But what is the root cause of the threats we now face? Thank about it, in 1850 the human population grew to one billion. Eighty years later in 1930 it doubled to two billion, then in 1975 it doubled again to four billion, in 1993 it topped six billion, now in 2009 it has reached nearly seven billion. According to reports the world’s population is expected to reach about 9 + billion by the year 2040.
Over 11 million adults in the U.S. are illiterate . A child who can read and does well in school will be labeled a nerd and ridiculed by others who are too lazy or stupid to learn basic reading and math skills. It is “cool” to be dumb. And it seems like this trend is getting worse as time goes on.
Before the advent of modern civilization, very few of the unfit could survive long enough to reproduce. Man lived in a state of nature; qualities of strength and intelligence were necessary for survival.
Primitive man relied upon muscle, both animal and human for his existence. Now oil supports life. Everything sustaining our modern civilization relies on the cheap availability of oil. Oil has made life easy. It has allowed a surplus population of inferiors to thrive.
It has modified the process of natural selection and survival. We can now grow more food, produce more goods and extend the life span of the population and cater to the needs and welfare of the inferior.
Modern civilization has enabled many weak, stupid, and degenerate persons to live and have children, which in turn repeat the process, increasing the numbers of the inferior with each passing generation.
The inferior thrive and multiply while the superior decrease in number leaving every seceding generation worse off and dumber then before. How long will it be before we fall back to the lower levels of barbarism or even savagery?
The world population has been growing continuously since the end of the Black Death around 1400. At some point, (many think we already have) we will outgrow the carrying capacity of out resources and habitat. We have become a plague on the earth consuming with no regard for tomorrow or for future generations.
One common misconception is that overpopulation means an increasing number of people or density of the population, while this is true in many regards, an area can in reality become overpopulated with very few individuals residing in the area. If a town has one hundred persons and can only produce enough food, water and shelter for seventy five, without outside help or imports then that area is essentially overpopulated.
The root cause of most of the worlds problems and ineluctable collapse is overpopulation. There are to many people and not enough recourses to sustain the ever growing numbers. Fortunately nature has ways of dealing with and correcting such inconsistence, unfortunately mass die offs are the usual result of this corrective process.
What do you think – have we out breed the earths carrying capacity, or can it sustain a few billion more?
