You Can Lead A Horse To Water…

by M.D. Creekmore on September 26, 2009

Reading through the comments from Thursdays post it’s obvious the content went over a lot of heads. One thing I’ve learnt from publishing this site is that it’s pretty much impossible to convince anyone of something they don’t want to believe.

My thoughts presented in the post, were that a handgun will be the most useful and used self-defense tool after a collapse. Simple really – yet comments quickly filled the page, with readers informing me of the superiority of a rifle or shotgun.

I never told anyone to sell their other weapons in favor of a handgun or that a pistol was superior to a rifle or shotgun, that would be stupid.

Let me say it again – in simple language – you need to be armed at all times, carrying a rifle or shotgun at all time is impractical if not impossible.

There are times (even post SHTF) when concealment will be necessary – tucking a handgun down your pants is easier than trying to conceal a Kalashnikov on your person.

That is the strong point of a handgun – it can be with you at all times, a pistol within reach beats a M249 light machine gun (LMG) left at home.

If you have nothing but a rifle or shotgun you’ll spend most of your time unarmed and susceptible to attack.

I never said not to have a rifle or shotgun – only that a handgun will be most useful for self-defense, because it is what you are likely have during the time of need.
