Around this time of year the local Wal-Mart starts displaying products for spring and summer sales, such as mulch, compost, topsoil, fertilizers and riding mowers. Although I usually buy my gardening products from the local hardware store, I decided to stop by the Wally world to see if they had anything interesting on the shelf.
After driving around the parking lot for what seemed like 10 minutes, I finally found a parking place beside one of those shopping cart corrals. After getting out and locking my doors, I started walking toward the front entrance of the store, when some nut nearly runs me over with a shopping cart, as he rides it down the parking-lot like a skateboard.
What really ticked me off wasn’t being nearly wiped out by the cart, but that this guy was a grown man with a wife and two kids following behind. I mean, come on, grow up already. This guy needs to spend more time being a father and setting an example for his children, not acting like some ill mannered teenager.
After being nearly ran over, I noticed a child sitting in the middle of the parking lot screaming and crying at the top of his lungs while his mother stood about 5 feet away talking to a man. I have to admit wanting to walk over and slap the crap out of her. I mean hey, if you’re going to be flirting with a man at least have enough sense to put your child in the car away from danger.
I finally made my way into the store and over to the lawn and garden department. As I walked around the area trying to decide if there was anything I needed, several employees walked by – not one asked if I needed help or showed any kind of courtesy.
After looking around for several minutes, I made my way to the sporting goods department, where I picked up a bottle of Hoppes number 9, Remington oil
and one of the Winchester 555 round boxes of .22LR ammo and headed toward the checkout counter.
The lines were backed up with only four or five counters open for checkout. I got in line and waited. I’d been waiting maybe two minutes when some skanky looking 40 something blond got in line behind me. She looked like she’d been on a crack binge for several days, with her hair uncombed and clothes that had obviously been worn several days without washing.
And the worst part, she insisted on standing as close behind me as possible – so close that I could feel her stinking breath on the back of my neck. Why stand so close when you have the whole store open behind you? Apparently; she thought by pushing me, she could speed up the checkout process.
Making matters worse the clerk didn’t even say “thank you for shopping at Wal-Mart” after totaling my items and receiving payment. And that’s why I hate shopping at Wal-Mart – how about you? ![]()

I can't stand the place for the same reasons. However, I still go. Probably for the same reasons you do.
What if Wal-Mart corporate blocked off one day a week for "normal" folks? The greeters could be like bouncers and keep the knuckle heads out.
They would have to open more lines though. Even in a good Wal-Mart experience I think I stand in line waaaaay too long.
I refuse to shop at China Mart. I'll pay the extra at Mom & Pop stores. Or use on line service. Plus if you google for shit made in America you can find American made products.
See Ya
Wal-Mart has some of the all time laziest employees. At most of thier stores, you can never find what you need.
I only go at night after 11PM.
Meh.. I guess all walmarts are not the same. Ours out here is pretty much ALL we have for shopping, and yeah, there are some scary freak-show types in there but I rarely pay enough attention to them (other than watching my surroundings) to let them bother me. For the most part our walmart here is pretty darn good.
I try not to let the actions of others bother me. I have learned to ignore the sheeple.
Those that dont want to shop at "China Mart" go ahead.. pay higher prices like a dummy, me I will pay lower prices and ignore the sub humans.
I actually prefer minimal staff interaction. From what I've been related about wallmart, this would apply to their employees as much as anywhere else.
That post was hilarious, MD.
Okay, while Wal-Mart may suck to shop it, it's a symbol of true Capitalism. Why do you think the Feds are always trying to regulate it? Defend Wal-Mart. Granted, skanks like the place, but that's because it's dirt cheap.
We have 3 Wal-Marts that are all 20 min. from our house. At one of them, if you speak English you look out of place. At the other 2, they actually have horse and buggy parking, so they are much more rural and laid back. I guess it all depends on where you live.
While the concept of supporting the "mom and pop" store sounds nice, it's actually kind of a misnomer. All the people who work at Wal-Mart live in the area, and so by shopping there you are providing them with jobs, and that money stays in the area. Obviously the service there is horrible, but I justify it by saving money that can then be spent on other things.
Never did I think I would read a long whine from you M.D.
We all have bad days.
How was this one any worse than some of the others that prompted you to post that drivel?
You are a "prepper", a self sufficient individual who has trained himself to "roll with the punches" life throws at you.
You expect no quarter and give none, why in the world would you allow something so trivial as modern societies lack of manners to get under your skin so deep that you felt the need to post it?
We ALL deal with people like those you have described and are more the greatful for those we deal with on your site and others.
We come HERE to deal with people like you, people with manners and an understanding that there are good people out there.
Those that you dealt with in the store do not visit your site, so you changed nothing by posting that, and those who visit your site feel the same as you, so again, nothing changes.
Buck up little prepper, life is good!
Sorry, should have said "rant" rather than "whine".
Jerry
That's all it takes to get your dander up? You obviously lead a very good life. You might try counting your blessings instead of getting twisted up by the petty things in life.
I NEVER shop at WalMart. Not only is it a virtual human catch basin, but I refuse to support a store that abuses its employees (however lame they may be), destroys Mom-and-Pop businesses, and imports ENORMOUS quantities of Chinese crap. To me, WalMart is like a corporate embodiment of a Congressman.
Wal-Mart is the biggest offender, in my area, at marking prices at point of purchase and charging a slightly higher price at the check out.
What them like a hawk!
Unfortunately, there are not many "mom and pop" stores left in the U.S. If you're not shopping at ChinaMart, your only other options are other chain stores. The only place to buy ammo at a reasonable price is ChinaMart, all the other chain sporting goods stores and local gun stores are at least 25% more expensive for guns and ammo. Even guns and ammo at the gun shows are more expensive than at the ChinaMart. I don't want to shop there, but there aren't a lot of other options. I have to save money where I can and just use the other shoppers and scumbags as object lessons on life.
I avoid this place at all costs. I shop at several different places to get the things that I need, and am quite good at maximizing my dollars, so I certainly don't consider myself a dummy for not shopping at this madhouse.
I live close to the city, and the closest Wally World is on the bus route. So there is a hoard of scumbags in this place on a regular basis. The only reason I could think of going there is to give my daughter a lesson in societal dysfunction. Then she would have a better understanding of why it's important for her to do good in school.
Dean in Mich…….
We have a Target across the street from Wal-Mart. The prices are only slightly higher, the selection a little less, and the customer a damn sight better. So I shop there.
Always go first thing in the morning, never on weekend afternoons or holidays. Ignore the subs, move fast, get the h*** out…
I haven't shopped there for many, many years.
Jerry,
"You are a "prepper", a self sufficient individual who has trained himself to "roll with the punches" life throws at you." Why would you let something as trivial as a blog post get under your skin? LOL.
We have a good walmart here, but I still avoid it as much as possible.
Supporting local business is not a misnomer, Walmart conducts $10K-$100K plus in business per day per location – they aren't hurting for business.
Besides, say everyone does stop shopping at Walmart. Yes, the people who work at your Walmart will be layed off – but the great thing is it gives small local businesses the opportunity to rebuild to meet customer demand and the ex-Walmart employees get their jobs back in a better environment.
The places that are hurting are the local mom and pops who barely have enough business to get by because everyone shops at Walmart. A small slice of loyal customers can really make a difference for these people and everyone else including those that shop at Walmart enjoy the benefit of having a little variety in their community.
I got a shirt there once- it fell apart in the wash the first time. Their produce rots the first day home. The store is so big the employees only know where a few things are; that's why they avoid customers like that. They have very few full time employees because then they'd have to give benefits. It is the dregs of shopping options. Any money we'd save there is negated when you have to buy a replacement when something cheap falls apart. It's not the same as buying at a mom and pop because the people that work there are barely getting any pay. I just can't go. I enjoy your writing.

Why I hate shopping at Wal-Mart…
http://www.peopleofwalmart.com/
Just for fun, go to peopleofwalmart.com This site has great pictures of the Walmart sheeple freaks. It is awsome.
Wal-Mart is great! Not only is it a very demonstrative example of what the future holds, much like our current President it is exactly what this country needs and deserves right now.
Gotta say I agree with you M.D.
Been in a Wal-Mart a few times…Total SHIT-PORIUM! Poor quality chineese crap left and right, Crack Heads racing around inside the store with shopping carts.
Randy So. CA
To overcome the feeling of treason when going into a walmart, just don't buy anything that isn't made or grown in the US. The problem is that sometimes it's hard to know.
Right now they have 20 cent, up from 10 cents two years ago, small heirloom seed packs that are just right when you don't need a lot of a certain variety. I spent $2 in the self checkout and came away satisfied.
Kenny in mid TN
I occasionally go to China Mart b/c many local merchants charge too much for the exact same product. I never drive around looking for a parking space though, I just park my truck out in BFE and walk.
I'll pay up to 10% more to a local merchant (real mom and pop stores rare here), but often they'll charge more than that. Ammo, for example. Closest gun shop is usually about 25% higher for .22 LR. Same stuff, made in America, but a lot more. And that gun shop isn't hurting for business, they're just gouging. Same thing with Safeway – why pay $4.25 for a box of cereal when China Mart has the exact same thing for $3.00? But usually I just go to the commissary and bypass all that.
Wal-Marts are not all equal. Those in the mid-west and plains states are much, much nicer. In the northern Virginia/DC area, they are for the most part ghetto. Most employees don't know about products so I wouldn't want them asking to help me. They can help me locate an item, but I'm probably not going to ask their advice for product comparison.
Over Christmas I was home in Nebraska and shopped at a China Mart. The checker (in her late 50s) saw my military ID (reserve) in my wallet, thanked me for my service, and got a little choked up, saying her father had been in the same branch during WWII. Can't imagine that happening on the coasts.
Most of the time I feel like the only normal person in the local Wal-Mart. I only go there when I absolutely have to, and I only buy canned foods and lotion there. No one should EVER buy meat or produce at Wal-Mart. Every time I go I spend at least as much time in line as I do shopping. Ironically, Sam's Club meat and produce is generally good, and I spend far less time in line there. Wal-Mart sucks.
sam’s and wal-mart are owned by the same company
Every time I go to Wal Mart, or just about any place any more, I find myself looking at people and mentally telling them "you're not gonna make it". When TSHTF, there are going to be a lot of people who will serve more or less the same purpose then as now – to get in everyone else's way and be as annoying as possible. I personally won't spare one mouthful of food for them.
When I do shop there, I check out in the auto parts section, or the jewelry section, not up front in the main check outs.
the lines are too long, and it takes too much time. Not to mention standing in line with, and surrounded by some very spooky people.
AnnaMouse
I prefer Smart & Final, neat stuff and no membership fees. Be careful of people standing too close behind in line, you never know if they're trying to pick your pockets. Grrrrrr.
Spawn Mart and the genetic mutants are drawn to this place. Reminds me of the movie Zombie Land. However that's an insult to zombies. Have you noticed how many grossly obese people shop there.
i once shopped for an hour and a half to find out there were only 2 lanes open for check out. people were backed up all the way in to the clothing section so i pushed my full cart (ice cream and all) in to the customer service area and walked out. :)
Amen Brother, Amen.
I found I can get the same price just by looking around before I buy. Their quality is lower. They do not last as long either.
AS far as ammo, I think they have less powder in them or bullets are not precision, They do not group the same as retail store ammo.
As far as people, with what Wal Mart does with their help, and their pay rate you can't expect more from them.
Just my two cents.
Funny thing is people complain about Wal Mart calling it China Mart but never say that about places like K Mart and Target which are the same. People claim that Wal Mart puts stores out of business, except in my town probably 20+ stores and restaurants have opened up right around it (a place where there used to be no stores). People act like Wal Mart does not pay there employees well but the mom and pop places do. I can guarantee most of those places pay there few employees crappy money. I will choose to support capitalism and low prices. This site always talks down about Rawles site and the rich preppers over there. You want to waste your money on the same product at a mom and pop store then do it, it's a free country. I will go to the cheaper place.
I only go after 10 pm or no later than 7 am..I go there to buy my dog food..nuggets and fries tv dinners and whitecastle cheeseburgers..everything else is dollar store for me..this way I dont have to put up with aholes stopping mid isle to visit..screaming kids..smelling someones farts and enjoying them sneezing 2 ft away from me and the lookers-non buyers…and the sweetest thing is not having to wait inline much at all, I so enjoy virtually having the whole store to myself..gives me time to ck out the dvds' and most importantly..the camping/sporting stuff..Im in no ones way..and vice versa
BTW M.D., what happened to the Forrest Gump post yesterday? There were several comments. My guess is folks don't appreciate taking the time to comment and then having a post evaporate. Just curious.
I go there rarely, but had chance to visit one today– and had the total opposite experience you did. Easy parking– right by the garden entrance– speedy checkout there, greeted as soon asI walked in the door; two employees asked if I needed help– and when I finally did, in locating a heating pad, I was promptly led to it.
I'd ride a shopping cart 'cross the parking lot, too… because I am a grown-up who still knows how to have fun. Maybe he was showing the kid that, just because you're an adult tou don't need a corncob perpetually anus-implanted.
Sorry about your trip; I really don't prefer Wally-world, avoid it when I can. But today… well, I can't complain.
Anon..6:26…
LMFAO….. You said" I look at people and think, 'You're not gonna make it' " .You took the words right out of my mind. I think that about people I see all the time.
I try not to get all egotistical, thinking I'm better than the people around me. However, let's face it, we(as prepers) have the upper hand on the common numbskull.
And you are right, they will be in the way. But if you keep a low profile, and are well enough prepared, chances are they won't be in YOUR way. But back to your comment, it is rather amusing looking at people and realizing that they are simply cannon fodder.
Dean in Mich……….
Let's be honest here…They have cheap crap at cheap prices. They simply refuse to hire anyone with an IQ higher than that of a tomato!
Given that, what can one expect today? I mean seriously! Just ask one of their "associates" for anything and the reaction you get is…HUH?
These people are knuckle dragging neaderthals at best. Now I am not referring to the old geezers they exploit as door greeters, oh no, I ain't goin' there! I refer to people that are supposed to work in a specific area of the store and has some knowledge where things are, or even what they are selling, as in the firearms area. Nope! Not gonna happen folks! On a scale of 1-10 on customer satisfaction, I give wally world a -65!
I have had to make 4 trips to get my money refunded after I bought a "pre-broken" and re-packaged rifle scope. I took it in, they took my receipt, and the scope and said have a nice day!
3 days later I actually "caught" the slime ball of a manager and almost hit that pke faced punk, to gety his attention. I demaned in no uncertaine terms to check on what the hell his employees were doing…Would you believe he asked me to pay for the scope again? The same POS they sold as new to me prior! I got medevial on his butt and it was settled after the local Police were called…I called them for theft and fraud and pointed to 4 employees I wanted charged! Then and ONLY then, did they take me seriously! Yeah, well…..I refuse to enter thier parking lot today!
BTW, watch out for those "sales" tags in orange!1) they are NOT on sale, some jerk just did that for shits and giggles I have found out twice now!
I get to the register and find they are double what the tags says, whenthey call the dept. to ask, the tags "disappear", and I had 4 witnesses with me!
2) Buyer Beware, I bought 5 pocket knives on sale, they were all broken inside, never unwrapped/sealed.
I have never had a good wallyworld experience. NEVER! I go there to get cheap food and practice my self control. you can see how far the country has swirled down the crapper by visiting wallyworld. If there ever is a collapse these are the people who will have to be eliminated. 22lr's are still fairly cheap. I don't want these people coming to my door hungry. Look how they behave now and imagine how they would act after a collapse.
I go in known this. That the will be no customer service, most of the cutomers are dregs that shop there.
Knowning this, I lower my expectation, and move on with it. I only go in knowning what I want, get it and then leave.
I also don't buy ammo there, for two reasons. First, not going to stand there for 15 minutes while some high school drop out gets a key or manager. Then have him ask me for my id and limit me to a certian amount I can purchase.
Nope, I'll shop with my feet when it comes to that.
You can actually go on-line with WMT using your receipt and lodge a complaint. Keep note of the employee's name and enter it in your complaint if they are rude or don't help you. I wouldn't want to be the employee who gets reported on-line in this way. It goes into their employment record. Besides, going on-line enters you into the possibiliy of winning a few thousand bucks if they select your entry.
I prefer minimal employee-customer interaction. I have only half a brain and can still do things for myself. I want to buy a can of soup. I know it will be found in the grocery section. I won't have to canvas the two or three aisles of merchandise; I just look for other canned foods. Oh look, my soup! I don't need to be told where things are. I don't need employees to help me with product comparisons, either, because I can read labels and perform arithmetic.
Employees are only polite to customers to squeeze them for money. I am not fooled into thinking they actually like or respect me as an individual. I prefer not to have my butt kissed or my intelligence insulted. Employees are distant because of how they are treated by pretentious customers. No matter how much you bend over backwards to accomodate people, they still have temper tantrums and make unreasonable demands. People can't know everything. Not everyone is going to treat you as royalty or call you "Massa."
I don't expect instant gratification. I would rather wait in long lines at Walmart than long lines at the charitable food pantry for soylent green, like people do in other countries. I am thankful for what I have.
Commentors: Why call people who shop at discount stores "scumbags" and "shady" and so on? Please don't be so judgmental. I bet conceited people will be among the first to go WTSHTF.
We, are like the minority here, we DO NOT darken the doorway of WalMart (ChinaMart).
And NO, I am not a dummy, as suggested by some of the Anon commenter's. I can find just as good or better deals elsewhere. As for purchasing ammo, if it is from a "store", I'll deal with Cabella's, thank you. When ever I really want a good deal an ammo, I use the Internet….don't you?
If it your purpose to support the economy of the PRC, then by all means, shop WalMart.
By the way, we don't do KMart or Target, either.
And we are not rich, either.
Bob

greetings. again with the cannot be processed. why is it that I cannot post anything beyond 2 lines or 3 on a good day. while others go on forever?
I shop at Walmart, not to see the slugs and low lifes you mentioned, but they do have lower prices on some items.
Other than that Walmart is a welfare magnet!
Not sure what this has to do with survival…
Right on Creekmore.Went in last night nite to pick B-day present for a friends baby, and of course cruised through sporting goods. One of my boys got me a 20 ga,I have no ammo for it was looking for #6 shot they had some, after asking if I could get help(ammo is locked in a case)I waited 10-12 mins No one in sight.ITs always like that.I left.Price is only good thing about it.
Anon 2/28 10:07 am – I guess you missed the implied message – if you can survive Wal-Mart, you can survive anything.
When I go to Wal-Mart in my area, I tell my kids before we enter the store "Remember, we are in America so start speaking Spanish".
Wal-Mart is a pure example of an American success story gone bad. Their initial concept was great saving consumers money through volume purchase discounts.
!!!!! BUT !!!! They have totally spun totally out of control trying to swallow up every penny possible by putting the mom & pops out of business, giving lousy benefits to its full time employees so they have to rely on the government tit for proper medical coverage.
See the documentary movie "Wal-Mart, the High Cost of Low Price" its a fact filled film that should nauseate you out of trading there.
better benfits then were i work
It may have to do with the location.
There's 3 different Box-Marts where I travel.
One the closer one to the inner city is worse than the one you described. There have been several strong arm and armed robberies in the parking lot. There isn't a day there isn't a police cruiser in the lot picking up shoplifter.
I quit going there.
The other two stores are out away from the city and are pretty calm, well stocked and the employees seems to know their jobs.
If I may, I compare the Wal-mart in the city as to the city when the SHTF.
Be cause when/if the SHTF, that store will become a battlefield along with the surrounding area. IMHO
Take a minute to visit http://www.peopleofwalmart.com.
Scary!!
Rude? Yes. Incompetent? Yes. But when they have ammo it is usually the cheapest in the area.
There sure are a lot of pompous asses here.
Where do you think the customers and workers come from? These are your neighbors from your community. Try treating them with respect and some Christian charity.

Not many Mom and Pop's around here. I could go 52 miles round trip to get to a different grocery store that would cost 10 to 30% more. I am poor and can get milk for $2 a gallon instead of $3 a gallon far away. I have kids and go through 3 gallons a week and lots of bread, lunchmeat, eggs, bacon, etc. I also can go to Wallyworld when they are in bed. That helps a lot! We live far out and Wallyworld is only 7 miles away…Because we are way out it is rarely busy…
You stirred up a hornets nest bringing up Wally World. Fun to read different takes about The Evil Empire!
An interesting fact about Walmart and all their made in China crap: in the early 1990's Walmart actively promoted made-in-the-USA products with displays that included posters telling about the factory, it's location, worker testimonials etc. They advertised it like crazy. Know what they found out? People didn't give a shit. They didn't work there so it didn't effect them they thought. They just wanted the 'cheapest'( a cruel irony, that word) product.
Well as far as Wally World employees goes…Why would you expect awesome customer service from someone who make $7.25 or $7.50 per hour with crappy benefits. I can't remember what minimum wage is now. Thankfully it has been a long time since I made that little. And I know some of you are going to say that they can work somewhere else, but your not taking into account that for most of these people it is either their second job or the economy is the reason they work there. And yes education level does play apart of it too.
So if you want better customer service when you buy your eggs and toilet paper pay a little more and go to Tom Thumb, Kroger, Brookshires, Publix, or whatever better paying and better benefit giving grocery store that is in your area. I sure miss Publix. I was raised in Florida/Georgia but live in a remote area of Texas so I get Tom Thumb or Kroger for now. LOL!
Stephen
"AS far as ammo, I think they have less powder in them or bullets are not precision, They do not group the same as retail store ammo." Ohh come on now put on your tinfoil hat and you'll shoot better. You learn something new everyday DID NOT KNOW Hoppes, Remmington, and Winchester, were chinese brands. Seems most of these rants are aimmed at the customers, maybe if Wally put up more mirrors you could see the problem better. As far as Target that's a FRENCH owned corp. Wally's is at least home owned. Stores stock what sheeple buy, buy crap they stock crap.
If you can't admit you like to buy cheap don't take it out on those that sell cheap. Does any store hire people of the quality of last century, no cause they are all retired now. How do you cure rudeness in stores, by being well mannered yourself. I don't shop there cause the stores are haunted ;}
Irish Survival Man's comment was a hoot! Am still cracking up over that one.
No doubt Bro! My wife is a pharmacy tech at the local WM, and I hate going there with a passion, for the same reasons! I usually try to fight the battle, just when I try to buy some ammo, because I get a 10% discount. But Lo and Behold, do they ever have what I want??? NOT! Off the the gun shop, or online ammo sites! Hang in there Bro! The Wally worlds will be one of the first line to be trashed by the looters, when TSHTF! They won't be able to resist all of the quality Chinese products! Have a great day, and I love your blog. Subsribed, and get it every day! Feel free to post this on your site!

A lot of negative comments towards one of the most successful business models of all time. Also a place that saves an average family a few thousand dollars a year on goods. They also donated huge amounts to communities and provides many people with jobs. They don't have to pay people to be greeters, but look how many people get a job doing that.
If it is such a horrible place. Maybe everyone should go take their business elsewhere instead of taking advantage of the great business model that saves people money.
M.D., Good point.

Hey thanks for posting the link to the people of walmart. I just wasted two hours looking at that site. I just couldn't stop looking. It was like watching a car wreck. And as for the anonymous poster who asked what this has to do with survival, go look at the site. See what type of people fill our society from coast to coast and you tell me we have a chance in hell. Visual evidence of the decay of our society before your very eyes. This makes the movie Idiocracy seem like a documentary.
The Walmarts by me are very good. I am in a suburb of a large city who is trying desperately to get a Walmart into the city proper not just in outlying suburbs. The Unions are trying to keep them out.
On the plus side Walmart is an industry leader when it comes to warehousing, transportation & logistics. They are cheap because they know how to save on business costs.
I shop at a Super Walmart, but only late at night. The ones by me have a wide assortment of merchandise & not everything is from China. They employ 100's of people from all walks of life, & all those people are making a living, supporting their families & communities.
Can things be made better in some areas of shopping at a Walmart. Yes, but all in all they are tough to beat.
Ironically many of the items you find at a Sam's Club can be found at Walmart for very close to the same if not exactlty the same price.
Id rather pay a little more and support my neighbors business than give a dime to walmart. I am living paycheck to paycheck but it is worth it to me.
YEAH WE ALL HAVE HAD BAD TIMES AT WALMART,THE FUNNIEST THING ABOUT THE PLACE IS WHEN LARRY THE CABLE GUY RELATES HIS TIME AT WALMART WHEN HE WENT THERE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT.HE LOOKED AROUND AND THOUGHT A FREAK SHOW BROKE OUT.THATS GOT TO BE ONE OF HIS FUNNIEST SKITS.FROM JAY IN NC
Confucious say, better to move from a bad breath situation (if possible) than to create friction. Children can be run over by carts and cars and taken by predators. Shopping cart corrals can be helpful when the lot is full as they can be used for additional space to get in and out of your car and room for the shopping cart when you want to unload your goods into your car. Shopping at night, for those who hate daytime shopping, is really fun…you nearly get the whole store to your self-wheeeee and less stress during the drive in.
I have to say your Walmart sounds pretty scary. My own Walmart is actually a decent place and the complete opposite of what you describe (except around Christmas then all stores are nut houses). I mainly go their for staple goods, Toiletries, paper products, Dog food, automotive oil, over the counter medicine products and Ammo. Prices can't be beat and in todays economy it is needed. I do avoid "China" products when ever I can. Only problem is when shopping for clothes no matter what store you go in 90% is made in another country. So good luck with that.
But because of the low prices the store is like a magnet for many types of people good and not so good. Just like our roads and highways with all the nutcases, we just have to deal with it and do what we have to do.
LOL .
F*@k the "mom and pops"! Some of you morons either never caught on or ignored the fact "Mom and pop" were more than happy to screw the average individual for years before Walmart hit the scene.
How about this, you leave me alone to buy products and services from whomever I please and I leave you alone to buy products and services from whomever you please?
BTW- the "Buy American" crowd is a bunch of pansies that talk about the free market, but deep down and in practice have little faith in.
Also, before some of you dolts go on about unfair foreign competition etc; why should I care if foreign government wastes it's people 's tax dollars engaging in product dumping or subsidizing industries? If person offers you a $1.00 for 70 cents, you'd be an idiot not to take it.
I read this piece and thought you'd just gotten out on the wrong side of the bed that day.
I have good days and bad days at any store, not just Walmart. When I look back on it it's usually me that was in a crappy mood not those poor souls working for as little as their corporate masters can give them.
I shop at WM for the prices and the selection, just like I go other places too. Those people who want to bad mouth someplace because of where they buy what they sell need to go thru their closets and cupboards tossing what is not from a country they approve of. Just don't start with your car or truck, we do live in a global world like it or not & you'll have to do a good bit of shopping to find what you need.
All those people toiling away at WM, the ones you don't like, remember them? They are there just because they need the money.
I happen to work at a higher scale retail place than WMT as a retiremtent job. Needless to say, I wouldn't even be working there if I didn't have to, but it pays the bills. My personal customer service comes from the old school. From a time when the clerk used to count your change back (the people of WMT don't even know what that means). Back in those days, the CUSTOMER was more polite and better dressed when going out to shop. Today, I wouldn't dress or act as badly anywhere than most of the people I see shopping. Rude! Slovenly! Dirty! Smelly! Some of the vulgarity on the tee-shirts I see is shocking. Apparently, they think it's cute. This is what America has become. No pride or sense of good behavior. Our children see this and think it's OK. We are not headed for good in this culture. I'm not sure we can turn this around. It's only going to get worse.
My wife prefers Tar-jay (Target), there is generally less white trash there.
Perhaps you should come out of hiding, join the rat race, and shop where you want.

I'm with you Wal-mart used to be a good store to shop at. Now you stand in line forever. My local china mart has about 24 check out lines with only about 8 open at any given time. it's ridiculous this past Christmas I spent my money at Kmart right across the street no long lines and great prices not one dime did wally world get.
Hey, I always ride the cart to the car, but I don't run anyone over with it! My biggest peeve used to be with the useless Greeter. But I look at it this way – at least they have provided an employment opportunity for someone. Many of their brands are crap, but how can you beat the prices on the good ones? There's not many Mom & Pop shops left by me, but times are tough and I can't afford to spend half again as much for the same exact thing if I can find it cheaper at Wally World.

We try not to shop at Wallmart for several reasons. Most of their stuff is from China.I personally can't stand the huge parking lot that is always full, and a person has to walk a mile to the store. Then there is the video or dvd [?] we watched which was about Wallmart. An eye opener.Bad store.I also read the book called 'spychips,' by Katherine Albrecht and Liz McInyre, and the book says that Wallmart actually told their supliers of goods that if they DID NOT put R.F.I.D. in/on products, that they would no longer purchase from that particular supplier.Spychips are now being put in many items without our knowledge or consent, for tracking purposes..Get the book. It's pretty scary. So I try to avoid Wallmart.usually.
I hate other shoppers at Wal-mart. The minute you get somewhere and start looking, there’s always some idiot who rides up on you and thinks they’re gonna get whatever you’re trying to get. It’s like back off already! I actually had a woman and her family crowd me & my daughter in the foot cream section. Okay, if people really need some stinking foot stuff that bad, then take it, just dont crowd me!!! People need to back off & give others space.
I like your review, however, by buying something there you ensure that nothing will ever change and soon all the stores on Earth will be WalMarts. Boycott WalMart!
Well it’s a little hard getting an 18 wheeler into a walmart parking lot but I have to eat to. My wife actually has a map of walmarts that we can get our truck into. Security has always been good to us as long as we park out of the way. As for the guy riding the buggy,,,, errrrr at 50 years old I still ride the buggy. Sorry md but it puts a big smile on my wifes face to see the kid bust out in me. It is still fun after all these years. As far as being grown up? Served my country overseas for 3 years raised 3 well adjusted kids, been self employed for 20+ years. I’m grown up and I still ride the buggy and I don’t care who knows (please don’t use my real name)
Our wallmart is the proverbial starwars barscene! I shop there for preps and basics,We definatly shop the sales at our town though.I also drop off the used motor oil. They do not sell guns at the wallmart in our part of Kalifornia but I do buy ammo there.Overallbig 5 is much better but you can get colman propane cheraper at wallmart in the 2 pack.I almost forgot about the pharmacy.it is slow but better then driving 63 miles for the Target in the town I work at. Steve
Walmart signs my paychecks and even i hate it… Unfortunately i have very little other choices for work in my city. Makes me want to move out and find a farm to work on. *sigh*.
