After 37 years my mother still hangs a Christmas stocking with my name on it, it’s been a tradition for so long that it wouldn’t feel like Christmas without that big red stocking on the wall.
When I was a child that stocking was my favorite thing about Christmas ( still is) we never had anything in the way of gifts under a tree, but our stockings were always stuffed
.
The gifts were never fancy or expensive, no iPods, cell phones
or other fancy electronic gizmos kids expect today, the usual was a bag of green plastic army men
or cowboys and Indians
and maybe a couple Hot Wheels
, but the one constant was always a huge bag of butterscotch
.
As we get older gift giving becomes more complicated and usually more expensive. Our family rule now is to not to spend over $20 on any gift, with everyone in my family making an effort to stuff mine with gifts related to emergency preparedness or the outdoors.
I thought this would be a fun question to open up here on the blog – what emergency preparedness related stocking stuffers would you like to receive this Holiday season?
The definition of a stocking stuffer for the purpose of this discussion, is it should be something relatively small, and costing around $20 or so.
There you have it – what emergency preparedness related items would you like to have in your stocking Christmas morning?
