would stop following this blog over what you perceive as negative LE posts then you sir, are very thin skinned and a fool .

        • Cole,

Please don’t let the door hit you in the rear on the way out. Btw, I never said anything about shooting anyone. I said that I would respond the same as if the sorry SOB had shot my child. How you take it is up to you.

I could understand shooting a dog that was actually attacking; I would shoot it to, but to shoot a dog multiple times for barking. Well that is BS. Have they (cops) ever heard of pepperspray, would that not be a better deterrent for a barking dog than opening fire?

          From” http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/04/27/cop-shoots-dog-puppycide_n_1446841.html

“In recent years, police officers have shot and killed chihuahuas, miniature dachshunds, Wheaton terriers, and Jack Russell terriers. Last month, a California police officer shot and killed a boxer puppy and pregnant chihuahua, claiming the boxer had threatened him. The chihuahua, he said, got caught in the crossfire. When a San Bernardino, Calif., woman called police to report a burglary in progress behind her house last month, they responded, jumped her fence to confront the burglars, then shot her dalmatian mix, Julio. He survived. Police officers have also recently shot dogs that were chained, tied, or leashed — obviously posing no real threat to officers who killed them.

I suppose you would also defend your “brother officers” for shooting and killing this 5 pound Chihuahua mix?

          http://www.inquisitr.com/25649/police-shoot-dead-a-chihuahua-but-only-after-tasing-it-first/

or how about this angry Chihuahua?

          http://www.policemag.com/Channel/Women-in-Law-Enforcement/news/2011/04/05/Missouri-Deputy-Resigns-After-Shooting-Chihuahua.aspx

I would bet if a “citizen” shot and killed a police K9 officers dog in the event that the dog had mistaken that “citizen” for the suspect and attacked, then that “citizen” be arrested and charged if not shot by the police on the scene.

By the way, I’m friends with the local Police Chief (have been for the better part of 25 years) and he has never shot a dog for barking or for anything else. This despite over 20 years of service in a rural country setting where everyone has a dog. A blast of pepper spray has always worked for him. Firing your duty sidearm should be an option of last resort, period. Stray bullets flying through the air (most cops can’t hit the broad-side of a barn) is not a desirable thing no matter how you look at it. Especially when the target is as small and hard to hit like say a 5 pound Chihuahua…

            +1

            • Well maybe you should explain more on what you meant by the whole” anyone who shoots my dog would be treated like some one who shot your child” quote. it is easy to interpret as I did.
and yes, cops do get it wrong sometimes. I never said they don’t. Just google cop injured by dog. There are many more results than cop shoots chihuahua. Unfortunately, we don’t have the time to wait and see if a dog is coming to play or attack. Also, maybe you should look at the number of urban dog attacks. This year we had a postal carrier almost killed by someone’s family pet pitbull who would have most likely lost their life if not for a police officer shooting the dog. In the country most dogs are not trained fighters as many are in urban environments.
Md you are a very intelligent and Articulate writer. I just see this article as totally off base to your normal words of advice.
I have also seen numerous aggressive dog oc(better than pepper) sprayed. Dogs just shake it off and keep coming. If it comes down to going home with the same number of holes I went to work with, you need to believe I will protect myself. As should everyone.
Lastly, just remember, There is always another side to a story than the media plays out. just remember a couple months back. Trayvon Martin was a great kid in the media. It was cold blooded murder of a nice teenage boy. But once more evidence came out, it was a completely different story for most people. Maybe the family says monkey only barked? I know my dog would charge and bark as well as pursue someone in her yard. Wouldnt yours?

            • JP in MT says:

              Cole:

I think the ”anyone who shoots my dog would be treated like some one who shot your child” quote, pretty well sums if up. If you are a LEO up here, you had better know how to handle peoples dogs. Yep, they can be annoying, and sometimes aggressive, but then that’s why we get them for the most part.

Even up here where our Sheriff’s Dept is pretty small, we get ones that feel that the badge makes them exempt from the laws they are supposed to enforce (like out no talking on the cell phone while driving without a hands-free device law). It’s hard to respect someone who doesn’t respect the people he/she works for.

Thanks for posting these links.. I read most of them each time. I don’t usually take time to “troll” and look on my own, for such articles…It just eats up too much time.
I was amazed that once cleared this gentleman received his own weapons back. I figured they were just gone.
If someone shoots my dog, It would be a personal attack- He is essentially our youngest child. If you don’t believe me, just tell him to “find Daddy”..
Society rots when “GOD” is removed from the schools and that society and when ‘big bang’ is put in the place of creation. When man believes he is only an animal-he then behaves just like one. To Get our country on the right track,…. teach your children and grandchildren, neices and nephews that they are a special creation of God. Teach them about the foundation of our country (or yours ,if in another one).Tell them the principles that the country was founded on…read and study the foundation documents and be an active citizen…register and vote…in all elections. Show those precious children what a citizen’s responsibility is, by doing first, and answering questions with knowledge. Go pick up garbage off the roadside, earn money by recycling then put that money to work for a designated purpose.(buying items for gifting the needy) The people who have something to hide, never want to be caught doing it…HU-M_M_M. …So…, why would the police not want to be filmed? one has NO idea.
I read an article a week or so back…the UN is trying to “do away” with the “made in USA” logo…. now why would that be? I guess we will have to go to the ones that name specific states….at least that will give us some time for them to decide we are still buying USA products. I saw a sticker, the other day that said, “made in Mississippi”…and yes! I got that one!
That article was real inspiring, made me know that others are not buying the china made stuff as much, too. I bought some undergarments
(about 4 years ago) that were supposed to be my size. My DH asked why they didn’t fit…I looked at the label and told him the chinese were not as endowed as we were….or it would have been sized properly.’Ever since, I have been more careful about the originating data on all items.
Hey, just a shout out…watch the food/fruit/canned… that is in the markdown stores, I’m seeing more of it on the shelves here. AND It doesn’t taste good..I don’t know if it is the variety of tree they are planting, the soil, or the poison in the soil. Just don’t buy it thinking you are getting a good product until you have tested it,( or not)…justmy2c.

  4. For what it’s worth,

I will offer another angle on the filming of police. Your right, it’s legal and if done properly the police should not have a problem with it. But with everything in life there is always two sides to every coin.

Officers do record a lot of their contacts with citizens, from start to finish. Most of the recordings you see done by others only caption a portion of the contact and can easily be taken out of context. Officers have lost their jobs by only recording a “portion” of their contact to make themselves look better.

How you can use your video also differs. The citizen’s can be used immediately and in whatever edited context they want. The officers is evidence and can only be used as such. This is why you only see one side of the stories video for some time as we all know how long legal proceedings can play out.

Lastly, some officers react out of the “Officer Safety” theory. Some push this way too far and others have legitimate concerns. If you are not involved in the incident and approach to film it you may have perfectly innocent/legitimate reasons to do so. However please keep in mind that the officer does not know you or why you are there. You also might not know the context of the contact the officer is having that might require him to percieve you as a threat. There have been plenty of incidents where not so good folks have called their family and friends to respond to a scene without good intentions.

In most circumstances an officer should not have a problem being filmed if it is done properly. To get a better perspective if you are interested I would suggest contacting your local agency to see if they allow ride-alongs or have a Citizen’s Academy you can attend. Filter this knowledge also as the department will put their “best foot forward” to show themselves in the best possible light.

  5. Concerning the collapse of America. Our pastor Sunday gave us a comparison of what is happening today compared to the Fall of the Roman Empire.
    1. The rapid increase of divorce; the undermining of dignity and sanctity of the home, which is the basis of human society.
    2. Higher and higher taxes and teh spending of public money for free bread and circuses for the populace.
    3. the mad craze for pleasures; sports becoming every year more exciting and more brutal.
    4. The building of gigantic armaments when the real enemy was within: the decadence of the people.
    5. The decay of religion.
Some of these are an awful lot like today.
    Keep the Faith.

Deflation In China, comment #14, yikes is that convincing. One can make numbers to appear to support most any argument, but right now there are few numbers that support the side that says ” all will be fine”. Just sayin’

About cops shooting pets, ugh. Cops have to deal with a lot of sh*t, my heart goes out to them just like all the military. There are always going to be a bad element in any group. These stories are heart wrenching, since my dogs are more than pets, they go everywhere with me and are treated like children. I hope the LE involved can find it in their hearts to apologize if they truly made the wrong decision.
