Your Tax Dollars at Work

by M.D. Creekmore on February 8, 2010

This was sent by a reader, I found it amusing  – may be you will too.

New AR-15 assault rifles for the department $1,500.00 each.

Training time $100.00 per officer.

Picture on front page of the local paper with the female officer standing in full view, not using any cover, and with the magazine in backwards……PRICELESS!

This affirmitive action officer needs to be put on parking meter duty before she gets someone killed. This is what you get when you recruit by quota instead of by ability…

As long as the assembly looks, she seems to have 2 mag-cinched together, but one is curved forward and the other (lower) backwards. Not the recommended technique.
Either way, my Marble Falls relatives are not amused.

In response to Anonymous who thinks it's two magazines taped together:

I wanted to take a better look at this photo and see if that was the case. I found a slightly larger version on another website, downloaded it, and opened it in Photoshop. After blowing up the image even further and examining it, I can see no indication of another, correctly inserted, magazine in the weapon. After blowing it up in the fashion I did, it’s clear that it’s either one incorrectly inserted magazine, or the photo has been altered to make it appear that way (I would vote for the former).

To address the fact that the magazine appears to be so long, I found the following video on youtube. As you can see from the video, an incorrectly inserted magazine will go into the magazine well, but will not insert fully. The result is a partially inserted magazine that protrudes from the weapon much farther than a properly inserted magazine.

Banana clip. I don't believe you can insert that magazine in upside down. Will not fit. The floor plate is too large.

to toaster 802 – don't be a douchebag. you're suggesting if that were a man this mistake couldn't happen. i can assure you, men can make this mistake, and men have. it doesn't have squat to do with gender. dumbass.

It would be better to spend $300 on a decent rifle and the other $1,200 on using it.

Yeah this is just another shining example of how quite alot of cops just aren't up to good training standers as they should be. But I also have problems with women doing these jobs but thats just the grunt marine in me hating everyone.
